Hi, mylotters, do you have high hopes for your government?
I am really excited when I heard about the remarks from our new president in our country. He said the main mission of the government is to meet people's desire, such as having better education, more stable jobs, more income, greater social security, better medical and health care, improved housing conditions...and so on. I know our government have taken on this important responsibilities for its people. Although, there are still some wrong and misunderstanding. I have a high hope for my government.
Hi, my dear mylotters, when you have a new president, do you have the same feeling, being full of hopes.

Yes, that is possible. but it is also possible that the people will be ignored when it clashes with what politicians have in mind. Also, no amount of protest can change a government unless the people will force them out of power. Political leaders usually don't pay for the expensive and big mistakes they do for the country. They just get a slap on the wrist sometimes. No matter how good the idea is, if it is not enforced, nothing will happen.

Frankly, I don't have high hopes for it. Actually my friends and I also think alike. And it seems many people here don't think it will have a big improvement. They have kept promising us so much but I don't see something positive after that. Actually the situation seems to be worse as time goes by. Such as the corruption is becoming much more terrible. And the people's health care, education etc. are not well covered yet. And the young people will have to delay their retirement ages. Who knows what will happen at that time.

With change ,one always hope for the best (or better) and not for the worst. As much I want to pin my hopes on leaders and politicians, I don't because they are merely words to soothe the people for the time being. I am more convinced by the actions taken by the government. Only then will I express my opinion regarding their governance.
Like youI have very high hopes but I try to keep them low. I'm just being realistic and tired of being disappointed. Not all of them will happen because many people are involved in doing those things.people in government don't always agree with each other and sometimes, their political ambition blinds them. Sad fact but true. I try not to be judgmental but I'm not the type who wear rose-colored glasses either. Just hope for the best and if it comes.

Such promises such as better education, stable jobs, more income and great social security etc. can be heard from every new president.
I also learnt such hopes and promises from Obama after he won the succession. So many presidents show their promises and ambition, but how many of them realize these promises. I think we all witnessd the development under their governing, so we have the right to assess.
I also want to give my high hopes to the government, but hopes are only hopes. I am looking forward our generations of presidents can hold our hopes to make our country forward.:)

To be honest,i have high hopes in our government, especially in the economic.I think that our government can concentrate on to developmentand stable economic when all the world's economic is hard. There's no doubt that although China government made some wrong ,such as cultrue of economic backward ten years. An then china government hasn't made in discussion according to society reality. But those are a country must happend in history of the road.So i have high hopes in our government in furture but i think that everyone should have high hopes in theirself government because it's taking to confidence of government to do work when we do it.

i like President Obama and i agree with him on alot of things which is why i recently voted for him. i don't have high hopes for the government overall since politicians like to play games of chicken with very serious issues that without a doubt need compromise on both sides. politicians use to compromise and understand they need to work together, but now they don't seem to understand that. I have a great deal of confidence in capitalism and the ability of America to innovate. i personally feel that innovation is the only way that our economy is going to begin to stabilize as long as government doesn't favor certain businesses. i still blame George W. Bush and for making bad political decisions. never in our history has there been tax cuts during times of war like during the George W. Bush years which contributed to a ballooning deficit.

Let me just say that I have high hopes for myself, and I hope that government does not get in my way. I am so glad you have high hopes. In our country we have high debt and quite possibly higher taxes. People do not know what to make of all the changes that are going to affected them, but there is a lot of hope as well as a lot of uncertainty. You can't please everyone. This is the reason for many people to see what that can do to change their lives. This thinking will help one persevere no matter what politics changes are does not.

I used to have high hopes when a new president is elected.. That was then when I was young and very much innocent. But now that I have been around for quite a time, I could say that there is no hope for ours. There is always corruption no matter who is sitting there on top. Regardless if the president is or is not corrupt, city officials, and most of those sitting in lower positions tends to do corruption. This is the reason why our countrymen are suffering and in my case, I just rely to myself rather believe in the corrupt system.

Hi!
Yes, I do have high hopes for my government. The city where I live in just elected a new governor couple weeks ago. For this, I really hope he can really make huge changes, especially related to traffic and pollution. Currently, the traffic in my country was very, very bad! Now, I see some improvement (although still a little), that the elected governor managed to buy new buses to take more passengers in one time, and I heard that he's going to get a vendor from other country that can clean the rivers and take all the garbage / wastes from there. I really hope this is not only the beginning, since we have been waiting for someone who can take action.
As for a president, we will elect a new president in 2014 and I really, really hope that the future president is someone who is assertive, vocal and care about his people. Corruption should be able to be stopped here in my country. From there, I believe we will have a better country :))

Having a high hope is a good thing, god blessing you.
in my case, quite opposite,i do not have hope for my government. the whole social lets me can not breath at all,if i have a chance ,i would like to move to another country. our leaders only cares about themselves ,even they've issued some good policy but that cannot cover their fault.

Change is a part of our everyday lives. It is the only constant in the world. Humans have this capacity to cope no matter what the change may bring.
Leaders change, yes. It happens all the time, so what is new about that? None. If a new President comes, will my life change? No. I met a lot of people who live not knowing what's going on in politics. They do just fine. What I'm saying is that better life comes not because the President changes, better life comes from working hard on it.
Some would think that if a leader changes, he may bring better opportunities, but we should put in mind that hope and expect are two different words. We should never lose hope on our leaders but we should never ever let them shoulder the responsibility to feed us. I think that's the most basic problem in this world, EXPECTATION. We expect too much that leads us to disappointment.
So my answer is yes, I have high hopes for our government, hopes that one day we will be united and equal, but I don't expect those to happen with them working alone, because it is the mankind's duty to each other.

For me I say yes, I have hopes also for a better tomorrow for our country whenever we elect our next president. During the elections, we may hear a lot of promises, this and that on how they can make the country move forward towards progress, likewise sharing their vision on how to attain such dream. However, almost if not all of these promises were broken once, a candidate was able to attain his chair as a leader of our country. Instead of a new dawn of progress, comes a new dawn of
personal interests and corruption here and there. To think that a president will stay in power for almost 6 years, and when people were able to choose the wrong one then it's all doom for the country. Elections gives us the will to change whom will lead us and seek the right path towards a better country. That is why, people must choose wisely, and when elections are over then the whole nation will watch and hope for a brighter tomorrow from the new leadership.

We often here those sweet promises by the time the election campaign starts until they have seated on their respective posts. I'd rather see the results than hear them promise all over again.

Hi, yes.. I have high hopes for my country and the government. I'm proud to say I'm a Filipino even though we look very little in the eyes of the world and there is so much corruption in the government.
At least I could say that our president this time is doing his hardest to fight all these corruptions. Our president is not perfect but at least his making things right for the government.
I just hope and pray too that the good will prevail and the not good one will just simply go away. We deserve what's best.
Thanks for the discussion and happy mylotting.

Yes, one reason is that the muslim separatists group and our govenment have signed a peace agreement ending decades of war between muslim and christians in the south. I cannot find that anywhere in the world now, where peace agreement between muslim and christians have been signed ending a war, giving peace a chance in solving their problems.

No absolutely not. Be my country all the leaders are corrupt. They just want to make money to come on government. So how we keep high hope but I would say extremely hopeless.
