My inbox is full of notifications of great discussions that I want to participate, but I need to start preparing for a job interview tomorrow. I am striving to prioritize. It is just hard when there are other things that you want to do. What do you do? How do your prioritize and get things done when there are other things that you want to do?

You have to focus on the thing that will give you more help in your life.
As you said that Mylot is the play ground for you, so forget about it for a while.
Any way, we won't go anywhere.
We will wait you for the great news of the result.
Wish you all the best.

Devilova, yes myLot is definitely playtime. I am starting to like the analogy of work hard and play even harder. That is the nice thing about myLot that it always here waiting for us when we have time to share with others online. Well, I am still waiting for news on the position, but myLot is keeping me busy so I have no time to obsess over whether or not I got the job. I am just hoping for the best! Truly, I need for my luck to turn around, so I am hoping to catch a break with a streak of good luck in the future. Either that or I will need some green leaf clovers and a map of how to find the pot of gold at the end of the elusive rainbow.

I usually shut down my laptop or try to prevent me to getting to the task I want to avoid, that is usually how I start studying. I love to play some calming music like classical or instrumental music. It relaxes me and helps me concentrate for tasks like projects or studying. When taking short breaks I usually do some easy puzzles like crosswords, sudokus(love these puzzles), or word searches. Instead of using the laptop and getting glued to it for quite a long time..

Thank you for the advice. Putting on some instrumental music helped me to focus. I found my CD with harp music on it. I love the sound of the harp, and it is so calming.
Well seeing as I was using the laptop to research the position, research possible questions, and script out some answers, it would have been pretty hard to shut it down. Maybe I will try that trick when I need to do housework as I tend to get distracted and spend more time online then cleaning. LOL!

Well you can mylot here for a little bit, then do things you need to do to prepare for your interview tomorrow then come back on and respond to more discussions before you go to bed. I sign off and on here all night long until I go to bed. There's been tons of discussions lately that I love to reply too. I'm happy to see this site active again.

Blondie, yes it is great to see the site so active lately.
That is pretty much what I did that I was on myLot for a little bit; then I went to go work on preparing for the interview. I sneaked a peak once at this discussion but the wonderful posts of my friends here reminded me that I needed to foucs on preparing for the interview, and the advice of the few posts that I did briefly read here even helped me to prepare for the interview. Then, I had a great thought for a new discussion that I posted here quickly before I attempted to go to bed.
Well, that is when I found Tigger's not so subtle message that something else needed my immediate attention before bed. That caused a delay with getting to bed, but it could not be avoided.

Good luck on your job interview. I think you should try to use mylot to search for topics that could help with your interview, there are a lot of topics here that my help. That way you could still be here and add the search words to your search earnings. Or, if you think you are already prepared with your interview, then that is the time you can participate. I think your job interview is more important than participating here because after your interview, you will still be able to see all those discussions waiting for you. While your job interview only happens one time and will never wait for you to answer your questions on the next hour.

You always have a lot of things to do especially when you are here in Mylot! And yes, I understand that you really love mylot, I might also be wanting to stay here than get prepared for my interview because I feel tense when I do so, while if I am here, I will surely feel relaxed. And sorry to hear about your search tab not working or not getting any credits for using it. You might want to contact the admin for that so you could get something for using it. Hope you get in with the job you were interviewed at.

Hi aireanna
Well when there are really important things which I have to do and stay away from my computer, the first thing that I do is shut this computer down. If I dont do that I will find myself back here and using the computer and forgetting that I have other work which is more important.. This has happened to me and I also find this happening to you as otherwise you would not have had other discussions on MyLot until your Interview was over.
And yes, I have a small list of things which are priority these days - cooking, sleeping, going to grocery, cleaning up and sleeping (beside mylot and other works I do online). And I do Not start my computer until I have finished the cooking for the time.

Getting things don and getting the priorities in order sometimes becomes a task in itself. I know when I was working I had things pretty much in order, but not everything got done. Now, well, I try to get things done, but there always seems to be something getting in the way. It is strange how things work out.

inertia, I agree with you. We always have the best intentions to get everything done; then it seems like life somehow happens and even the best laid plans go astray somehow. I am glad to here that striving to get priorities in order is a task in itself. I am striving to learn strategies to be better at time management and organization. It is helpful to hear that planning how to get everything done is a task in itself. I think we sometimes tend to forget that especially when we are striving to keep balance in our life, keep track of everything, and keep all the balls in the air with none crashing to the floor.

I had to transcribe a 35-minute audio yesterday and I felt like I did it the whole day. Even when I felt like doing myLot I had to prioritize my principal source of income first. It took a bit of self-control and I was just driven yesterday to finish the transcription.

joliefille, it is good when we are driven to focus. For me though it sometimes is hard to settle down and focus even when I am really needing to get something done. Sometimes it is like I am just easily distracted. I need to learn how to shut out things and just focus on one project sometimes. I am really good at multitasking, but I know that when it comes to a project I need to reining in my focus so I can concentrate upon getting it completed.

Aries you are so kind. Yes, I really do need to get the job. My fingers are crossed hoping for some good news. I really want the position, and it is driving me crazy having to wait to here there decision. At least, I have tons of discussion here on myLot to get caught with so that is keeping me busy and helping me to keep my mind from obsessing over the job.

Mylot will be here after your interview! If you are still checking mylot, here are some ways that I have found to be helpful in getting ready for job interviews.
Practice answering these questions:
Why do I want to work here?
What does this job mean to me, considering my current and future goals?
How would I summarize each of my previous jobs?
What have I learned from my previous jobs that will help me in this job?
What skills and opportunities would I like to gain from this job?
What have I learned about myself through previous jobs and experiences?
What are the goals of this company?
How long has this company been in operation and what is its reputation?
Try to review as much as possible about your own experience and preferences, and then research the company. Write down any questions you would like to ask them. This will boost your confidence and ensure a fruitful interview.
Of course, you want to look professional and have your CV/resume/references already printed and in a nice looking folder...everything ready to go.
The better you prepare, the more confident and relaxed you will feel. Don't forget that it is not only them interviewing you--you are also interviewing them! They will be lucky to have you as their employee!

habibti, thank you for the advice. I did a lot of preparing and it really helped me to feel confident walking into the interview. I am wondering though if I need to learn to shorten my answer to the opening tell us about yourself. I seem to give a very good background stating all the positive attributes and strengths that I will bring to the position. Then, lots of times they will say well you kind of already answered the this question for a couple of the following questions. Then of course, I continue to build up from the foundation that I initially set with my response to their opening question. What are your thoughts?

First, I would get calm take some deep breaths, relax alittle, and then start preparing, you'll have time to mylot, but it is important that you prepare yourself
getting clothes together and haveing the right anwser to the questions that will be asked, so think about whats important that you have to do, pray on it and you will be just fine, good luck on that interview.

BreeSoFrugal, thank you for the great advice. Your post reminds me that I need to go wash a pair of panty hose to wear tomorrow.
