I dropped my phone in the tub last night.

I went to wash the bbq grills in the tub last night and I had my phone in a vest pocket. I didn't know that the pocket was too shallow for the phone. Unfortunately the mic has shorted out in the phone and no one can hear me on their end. Now I either have to replace the phone or see if a hands free set will work. I'd rather not replace it as it costs too much and it's a hassle getting everything put into a new phone, but I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Try to use hairdryer to make it dry and work again

yes and avoid turning it on while doing so cause a short circuit would produce more damage

Try laying it on a bed of dry rice. It may just have moisture inside that the rice will draw out. That is so frustrating to have happen but I hear it happens a lot.

I put it in rice, but it's too late now. The phone still doesn't work and it's getting worse as the days go on. Now when I try to use it, it sounds extremely fuzzy.

I had a phone too ( samsung corby) that was soaked in rain water. what i did was i took out the battery, and had to blow dry the phone. and left it overnight. i opened it the next day and the lcd was working fine. the thing was, i had problems with the buttons as it was a touch screen phone. =( it wasn't as good as it was before but there had been no problems with the mic or speaker and the lcd... mabe you can check further if the phone has dried out inside. goodluck with that kris... :D

It is really sad to know that you had put your phone in tub accidentally. Anyway past is past and it is the time to get repaired or buy a new one. I would recommend to service the phone in company store. So that the repairing will be neat and along with it the repairing price will be cheap as considered to other private repairing shops. Happy Mylotting Merry Christmas

I understand you were concerned about the price buying a new hand set would cost. I think you just have to remove the battery and make sure it is dry. try to bring it to a technician so that he can clear any moisture inside. This is safer because you might get electrocuted if you miss wet electrical parts.

Try to be positive about it. Wait for a few days to dry it out. Maybe it still works. Or you can get a great phone that will make you happy. :D

I have done this a few times and a few other situations as well. I go through so many cellphones now. I know its a bad habbit but when I go to have a bath I bring my cellphone more for an alarm clock so I;m not laying in the tub for hours. But end up sitting there on my phone, job searching even mylotting.

Sometimes you just need to let the phone dry out and try it again. At first you should have removed the battery which I guess you did. I hope your phone will still work.

Oh, such bad luck! I think it may be too late to salvage the thing. I've heard that if you place the phone into a baggie of rice or use the blow dryer on it BEFORE using the phone that sometimes the phone can be saved. Don't know why, but I suppose using the system will cause the electrical parts to short out. Don't suppose you had the thing insured?

I have a habit of keeping my mobile phone in my shirt pocket and have dropped it quite a few times. Fortunately I have never dropped it into water, which is definitely the last place that you want it to land. Mobile phones can be such unpredictable items and you can drop one several feet onto concrete with no ill effect, then drop one a foot onto a carpet and it will not work. I hope that your mobile chooses to work once it has dried out, but it seems unlikely.

That is not a good thing. I hope that it started working again after getting dried out. I would also check online and find out if someone has one to get rid of.

unlucky for you to have drop your phone in tub. when this kind of cases happened normally the phone is consider cannot use any more but if you can still find anything to help or replace then it is ok. sometimes you still need to make decision of buying a new one because right now we are very hard to survive without phone around. maybe you can think about buying a basic function phone if you need to buy it and short of cash. hope your phone is still alright to use for some more time.

I know it is anoying to change your phone, but I believe is the best thing to do. Once a thing went bad with it, many cell phones tend to damage more and more every day. You can still try to make this one work, but you may risk to pay even more money and get even more stressed and angry than buying a new one.
