I started doing this without experience - and honestly very few translators has an education in the languages they are translating, they just speak it fluently as their native. With time you get more experience and it gets easier getting jobs. In the beginning you may need to accept taking lower paying jobs until you get more experience within the field. Basically you just need to make good arguments for why you will be suited to exactly this job.

Do you have any idea what kind of arguments that I have to propose?

It is about "selling" yourself, thus why you would be suited to translate exactly that job. And then when searching work on websites like Freelancer, oDesk, Elance etc, keep in mind many of these clients are interested in the best possible work for the lowest possible price. Thus you need to offer your services for a lower price to build up a portfolio...

Hi ifa No one is interested in educational certificates on the freelance sites. What they imply by their request for experience is - What work you have done prior to approaching (or bidding to them). I do not have any degree in website development but I have been asked to provide experience by many people and thus I know it is not the educational certificates that they want. So next time, they ask you for an experience, show them the work that you might have done. Check out my PM to you on this... And HAPPY Diwali dear ifa.

No worries dear. I do hope that you do good on these freelance sites and win the translation bids. Diwali is a festival of lights celebrating victory of good over evil. Mythologically, it marks the celebrations of return of Rama to Ayodhya after defeating the Demons.

Of course most clients want experienced contractors before they hire anyone. Someday you'll have your luck just keep on applying for that job, if you are hired then you have your first experience. Good luck!

There is no hindrance if you are really good in translating. One of my friend worked as a translator, but he is undergraduate. If you have the skills, then go for it. Good day!

Have you tried lying? Doesn't everybody lie on their CV's Nothing wrong in over egging your qualifications - Can they Check? I would not be Britian's leading heart surgeon and gynecologist if I admitted that I only had first aid training

I think you can get a related work to try your self and earn money .then you can go to a college to get a certificated diploma .then you could be a good translator.

Have you tried to save up a bit for college and perhaps try and obtain the right credentials for this position? If not you can always try and obtain a job at a company that does translations and get experience hand son which is just as useful as an educational back round. Best of luck!

Better search in net you can get sites which won't look into your experience. I am not sure why people asking your experience in freelancer since you are very confident. Best of luck....

how do you know that I am that confident? I would not that confident if I knew that I didn't have any ability to do something. I am quiet expert in MyLotting since I don't break some rules this year
