Well, this happened to me ages ago when I was almost down to the last cent. I saw to it though that my money is enough for fare to go to one place where I could get some money. Of course, I didn't use the last coins to go to a nearby bank to rob it, but I used it to go to my mother's house. As usual, and yes, as all mothers are, she gave me some money and saved me that day. Any similar stories you've had in the past or present? Share.

Well there was a time fairly recently, I had work, but I wasn't making much money; and I wasn't using credit cards. For a time things were ticking over OK, then due to certain quite heavy expenses, I found myself with very little money to get by on. For a period, I was eating meals such as noodles bought for a few cents wrapped in bread and butter: surprisingly delicious. I was reduced to using coins in the supermarket, using only self-service check-out tills, sometimes pouring in dozens of the tiniest coins simply in order to get enough food for the day. I became quite consumed with the need to keep eating. In time though, the situation passed, my finances were stabilised and I was able to eat normally. And all returned to relatively normal. It was a worrying period, but the fact is I was still able to keep eating: it's amazing how cheaply a person can eat when they are forced to; and that's a true blessing, that food is available for just a few pence. My situation wasn't serious, compared to those who are genuinely poor in our troubled world.

In fact there were a series of expenses beginning as of some months ago; my finances varied; sometimes OK, sometimes not. When not, there were times I'd be using coins. Then I'd be OK again, then not, and so on.

You're very welcome, yes I coped, but I was lucky to be in a part of the world where food is readily available for just a few coins, I am blessed in that respect.

Mothers really are great in nature, they are the ones who unexpectedly give you what you need at the right time and at the right place. I had my share of experience, this one time, i literally have no money, zero, not even a cent. Now at least i can go to school by walking since it is close, but i don't have money to buy food or things i need. That was when my mother called. She said she had money and she would give me an allowance. I gotta tell you money can heal a sick person! . So that was when my poverty started to dissipate. I learned to manage my money so as not to rely on my parents for everything. I want to be the one who earns my own money since it's harder to spend it and you earned it with self-diligence. Plus, you feel good with what you did to yourself by earning money. Have a great day!

Hi Half. Thanks for responding. Yes, it is good to be able to make our own money but even when we're working, sometimes we get broke and so we run to our mothers. I do not do that anymore since my mother has already departed. I have to find other ways and means.

Please accept my deepest condolence. Yes, we people become broke even if we are working, and it is hard to borrow money from someone. When that thing happens to me, that was a wake up call to earn more money. Therefore, i read some books about being broke and how to be richer. I have found a book by Randy Gage titled: "Why you are dumb, sick, and broke; and how to be smart, healthy, and rich!" It helped me in my financial difficulties as i apply the things i read. I hope it does the same to you when you read and apply it. Good day!

That has happened to me a couple of times during my teens. I distinctly remember that my friend and I were so broke, we had to walk from one city to the next just to get home. And it was in the wee hours of the morning, around 2 AM. We could've hailed a cab and just ask money from our parents when we got home, but I don't know. Maybe it was out of pride. We spent all our allowance, and since it was our fault, we needed to show them that we could still manage without asking them for money

Literally, most of the time, where i don't have even a single centavo and i have to walk, lol! i lost my job, drained my savings and with all humility associated embarrassment, i have to ask for financial assistance from my family and friends. Now, i have a home-based job, once in awhile, it still do happens to me, penniless, lol!

yes, right now..I am penniless. I am working and yet my salary is a bit low than what I expect but I am okay. My friends were confused and telling me I am going crazy here because even if I have money enough to survive still I am happy. They said, maybe there is something wrong me. Upon reflecting on my current situation, I thought maybe I am a bit crazy, but I am genuinely happy, I took off from an old job that treats people as trash now, I am given much opportunities to shine (of course with so little compensation that's why I am into mylotting. hahaha) but i think it is more important that I am appreciated as a person and I like that. Penniless yes.. whewwwwwww life is difficult but I still survive. Yepeeeeeeee...

Oh yeah. I've experienced being broke and penniless. It was my salary day and my money was enough for my food that day. LOL. Our boss usually gives us our salary at 11pm, before going home. So when I stay at work, I sometimes don't have money in my wallet anymore. I have some coins but maybe it's just enough to buy some candies or a biscuit. LOL. Anyway, my colleagues are friendly. They're ready to lend me money when I need some and vice versa. Being broke is really difficult. We have to budget wisely. :)

Spent all my savings on buying the apartment i live in now with my wife and kid, and due to some personal issue ,cannot work and need to take a break for a few years and trust me ,i am broke and skint although getting by for the time being looking for stuff to do online. at least food and shelter is not a worry now although would not mind some spending money now and then. my understanding missus (god blesss her soul) works to put food on the table and miscellaneous. At leasts not have to worry about roof over our heads, which is paid for.but still it is a bummer feeling

Hi cutie
Of course, there have been days when I was broke and literally penniless. But then, as you, I too could manage to reach my parents before I was all out and bankrupt.
The last time such a situation happened was in 2005 when I was at a different city travelling and someone pick-pocketed me. Though I dont carry wallets, I still had some cash and my Debit cards.
Luckily, there was one good stranger, who came up to help me with the fare for the bus to reach back home.
Ever since, I have been careful and despite the fact that I dont travel more, I still ensure that I still have some money left in my baggabe back at the hotel... just in case...

Hi cutie!
Well, I was in my training and when I ran out of money and I cannot go home because we were not allowed to leave our place of station. We needed the money to purchase things needed for our outputs so I decided to pawn my ring.
Have a nice day!

oh well maybe if loans didn't exist, I maybe broke by now. life is really difficult nowadays. especially that I am having 2 babies with only a year and 7 months gap. Most of our income goes to their milk, diapers, food, immunizations (which really are very expensive!). But we know our kids will grow up someday and will let go of these necessities. So we are hoping that we can also cope up eventually.

most likely when i was in high school, my money for the day was just enough for my fare and for my snacks and that if i do not have extra coins for my projects, it will be complied the next day as i asked to it from my mother or father. plenty of times i had a tough budgeting to compensate the expenses extended for that. i have no right to complain because i do understand how tough is life be and that i need to struggle harder to finish my studies so that i can find a better job. my mother once told me that, it is much better when you learn how to sacrifice because of it you will learn to value life and earning for a living is not that easy so no space for wasting and buying unimportant things.

I have experienced this kind of thing although i was not being brokenand penniless. The other day my sister-in-law was ill i gave her money which i earned in two moths. After it i had to turn in fees for heating and other fees, and i had to give money to my son for his school. i was at the edge of it.

Experienced a lot from the beginning of my life perhaps until now. I born as poor but rich in love and respect of the family. It is my great struggle in life, having a money in my pocket is really difficult to save because I need to give it to my parents, well to my mother (my father just passed away three months ago)and sometimes I help my brothers and their kids.
