It's really inhumane and cruel. Birds are designed to be free.... I'm saying even if a bird is really attached to a human (like they were saved by a certain person, and they see them as their mama), they should be kept free, or at least in a big place, not in a tiny cage... I always feel sorry about all those little birds who are stuck in cages in pet shops... there used to be a pet shop in the underground of a mall that I frequently go to, and there was a huuuge aquarium there which has all these little ones and cages in, so the people passing by would see the animals... poor birds,,,

Yes, dear Anil! In my opinion keeping the birds in cages for the entertainment of human beings is inhumane and it is cruelty again the animals. Like any living beings birds are also have the right to share the nature. By keeping them in cages we in fact are snatching their freedom and depriving them from their basic rights.
Well there are two aspects to be considered here. There are two types of birds which are kept in cages as pets. First types of birds are those which are trapped from the nature directly and they are caged as pets for the entertainment of the people. The second type of cages birds are those who are bred in captivity. That means these birds are born in cages only. Normally such birds are being bred for many generations and because of this possibly they are genetically adapted to cage environment.
In case of the birds captured from wild and kept in Cages, it becomes practically impossible for them to get adapted to this new surroundings as they miss the different types of natural food, the natural environment, the tough exercise which they used to have while flying from place to place and mostly they miss the companionship which they used to have in the nature. In a cage they hardly can get all the above mentioned things.
In case of birds bred in captivity, like love birds they can easily get adapted to cage environment and they may not survive in the nature if left alone as the other birds will prey upon such birds.
Thus in conclusion, keeping the birds captured from the nature or Wild and caging them is very inhumane and they should be left back to the nature as we don't have any rights to deprive them of their natural rights. Yes, when it comes to birds bred in captivity which have got adapted cage environment, it is Ok as these birds also enjoy the cage and companionship of the human beings! Thanks a lot for the nice topic of discussion, I liked participating in it!

When we were touring Vietnam in 2006, we noticed a man with many small birds in a cage near the entrance to a Buddhist Temple. He was asking tourists to buy a bird and set it free, and quite a few were giving him money, and watching their bird fly away. Our Tour Guide told us not to give him money because when the birds were hungry they would fly back to the cage where he would feed them, and sell them again tomorrow.

It should be stopped.Because we have no rights to jail them in cages. But we could see that this is still practised merely for money, we should not allow this anymore..

Like human being, birds have the right to be free so birds can fly freely in the sky.

i think they should be stopped.. i is juts sad seeing animals be kept in cages.. any animal indeed. Especially birds since they are not even mammals, they do not bond with us people- and they belong in the air, flying.. they should be freed- if they come back to their owners, then good.
