Hello lotters, I remember when I was still a kid, older ones including my parents used to asked me what is my ambition and what will be I want when I grow up. My answer was to become a teacher. And as I watched those variety shows which conducts competitions of kid's pageant, I always heard those kids who joined in it usually answered those three noble professions. Some would answer teacher, some are policeman and some are doctor.I always notice this three professions are the choices of kids. Unfortunately, I am not a teacher.I learned that being a teacher is very hard and it is a tough profession. How about you when you were still young? What was your ambition in life and professions you want?

When I was a child I dream to be a hotelier and a flight stewardess, but when I get to college they said that my height don't reach the height needed to get that job, so I was not able to get the course. I took up business management instead and now a full time mom. What a beautiful life I had, I am a doctor, a nurse, a lawyer, a financier, a teacher...name it and I am it... to my family. hahaha. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

When I was younger, i have always wanted to be a teacher. Then when I turned 7 years old, i suddenly wanted to be a scientist. And then when I was 12, I wanted to be a journalist. When I turned 15, i wanted to be an accountant. And guess what, I have never landed in any of those profession!

hahaha. You just made me day. I like that your being honest with your comments. When we are young, we used to have so many wanna be's in life. When I was young I never want to be a teacher, I don't like teaching naughty kids because my classmates are not nice kids then. They made our teachers mad, now... as I am older... I wished I had take education course instead of business. i now want to be a teacher! hahaha. I did graduated a four year course but I had never got any chance to work using it. I am now a full time mom. :D

This is an interesting discussion. I wanted to be many things, when I was young. At one time, I wanted to be a newscaster, because I was among the good speakers in our class and I thought I'd be a good mediaperson. Then, I wanted to be a doctor, a teacher, and a stewardess. I finished with a degree in Computer Science, but ended up as a Sales Manager in a Contact Center. But, I also became a corporate trainer, which I think is in line with the ambition of being a Teacher. Until now, I still hope to be able to get a certificate in teaching, so I could apply for a teaching job either here or abroad. Someday, when I'm free to do what I want. Right now, I'm a full time mom!

I remember my cousins who were very young then, one was seven and the other was five I think. The older one wants to be a doctor and the youngest wants to be a "konduktor" (meaning the one who give bus tickets). He made us all lough so hard. But now the two are both architect, they went to different school and graduated with high grades. I'm proud of them.:)

One of my ambitions was indeed to be a teacher and I became a home-school mom. I did indeed become a teacher - a teacher to my own children. It was a challenge but a challenge and an experience that I greatly value. Now, that my students or rather, my children have graduated and moved out into the world, I am pursuing my other ambition. I always wanted to draw and paint and be an artist. Somehow, that isn't going in quite the direction I thought, I am now pursuing photography. So, my life ambitions have either been fulfilled or being fulfilled. Not quite how I thought but even better.

honestly, kids only talking about their heart, mindless. I was wanting to be a pilot, but, now i want more than to be a pilot. I want to be the owner of planes. So, i think an adult must try to listening their heart(again).

I believe that as a child are ambitions are much more greater than when we are as an adult. We dream of great things and we are mostly influenced by our parents. We want to become something our parents wish for us because we trust their judgment but as we grow up we realize things and we face challenges which lead us to different paths sometimes away from our dreams. It's a sad fact of life but we must always remember to do the best we can of the situation we are in. I believe that dreaming for a better future, no matter how old you are is not bad at all.

Yes, this are the common answers most kids would answer when asked about their ambition. Maybe because we all know that these professions are known to be public servants. They serve the people and most children have this pure heart to think of helping the poor and less privilege people so they usually chose those professions mentioned above. But later on, when they grew up, everything will change. When I was a child, I wanted to be a writer but one of my teachers said that this job ain't stable. I wanted a stable job so I changed path. But I have this very good story about this topic. We live in a compound where most people work as factory workers. And when my little brother was asked what is his ambition when he grows up he answered in clean and loud voice - factory worker! He did not know what a factory worker is do but he knows that this is a descent job. So he was wondering why everybody laugh at him that time.

i am a management student and i love it, a lot of kids are forced to do either engineering or medicine ,many do as per their parents wish though they are never interested. I have seen my friends who left their studies in between because they are forced to do or study what they are not interested.

I wanted to be doctor, but it didn't happen. But I am still in the medical field and worked with doctors. I find good to ask the children of what they really want to be.
