Writing a Diary

When I was young, I always write a diary or journal with me. But now that I get busy, it's getting harder for me to keep a diary. As I'm always in the interent, I do blogging instead. But it is really nice if we keep a diary in order to be read when we grow u.

I definitely agree with you. I tried blogging as well but there is a different kind of feeling when I write. I feel powerful whenever I hold a pen in my hand. And the feeling of writing on paper is different from writing through the internet. Just like reading from the computer and reading through paperbacks, the feeling is different from each one of them. But they never fail to contribute to the knowledge that a person has

Yes. While a blog can be considered some kind of diary, we experience it quite differently. And unlike the traditional diary, there is no privacy with blogs. But blogs as online diaries have one advantage over traditional diaries. Blogs are much more fun to write. You can express yourself with photos and videos. I suppose blogs are best for recording happy memories.

Seeing your hand writing after many years makes you feel nostalgic. And you're right, blogs are best for recording happy memories. But blogs are not there forever. Multiply just sent me a message that my blog is going to be deleted in a few months :(

Hello! I did use to have diaries when I was young. I'm fond writing everything that has happened to me everyday. Problem was, I always risk my journal being read by my mom or sister! Lol!!! Now, I have a handy organizer / journal wherein I put in all my schedules plus what happened to me day by day. Plus I get to blog everyday, that also works for me :) Just simply love writing and sharing my thoughts :)

Diary is a good way to have a record of what happened to your life. But not when you have borther who will use it as a tool for blackmailing you! I can understand you as my mom and my brother love to read my diary as well and the funniest thing is no matter where I hide it, they can always find it. Now I'm writing a blog, but I also want to start writing my diary again as I don't live with them now :)

Yes, indeed! When we think about this we feel how beautiful it is keep a diary. We may recall the old days reading the diaries. However the fact is that we usually do not have much time keeping a diary. And there is another reason, that is, with the rapid development of the Internet, people are getting used to type documents on their computers, they seldom write with their pen. Thus it is possible for such people a journal on line but not on a notebook.

I agree with you. With internet, it is difficult to write with pen as you get use with typing. I tried to go back in the old way by trying to write most of my documents then type it afterwards. This method also serve as second check for grammar errors. But I'd rather have my diary in the notebook although i have online journals as well. Because when blogsites closes down, it is difficult to retrieve your diary. People can read it too and I love looking at my hand writing sometime.

I do blogging, though its not about my personal thoughts. Its more of less related to profession and things. Also i might be old fashioned, and do not have to leave my personal feelings and thoughts on online unsecured. But then i do have the habit of writing diary.I have been doing so for past 13 years and feel its a great habit. And guess it has been best habit i had for a long time.I do not use a single book for writing all the things around my life.I generally use the year calendar diaries with a dedicated page for each day and almost A4 size to write on things.I have not left any page incomplete,so most of my days are happening.I do write on the day's happenings and also on the different thoughts i had .There are many good things apart from bringing in old memories in diaries. It helps in improving speed, handwriting plus help us to remember things for a longer period of time. For me, i can look back at my old diaries to get the specific information of those days and it has helped me many a time.but good to know you are blogging and enjoyed the diary writing habit. Thanks!

Yes, writing a diary is a good thing and although it takes some time to do it, later on you will feel glad that you did! I have been keeping mine for years and I am proud of it and spend some time trying so that it looks nice, by adding a colour picture every day that I get from Jigzone, which is a puzzle site!

Hi Olive, I never have such habit of keeping diary. I rather look forward then remember everything about the past. I just want to remember good things about the past. No point wasting time on regretting about the past. I think it is better to plan for the future, and make sure that everything we do today is right.

A blog is an online diary except you have many readers rather than just one. This makes it inappropriate for writing really personal stuff. For a long time now, I've been trying to get a personal journal going, but I keep stopping myself from revealing too much details about myself or my life. It is somewhat annoying because I want to somehow document my thoughts.

I also used to keep a diary, and for some years, I did me-blogging. But now as I have lots of stuff going on in my life, have a boyfriend, do school stuff etc., I feel tired to write a blog. It's sometimes bad, because I might forget about certain interesting moments which were important, if only for 2 seconds...

Yes, that is good. I used to have a diary too when I was young. However, I stopped because there are some stuffs to do. I got busy. HOwever, writing diary is really good. You express yourself through writing and at time you are going to read and evaluate what happened to you before.

I agree that it's great to be able to write down your experiences and thoughts. My problem with blogging is that I always feel that I am writing for an audience. About a year ago, I was going through a very strange experience in a different country, and everyone I knew was asking me to keep them updated on it. I had such a hard time writing about my experiences because at the time, I wasn't able to share everything due to security issues. I also felt frozen whenever I started to write: this person might think this, this person might think this, etc. I wanted the information to be clear, yet there was a lot I didn't want to say and was not allowed to say! I wish that I had just written a journal for myself at the time and not tried to do a blog. However, it is harder to stay motivated to do this continually. But when you get older, or even after you die, journals can be so interesting. My great-aunt wrote down a few sentences nearly every day. They weren't usually emotions, but just telling about random things. The price of milk is .05, etc. This was even more interesting for her descendants in the future!

I do agree on personal diary, we can not bring out the things for secrecy in the blog. It is so fascinating that creating your own blog, people close to you can know what's the latest updates of their lives. The beautiful insights about the place they've been to, the points view of something, and so forth. The great thing is, life can be more viable for them to reminsice the past events of their existence in this world. It is a free access for them to get back and read what made them accomplished through the years.
