At last I have purchased a new computer for me.

I was out of mylot for a couple of days as my computer was out of order and it could not be repaired at any cost. So I had to part with that old computer and purchased a new one. It is smaller in size than the previous one and is running fast. The previous one was so slow that I often got irritated. Time and again I had thought of the purchase of a new one, but could not as I had developed some sort of love and affection for the existing one. But this time as the mechanic gave the verdict of its death and there was no chance of recovery, I had no other alternative but to purchase a new one. I am now very much satisfied with it. It is working fine for me. I had asked the dealer for installation of Windows 8. But both the dealer and my mechanic advised me not to install Windows 8 as the review of Windows 8 is not encouraging. They even restrained me from installation of Windows 7. So like in my old computer, Windows XP was installed which would subsequently be replaced by Windows 7 or 8. I am very much pleased and like to share my joys with you. At the same time, I want your suggestion about installation of Windows 7 or 8.

I think before you make any decision just visit a microsoft outlet in your city and check out the new windows 8.Its a great OS featuring very slick user interface, user friendly and an attractive design sure it does not support that much apps as compared to windows 7 but overall its a promising OS and microsoft will support it to make it even better so you can consider it if not then windows 7 is here you can install it anytime you want. hope this help, good luck :)

This is quite a good suggestion because it gives the opportunity to use it for a while and see how you fare with the interface. I find it to be an excellent operating system, but trying it yourself and making your own decision is far better than accepting advice form another user.
I would certainly recommend NOT purchasing Windows 7 before checking out Windows 8 because the upgrade to Windows 8 is the same price from either of those.

I suggest either 7 or 8. I have read mixed reviews on Windows 8, it is something you would love or hate - just like Vista.
My suggestion is go to a shop that have Windows 8 on display and try it out. If you like it then go for it. Window XP is definitely out since the support ends on April 2014, after which there will be not patches.
Windows 8 will have much longer support but you might find some applications or peripherals that are incompatible. If those are not a factor, then try it out in the store display and then decide.

I can appreciate them being way about Windows 8 since it is still quite new, but I have used it for several months and as far as I am concerned it is a worthwhile operating system. As for advising against Windows 7, there is no illogical reason for that.
Windows XP is fine as an operating system but it is very outdated now and should not be offered as part of a new computer. I assume that you bought this from someone who builds computers and sells them because this would be the only explanation for suggesting Windows XP.

I would say that the only real way to know is to actually experience it yourself, and I am pertaining to Windows 8 here, so why not have a try on it and see if it's really that bad or actually better than expected, you would probably head that way eventually so why not start now, right?

I feel, windows 7 so far has been the best OS build by Microsoft. Windows 7 is stable and has a lot of features that xp don't. to begin with, windows 7 in itself has an XP mode, so you can use the application that you want to with XP mode on a similar platform. Windows 7 has a way around to manage the battery if you are using a laptop. Unlike XP windows 7 DOES have a real system restore facility, XP's didn't work. It also comes with BITLOCKER(anti-virus) which by the way is free to download. So all in all, xp, yes its good but windows 7 is far better.
I haven't downloaded windows 8 yet, but I sure am planning to sometime soon, so far, the reviews that I have heard, they have been good.

I am sorry your old computer quit working, but I'm glad you were able to replace it so quickly. Few things are worse than being cut off from your online life when you depend on the computer for so many things. Congratulations on the new machine!

Good luck with your new computer. I am happy you can do things much faster. But it seems to me that MicroSoft has been having some bad luck when it comes to operating systems. Ever since Vista they have never seemed to get it right. I used to work on windows XP and thought it was the best OS that MicroSoft ever made. But, I am a Mac person do I use OSX.

No site requires an Apple computer. But I prefer Apple over MicroSoft any day of the week. I also love OSX. For me I find it much more user friendly. Anything MicroSoft makes my head spin. Everything is always so difficult and nothing is ever straight forward.

Windows 7 is a very good operating system. I some how didn't liked the looks of Windows 8. In my opinion you should try using windows 7.

Glad to hear that you got your new computer and you are satisfied with it :)
I have been wanting to get mine as well, but due to financial issues i was not able to buy one until now. I actually just using our company's computer or sometimes my cellphone to access my account here at Mylot. Hopefully one day i'll be able to have my old pc repaired or buy a new one.
Speaking of operating systems, i think Xp would still be the best because it does not require a high computer hardware specifications. Windows 7 is quite good but a little laggy if your computer is not having a high specifications. I have not tried the Windows 8 yet, but yeah, reviews doesn't say anything good about it so you may not wanna try using it yet.

I was planning a new one for a pretty long time, but as my old computer was working on repair, I was delaying. But as the mechanic gave it up and advised me not to spend any further on it, I had no other alternative but to purchase a new one. Like you, I also prefer windows Xp as I am quite comfortable with it. But I will definitely switch over to windows 7 whenever I would find it suitable for it.
