When people talk about pizza, they will relate it with Italy. When people talk about sushi, it is related to Japan. So I wonder what's the typical food in China? I can't decide which food can present my country since there are quite a lot of food here.

Most chinese restaurant here in my country serves noodles, siopai and dimsun. Steam vegetables normally with oyster sauce and special.spicies from china. That's what I know about chinese foods.

Fried rice, of course! My only association with Chinese food is the Chinese restaurants in the United States. The problem is, I don't know how closely those dishes resemble something that might be served and eaten in China! For example: I have Mexican friends and they say that the mexican restaurants don't really serve true Mexican foods but a 'Tex-Mex' version that most Americans call mexican food. There are authentic mexican restaurants that my friend took me to, but unless she had told me, I never would have realized a difference!

it's not wondering vos China has the most populated country in the world so China has plenty cultures: clothes, language and food are included. just like my country, I ndonesia, which is also one of the most populated country in the world, i also have difficulty in stating which food has closest meaning with Indonesia cos every part of Indonesia has tgeir own special food. we have Javanese food, Sumatran food or Papua food. all of them are Indonesian food. lol. I think noodle and meatball is special food which reminds me about China. 'mantau' is also reminds me about China. it is special bread originated from China, isnt it? is the name mantau? whag do you say it in Chinese? what about Indonesia, what food can remind you about my country? :)

thanks fir the best response..:) i never tried mantou before. it is sold at stores actually, but the price quite high. im almost sure that it is imported. beside i dont know how to consume mantou. is it cooked first or not or fried or baked. i really dont have idea. or is it just eaten like anothet common bread? i really wanna try it someday. i saw mantau on chinese movie. but the most impressive for me is mantou in Shaolin Soccer. we know that Vicky Zao played as a mantou maker. i really wanna try mantou after watching that movie. lol. yup, indonesia is famous with the coffee. indonesia has maybe the most expensive coffee in the world called 'kopi luwak' means luwak coffee. have you ever heard about this coffee? or maybe you ever tried it at Sturbucks? lol..

I have heard "chow mei" so many times from the foreigners, but I really have no idea what it is. I can't recall a Chinese food sound like that. Is it fried noodles?

Whenever I think of China, I think of chinese food my favourite! Especially sweet and sour dishes and crispy fried duck, maybe you can present crispy duck? My mouth is watering talking about chinese food and how I haven't had chinese food for months now. Or crispy seaweed not sure if that is a unique chinese dish?

I haven't been really to china and i am not very aware of what their staple food is, though i think it may vary from region to region. All i know is that people will actually relate a lot of dimsum dishes to China... but then they are also available in hongkong and in singapore. :D Perhaps... We can relate take out boxes to China?! :D hehe

When you say food in China, the first few things that come to my mind would be: jiazi or dimsum, chaomian or fried noodles and baozi or steamed buns with variety of fillings. For me, those would be the top three food, you can choose from those if you'd like.

I think so. In the North China jiaozi and noodles may be much more popular, in the South China dimsum is much more important.

Due to China is such a big country then there are so many famous and delicious foods in different provinces,we Chinese really can proud of that.We have Eight cuisines and every cuisine is special. But if you really want to pick up one as a typical food then I think may be dumpling can be the one.

When I was in China, the most cuisine I see in the restaurant that they used to eat are siopao, siomai, etc. But majority of their foods are oily. That's the reason why most of them drink hot tea after meal.

In the South China the dishes will not be so oily, spicy and salty.

To list down, typical food in China would be noodles although the food types are somehow divided by culture in that country. But when you visit China you would find it extremely hard to resist the Pecking duck, pork and the Cantonese dimsum. Now I'm hungry
