Road Accidents Mostly On Holidays

Accidents, especially on the road usually happen on holidays. The reasons for the phenomenon have to be sorted out in detail. A possible cause is the habit of people going out of their homes in joyous mood most probably on holidays. While quite a lot of accidents happen on Fridays in the Gulf region on Fridays(weekly holidays), in the other parts of the world Sundays take its toll of accidents. On the whole the incidence of road accidents is much higher on holidays across different countries of the world.

Hi there! I think one reason that attribute to this is that people get to drink on holidays or weekends, which we all know is a bad thing. Like drinking and driving thing. Also, people tend to be carefree cause their happy thus loosing their guard on things, then the next thing you know, one thing lead to another.

I agree with you sukumar that accidents do happen on holidays though this is not the norm as they take place even on weekdays. Generally traffic is less on holidays so motorists and especially the younger generation drive very fast and quite recklessly. They mostly lose control of their vehicles and crash their cars not only injuring and even killing themselves but also pedestrians. Heavy duty vehicles like trucks, tankers, tempos and buses are driven fast by their drivers resulting in horrific accidents. There are laws but people break them willfully causing great harm to themselves and others.

heaps of accidents during holidays people are rushing going to a pubs to meet friends.theyre just like having a drag racing just to get there on time.In a country where i was born almost evryhour you can see a flash report on tv about accidents.coz people who drive their vehicle not aware of everything might happen to them if there not careful.they are not aware whats on the roads its just like they own it.we cant really blame them because most of them lack of self discipline and dont know the rules of driving..

A lot more people are on the roads during the holidays. And unfortunately, a lot of times those people are in a hurry. When Christmas comes around it always gets more dangerous because the snow has come in several areas and everything is slick. I remember one Christmas, what should have been a 2 1/2 hour drive turned into a five hour drive because the roads were so slippery and there had been so many wrecks.

I really do think that there is a good explanation for the reason that more car accidents happen during holiday weekends than during other times of the year. I believe that the reason that this is the case has a lot to do with the fact that people tend to drink when they go to various different holiday celebrations. This weekend is a big holiday weekend and I know that the number of car accidents that happen that end up in fatalities are going to be higher this weekend than they have been for the last several weeks here.

The moment of having a traumatic accident or even incidents, it creates fear or phobia. It will take time to adjust or overcome the bad experience. I've been in that kind of situation, the feeling of letting will go come in due time. So we need to be careful driving on the road this holiday season.

It is the same here. Holidays and weekends would see increased obituaries in the papers. Over the weekends and holidays the pubs and other Nightspots are allowed to operate until 2 am so people drink to no limit. The only problem is they drink and drive which not only risking their own lives but also to other road users.

I must agreed that mostly accidents happened during holiday time. One of the main factors that contribute to accident is because of rush. When veryone is rushing to their destination, they tend to overlook the danger and drives dangerously. Only too late to realise and lose the lives of his loved ones and sometimes even the driver's own life as well. That is why, sometimes it's better to drive slowly and reach destination late. Because driving in a rush is too risky and dangerous.

That's interesting, but not really that surprising. Another reason why there are more accidents on holidays could be, I suspect, because people are doing more unfamiliar things, and something different, so they routes they take are different and less familiar. Whereas work days involve a lot of routine, so people are familiar with the parts of the roads on their everyday routes that are most risky. Though also with holidays people might be in a rush, have too much luggage in the car, and things like that as well. Though we don't want to start banning holidays to avoid accidents, just be more aware of the risks I think.

yes, i too have heard about this. This may be because on holidays people are more in enjoyment mode and many drink and drive. Holidays are meant for enjoying and refreshment not to over do anything. But people just loose their sense and ultimately loosing their lives.

Its because many young people/students-holiday makers/vacationists get to drive with no experience at all and its when many people do boosing to much so it leads to many accidents.
