The Internet Will Destroy our Way Of Life

Before I start, let me begin by saying that I love using the internet - I consider it a valid hobby.
However it is the most dangerous thing we have ever invented. True the internet has many good things about, it makes the world smaller, it crosses religious and culture barriers easier than anything ever did and it has brought education to some of the poorest nations on Earth.
There is a BUt, there always is a BUT - In the UK at the moment, we are in the middle of a massive child abuse scandal going all the way back to the 1960's. It is likely that this goes all the way to the top of British establishment and the Police and ministers may have covered it up or turned a blind eye.
The obvious answer would to be round them all up and put them in prison - seems a fair response.
That is not going to happen - Thanks to Twitter and Facebook, any form of a fair trial or justise has now been ruined. Twitter was full of names of people it may well have been, They have been convicted via social media - How can they now enter a court room and expect a fair trial?
Twitter and Facebook gives the idiot masses the belief that somebody cares about what they have to say, the only ones who care are their fellow halfwits. Twitter is full of retards who have heard a snippet of information and then believe they are an expert.
I would close Twitter down tomorrow if I could - the world does not need it.
Online chatting is great, it is wonderful - I speak to people all over the World.... We can all make new friends online, It is getting harder and harder to make real friends. Does spending time online count as playing to a child. Do children even run anymore? Do they learn to ride bikes or go swimming in river anymore?
We deserve what is going to happen to us

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Yes i agree to you completely, of course internet has revolutionized our world but just as the two sides of coin, internet also has its merits and demerits. Many people are now devoting their time to internet and shying away from doing the daily chores and in a way affecting their health. Besides the evolution of face book and other social networking sites, even children are getting addicted to it and thereby their personal life is getting affected. So in totality internet has to be used in a proper and effective way.
What say?

Honestly I don't see it that way. I think people already have a pre-concieved idea of someone accused of a crime. but the court system does have its protocol in how they do things. They do interview many people for a jury. And while the trial is going on, after they have picked a jury, they are not allowed to read the paper, watch the news and especially the internet. So, they can give this person a trial. And a fir one at that. Now, if the court system is corrupt, then thats a different story. The only thing the internet did really was give people a voice. It is the same as it was except now we can read and view many peoples views.

Thanks for the reply Steve, Our justice works differently to yours.
We have secrecy to certain aspects of a court case, if these things are broadcast on Twitter - The whole thing collapses

I hear what you're saying. I think thats horrible though. They should be more openness when it comes to things like that. I am not saying there is no secrecy here, believe me, there is actual corruption. But the system does not allow for jurors to be privy to certain information. And besides, they do have to have an unbiased look on it. We all have our opinions about a crime. But thats all they are, the they are the facts.

Hi rob!
Every thing that we have in this world have a positive and negative effect. As the saying goes too much of anything is not good. Yes I remember the time when there is no internet or even television, we play outside and make friends with our neighbors. But we have to accept the fact that the world is changing and we have to adapt to this changes. It is how we perceive things that make it bad or good.
Have a nice day!
