Its November so time for me to plant a few veggies out back.
I always plant a few veggies here.
Not just for the food.
But gives me something to do away from the computer and my office.
If I dont work in the garden an hour a day here.
Then Im sitting at this desk 12-14 hours a day.
One hour a day in the garden.. gets me outside, and away from the stress inside.
Also the extra veggies I grow, I give to church and to friends here.

Totally agree with you,GreenMoo, planting a garden makes one self sufficient! If you produce extra you can either can or freeze the extra and you will have it year long.

Well, you need to have some you time. I know the computer if addictive. But if we do not get off it and spend some time for ourselves we will go nuts. So if gardening helps you relax then I see that as a good thing. House work is not something people enjoy doing. They do it because they have to. Maybe take some time and go for a nice walk when the weather is nice. I am starting to do that.

It would be nice to have produce that is able to be grown here yr. round, but when you live somewhere where it rains a lot and gets quite cool during the winter and fall months, it is hard to consider. But if I could, I would have carrots, tomatoes and strawberries yr round.

Gardening is therapeutic for me at times too. Here lately, I need all of the therapy I can get. LOL. I hope that your garden is abundant! What did you plant? How does your growing season work? Can you plant all year long?

You are very fortunate to have such a long growing year. I love cilantro... I could eat it with almost everything.

mariaperalta, good for you planting a garden. I was just reading the other day that planting a garden is a good way to save money on groceries.

What are you planning on growing? I tried doing a garden this year. I had planted lettuce, tomatoes, zucchini, swiss chard, squash, raddishes, beans, and so on. But the weather was so up and down here, that nothing turned out. I did have two squash growing but we got frost early and killed them.

Oh, I love to garden! You can see a seed or plant with your care grow up to produce food that you can eat and not have to depend on grocery stores. It's like having a child, you have to take care of it and realize that you are providing life to some one/some thing else. You can watch it grow daily. Happy gardening!

What ana excellent idea, you are getting some value out of being outdoors in exercise and fresh air and you can eat it as well. Not only that you are sharing te results of your hard work. I hope this discussion of yours has started a craze among other MyLotters.
