Wondering what it takes and if people make money on personal blogs

A personal blog sounds like fun and I wonder how much it takes to have a successful one. I worry a bit about personal info and that has been my reluctance to get involved with places like facebook. Anyone have experience that they would/could share??

I blog and I find it real fun . I think to make your blog successful is to do a lot of promotion if you want traffic . Making a personal social page is also good . Get your blog listed in some online directory .
I am not a expert , just sharing a little thing I know .

I worry about sharing personal info and pictures..isn't that almost a requirement to have a successful blog..I am reluctant to use facebook for that very reason. Do you make money through your blog? I never thought about it before and always assumed most blogs were strictly entertainment rather than money makers..

Blogs and Facebook are as personal as you choose them to be. If you don't want personal information on them then mark the contact information that is mandatory to set up on the site private. Then only the site administration can see that information as well as you and not the whole world. I use Facebook as an additional way to post links to the articles I write. I don't include personal information and things I do in my private life on there. If I need to send a message to a friend or family member I usually email, write or call them personally, not post to the internet.

You mentioned that you write articles-is that for your blog, or another writing site? Is there a website to start publishing a blog? I've been hearing a lot about it, so I'm wondering what the initial steps are.
