Politics in my country is rubbish. I don't want to vote anymore. I'm loosing taste. Everything is useless if the system would not change.

@Jenith Well said, most of Pinoys are blaming the government for everything and since individual is the smallest component of the government therefore change should begin with ourselves including politicians so that our country will become a better place.

I think it's simple, let's start with ourselves by doing good all the time. As the saying goes: Be honest even if: others are not others will not others do not others cannot It happened already in other Asian countries like Hongkong, Thailand and more so why we can't? To think that we are number 1 in Asian countries before so we already proved it that we can be competitive like anyone else!

thank you for sharing your points of view. However, do you think having these virtues within ourselves would be enough to change the current political system here in our country? we cannot deny the fact there is still the presence of dirty politics in our country. Vote buying is still rampant most specially in remote areas during elections. the is still the presence of political dynasty is some parts here in the Philippines. What do you think is the most effective solution in dealing with these few of the problems in our society?

I am from the Philippines also ,and I am excited to vote because in our place ,candidates gives as low as 500php just to vote for them. So the more candidates there is the more money voters get, and it up to them if they want to vote those candidates who do this schemes. We can never stop this kind of garbage because it is rooted deeply and just kind became a culture. Look around those political dynasties :D. We should both migrate to a better place. Good day my friend and Good luck

In our place, somebody's raffling a sack of rice and some are getting up on their schemes. Of course, they do this all teh time and it's no guarantee. In the age, where you cannot buy directly their votes, why not start earlier?

@TheSupersonic: I was amazed too when I came back in the Philippines and found out that the people who run for politics would give money to anyone during election even if it is strictly not allowed for COMELEC (Commission on Election). If politician caught in the act of giving money would face disciplinary actions but unfortunately people in the Philippines are so wise for not being caught. We must think too about Philippine Law as I am more convinced that laws are only for the poor. But if we try to analyze that we are so happy receiving money, on the contrary nothing happens after election. Why? because the one who won for election are not worth it and so busy corrupting money so he can pay his/her debt for the money he/she used during election. Come to think of it. I felt so sad. Migrating to the other place is not the solution because what if that country you migrated to still the same so are you willing to take the risk in keeping migrating till you found the best place?

@jeanneyvonne: Sack of rice with sardines or dried fish! Not only during elections, some folks here in my place received 1 sack of rice with financial allowance in lieu of religion!

People feel that way in the United States as well. I just would remind everyone that there are many countries where people would literally die for the privilege of voting. If you do not like how things are, maybe you need to do what you can to change them.

That is true. Sadly change is almost not in the priority of some politicians. status quo is always what they want barbecue they profit from it. I would like to vote but sometimes, change is coming way too slowly for my liking.

Yes GardenGerty I'm doing my best to change it even in my own little way. Hope everyone too would realize it so we can attain our dreams that we long for.

You know sometimes you have to vote the lesser of the 2 evils or the greater evils will dominate and have all of us doomed. anyway seemed like our country is less corrupt now as the Peso is actually rising and its predicted that 1 us dollars might become 30 pesos soon. Not a good thing for OFW's but its a sign of progress. Who knows the time where centavos have a value may be in our lifetime.

Go for the lesser evil is the right thing to do for now and keep on praying that these people may not be influence by purely devil. I think Peso rising is not the basis coz I remembered when Gloria do this before and everybody thought that it's real, only to find out in the end that what she did is just her strategy then one day all of the sudden the peso value went down.

Seriously our politic system in our country is full of mess OMG and yet we are still alive. Example our education system here, anyone can put up their own school as long as you have the money while in America only few can put up their own school because they follow certain standards and limitations. Here in the Philippines everything is business.

I do think that there are standards too to follow for anyone who wants to put up schools. It's just that it's not the same with countries who produces best students. And you know Filipinos are so wise, they always finds way even if they knew something is wrong. You know Recto? where fake papers/documents looks like original!

.im from Philippines too, indeed politics here is rubbish,i just hate those politicians who keeps on promising that they will do something to change our system or to make our country a better place to live in,,but i can't see any change.. now that 2013 election is fast approaching i know there will be politicians who will keep on telling about there plans for a better future ,and some will do vote buying , i hope we Filipinos will be wise enough to vote for someone who really thinks about the future of our country ,,

What if no politicians think of our country's future? When they indulge themselves in vote buying.... for sure they only think of their own. Politicians must not make promises like having a lot of projects(make buildings, concrete roads, bridges etc) coz if they won, he/she can't do it alone. He/she still needs the approval of the body before the certain project came to reality. Let's just pray for wisdom to everybody and vote wisely for the upcoming election.

There you go. That little word you mentioned includes you. The system includes you. If you wont vote anymore, it is a neglect of our responsibility as Filipinos. I agree, the system doesn't seem to help the Filipinos. Corruption is rampant in the government so we should still practice our right and duty by choosing the right man into any government position.

I'm not pointing fingers to anyone here. When I said that I don't want to vote anymore, it doesn't mean that I'M NOT GOING TO VOTE. Just want to make things clear. I know it's my responsibility as a Filipino citizen to choose the right and best man in any government position.

We are just politically immature so politics in the Philippines is a mixed bag of deals made by those seeking power, those with votes and those who can deliver the votes. And since we don't have strong political parties or large blocks of votes, every election turns into a scramble for power. Almost anybody can win.

In every election I'm always looking for some politicians who were not giving money so I can put their names in my ballot unfortunately all politicians in my place were so busy giving money a day before election.

I understand where it is coming from. The political system in our country can not be changed overnight. It is the old governance systems, but it happens in other country too.

Yes it happens but I guess it's not too late to do the right thing. Vote wisely. Too sad that a lot of population here belongs to the poor and uneducated so it's easy for the politician to give money in exchange of their votes.
