I don't see much of this on Mylot but on other sites I notice a lot of rude comments and reactions some of which are just way below the belt. I have read that people doing this have the courage doing this only online where they are anonymous but can't do it face to face.

Yeah! Some people is so brave to bully other person thru online. They tend to say things below the belt in some social sites. And their are people who just love bullying anyone they fancy. I really don't know why those sites allow those rudeness and cruelty. Mind you, the reason why bullying became more rampant is because those sites allowed it to happen.

I agree that it should be the responsibility of the site to police such behaviour, but the members should accept some responsibility. It destroys the social value of a site even if the abuse is directed at someone else because we do not use social networks to read such things. Members should complain to the webmaster and if it is not controlled then cease visiting the site, this way the webmaster will feel more inclined to become involved.

Is it possible that they intentionally ignore such behavior to make their sites controversial thus attract more visitors?

Hi,
That is true, it's a coward's way of behaving so rude towards someone while hiding his/her identity. It's a very common problem online now a days. And it seems like the more we try to stop them the more they get worse. They will only pick at you and say stupid stuff. So I think it is better to just ignore them.

It is always easier for people to behave in such a manner while cloaked in the anonymity of the internet. The same scenario often replied to the telephone, although the practice of hiding behind a telephone is rare nowadays because it is difficult to be anonymous with caller line identity. People often say things to others about a person, but behave differently when they speak to the person concerned.
I have witnessed such behaviour here, but it was a very long time ago. Disagreeing with someone is fine because we all have different opinions and that is what makes a discussion, but genuine abuse and offensive remarks are not permitted at Mylot. There is nothing to stop someone joining Mylot and behaving that way, but they would be reported immediately by most members.

Yes mylot allows members to be frank but not rude.
In some sites though it is not monitored and some people can just say whatever they want not minding if it's already hurtful and abusive.

I agree, but I wouldn't use the word "courage" when it comes to making rude comments online. It's actually a real weakness and one that is easy to cave into when no one knows who you are. I think we all do that at one time or another when the right "buttons" are pushed. There are a heck of a lot of people out there who seem to thrive on a bad attitude and outlook, or else their lives are so miserable that they think it'll help to spread the misery around a bit. They can be darn hard to ignore, and that's what I try my best to do. Sometimes I just respond, "Ok, thanks and bye".

Yes Noliah they're actually cowards and miserable. It's best to just ignore them so they will be disappointed because that's what they want, your attention.

It is so true what you are say about there being lots of rude comments online. Most of it has do with the feeling of detachment that the internet give people. People that would usually never speak their mind they do because the are behind the safety of their computer screens. Then you have those people that are just plain rude naturally and the internet is just another way for them to spread their unpleasant nature with the world.

Yes I am sure that some people need to do it to unload themselves . Human beings are all different .some of them can speak freely some of them are afraid to hurt someone and some of them don't have anyone to talk with so the Internet becomes a place where a lot of people can unload their problems.
I am not really angry when somebody is rude to me I think better here then anywhere else where people can get hurt, and when they go to far I just remind them that they have to take a step back

That is what I had said in one of my discussions highlighting why myLot is different from other social networking sites. Here there are guidelines that bar users from being rude which is such a blessing. Else there would have been fireworks of the worst kind!

If peoople who writeo n Mylot were rude to me or to one another I would cease to use it. It is refreshing to find a place where people help and encourage one another and this makes it something to value. I have not been on many other sites and I hope that MyLot is not unique. Contributors here feel safe to open their hearts to one another in ways that we would not perhaps do if we were face to face. That makes our discussions and our on line relationships special. Long may it stay that way.

Mylot is a friendly site , you can't be rude here because it will affect your reputation , co members can rate to the way we respond , so if you're rude , you're just placing account on risk. Also, why do we need to be rude when we can be kind a and friendly to everyone.

Yes, i do notice that also and thank God here in Mylot it's prohibited. I think rudeness is against in the Netiquette behavior. Netiquette, or net etiquette, refers to etiquette on the Internet. Good netiquette involves respecting others' privacy and not doing anything online that will annoy or frustrate other people. Three areas where good netiquette is highly stressed are e-mail, online chat, and newsgroups. For example, people that spam other users with unwanted e-mails or flood them with messages have very bad netiquette. You don't want to be one of those people. If you're new to a newsgroup or online chat room, it may help to observe how people communicate with each other before jumping in.

I don't think these people have respect for etiquette in general, most likely if they're rude online it's really in their character.

But mylot is completely different and a big thank goes to Mylot admin and friends in mylot, even if some one behave in such way, in any situation, admin takes quick action on this.

yes, it is very easy to be rude online since this is not face to face communication. Even we are rude, who care, we donot know each other in real life. That people who are rude online may hold such kind of opion. Anyway, being rude is impolite even we are not familar with each other.

Exactly! The anonymity makes one to be courageous and tough. And because they do not reveal who they really are, these persons just tell anything what they want without thinking twice.

That's true. Mylot is a different kind of online environment wherein most of us if not all, would really want to put our heart on every opinion or advice that we give are fellow Mylot members. It is very unlike other sites wherein, they would just be fooling around and not be sensitive towards others's feelings.

Since the internet carry out a wide connection of people from all parts of the world and we can express ourselves with various subjects that we are capable and has knowledge with. It is no doubt that people would either love it or hate it.
Because the internet in today’s generation is solely working out with social media platforms, many are fond of registering to social networking to communicate but sadly, because we are free to express ourselves be it with speech or expression on social media, Some people are abusive to such remunerations that the internet is offering.
One reason why Cyber Bashers are very rampant is because we have no proximity to them physically, this means that because we don’t have the same locality as oppose to such bashers, they will keep on bashing and bashing because they feel secured on their wrong doings because we can’t confront them personally.

Agree with your standpoint. yes, we should always take precaution on every statements we are rendering in some social media and online platforms because it can make or break a situation. It's also important to take education on responsible usage of social medias and online sources so that we can test ourselves with the limitations we give out.

Hi heaytheblogger, I think these people have character problems to begin with. Many of us use the internet and enjoy freedom of expression but knows the boundaries. We could agree or disagree with certain topics, comment on posts or on videos because you're right it's either we love or hate what we see. There are proper words to use if we want to express our opinions, we don't need to be rude and nasty.

You do have a point about anonymity, though. People don't feel as responsible when they don't know or see the person they are offending. I think that some conversations also escalate as there are trolls and people who try to rile others up.

Easier .... hmmmm... yes, rude comments and reactions are welcome here in mylot. I have been attack so many times. But I don't take any offense on it. We are all mature and I know myself better than this person, so if this person attacked me by giving harsh comment I don't really mind for me... YOU SOB will not affect how I think.. and YOU F! will never ever get my attention. LOL,

Hi Lovegreen
Well you are right. Mylot is a much safer place as money and reputation is involved. But in other sites there is nothing to lose. I do not know about the other sites but in youtube this is very common. And the funny thing about it is that their comments as in most of the times have no far off connection with the above video. I am not sure but may be because they are not able to vent off their anger and frustration in real life they are doing it as anonymous in internet. Anyways have a nice day ...

Hi SuperShames, yeah I noticed that too. The comments have nothing to do with the video at all. If they're venting out I hope they find other positive ways to do it.
