So Embarrassing!

So, today I went to the store. I had things in my cart, went to the register, she rang it all up and I went in my purse to get the money. Ha! No money in my purse, my wallet was gone! I was SO embarrassed!! I had to run back home to find my wallet (which must have fallen out of my purse without me knowing it) and thank God it was in my bedroom...
Ugh, so embarrassing for me and the first time anything like this has happened! I went back and got my stuff. The cashier was super nice about it, she said I understand with kids around things come up missing all the time at my house too! She said I am glad you found it, I was too! Lol.
Has this ever happened to you before? Or something like this?

This has happened to me once and it really is embarrassing! The good thing is that when it happened, my then-boyfriend was with me so he ended up paying the bill! And as for my wallet, I left it in the bathroom!

I had my cousin with me and she went in for me and paid because I was too embarrassed to do it myself. Just standing there at the register though searching for my wallet was enough torture with people waiting behind me. I felt so bad!

I have atleast one or two people every two weeks who forget their wallets at home or in their car. If it's in the car it's easier I just say go get it. If not we have to total void everything and ring it back up later.
I always have my wallet with me, but that's because I put it in a coat or hold it in my hand instead of using a purse.
It's understandable, I mean it happens, just it's very frequent / common too.

Yeah the cashier did have to ring it all back up again. I felt really bad but I did not expect it to happen either. I have been a cashier too and I have had people do the same thing once in a while, but this was the first time I have ever done it! I was so mad at myself for it...

Same as you I get embarrased when all the stuff I bought in the grocery for my store was all punch up and totalled
and came to realize that I don't have the money to pay good thing I have a friend with me. I left her then I go home to get
the money I was really afraid that it was lost. I know that I put it on my purse but it is not there I have my purse with me but the Money
was left on the house. Thank God that it is in my bed covered with my used shirt.

These kind of things happen more than what one would want. But when I started to read your post, I was afraid that your purse had been stolen. I`m very glad then that all ended perfectly well

My most embarrassing moment at the supermarket was getting caught shopping without my wife.
Imagine that!

Hasn't happened to me but it could happen to anyone. Thing is..why would we need to be embarrassed..it's not like you did it on purpose.
Annoying things like this happens to everyone..so we shouldn't be embarassed..annoyed, yes..embarassed..no and I am glad the clerk was so nice..she can probably relate too

I know what you mean and I would probably have been embarrassed but I am working on not worrying about others approval
As I said..it happens to everyone..I think we should just laugh it off except it's inconvenient to go back and get it..still I bet you were delighted and relieved it was in your Bedroom

I have never had this happen to me before. It sure would be embarrassing. I'm glad the cashier was nice about it too. I always double check before I leave the car that my debit card is in my purse. I worry about such things even without it having happened before.

Yep been there done that but being in the first stage of Dementia its always pressing to see if I can do everything right for one day LOL
Sorry it happened to you.
I just told the girls my wallet was in my car, and sure enough it had dropped out of my purse.
And of course its a relief when you find it. You dont have to contact banks, credit card companies, and have to go down to the DMV for a new Drivers License.

I'm sorry your getting dementia marie, that has to be hard. I cannot imagine going through that.
I wish mine was in the car! Unfortunately we had to go back to the house and thank God found it. I was worried because I always have it in my purse and it was so weird that it was not there...But then again with the kids you just never know where stuff will be sometimes...

Been there and done that! Only with me, it's the debit card. My account is in mine and my daughter's names, just so that when I die or I become unable, she can access my money. We share the card. She does most of the shopping, but there are times that I go. I've gone and not had my card. I never keep mt checkbook in my purse, it's just my card. I've gone to get a hair cut and not have my card. My daughter is usually shopping somewhere close, so I just call her to bring me my card. She had to come home and get the card after ringing up groceries, cause the card was home with me.

not recently. but i did once try to buy a jumper and realise i didn't have the money, when i thought i did, so i said i'd come back, and then changed my mind. so i wasn't too embarrassed about that.
and in the past i had my debit card not work, so now i just never go to the till without checking i have the money first, as now i am quite scared i might try to pay and not have the money.
though a few times i have stood near the till and checked my purse to make sure i have the money, and the cashier has been looking at me wondering, so i have explained that i am terrified of not having the money to pay, and they usually just laugh, as if its such a common thing and they are used to it.

Yeah since you left it wasn't a big deal so thats good. I would check too this way you don't have to worry that maybe there is not enough money. I will never leave the house again without checking first to make sure I have my wallet with me at all times. That was too embarrassing!

I think that that has happened to just about everyone at one time or another. Embarrassing is when you get up to the register and you do have your wallet and you have to start taking things off ecause you don't have enough money with you or in your account. That's embarrassing! The best thing to do is once you are in the car or just going out the door, check your purse make sure your wallet is in there. You won't have that problem again.

This must certainly have been a very embarrassing situation. It is the type of situation that we fully understand if it happens to someone else and never think ill of them for such a thing, but it always seems to be very different if it happens to us instead.
I have not been so unfortunate, but I have managed similar things. I have been to a cash machine and suddenly been unable to remember my pin number, despite using it regular and never having had that problem before or since. I also have a travel pass to travel free on local buses because I am over 60 years of age, but I have got on a bus and then realised that the pass was at home, so I had to pay the full fare for the journey.

It's happened to me but thankfully, my wallet was not at home because it's over a 2 hour drive there and back.
I had left it on the counter of the last store I was at and thankfully the cashier had seen it and grabbed it. Luckily for me because the next customer may have been tempted or not so honest.
They had put my groceries on "suspend" so there was no problem at the supermarket. I was wrung out though with all the worry and rushing round.

Oh wow, that is a LONG drive! Where I am its only a few minutes thank goodness so it wasn't so bad.
That's good that she grabbed it for you, that could have been really bad if the someone else found it!
I am glad my wallet was at home and not lost or stolen. And I am definitely going to make sure that I have it before I leave the house from now on.

It happened to me before. The worse part was there was a long line of customers behind me waiting to pay their purchases and the items I purchased have already been keyed in the cash register. When I was about to pay I did not find my purse inside my handbag. Instantly I felt my face turning red being so embarrassed with the dozen of eyes looking at me. I called my son immediately to save me from that embarrassing moment. The few minutes that he took to reach the mart was like an hour. The other customers were directed to the other cashier as the cashier have to wait for my payment. That's the problem of keeping on changing handbags whenever I go out.

Yeah there were people behind me too. I felt bad for them too, I am sure they were upset with me. But there was nothing I could do except go home and get the money! My face was red and hot also, I felt it. Lol. I hate that feeling so much!

I think us guys are luckier because we don't carry around a purse. All we have is a wallet which I seem to check every few minutes to make sure that it's still in my pocket.
I can't say I've experienced not having my wallet. But I did use a card once and have been declined. That was embarassing.
