I was down with running nose, sore throat and cough for three
weeks already. Yes, I craved for more vitamin C to boost my immune
system. I mix Ribena drink with lime juice, it is really good and
relieve me from all the irritation for awhile. However, I personally
think drink coconut water helps a lot during this hot season.

I just eat citrus fruits when i wanted to, i do not often eat them. THe oranges are one of my favorite citrus fruit, When i have cough or runny nose i sometimes make calamansi juice with warm water and it is really effective. I am not really into taking medicines because i am afraid that it would have side effects and also it has a bitter flavor.ahaha

Dear jeztrose,
In Malaysia, drinking calamansi juice is really good for
sore throat too. It is a very sale able drink during the
hot season here. Too much medicines is no good, truly
agree with you on this point.

Oranges are my favorite fruit. I do agree that citrus fruits are very beneficial. I eat lots of oranges when I have a cold. Putting lemon juice in hot water and adding a little honey is also very beneficial for healing when having a cold. One of my favorite summer time beverage is lime juice and club soda and with a little sweetener. Add some ice and it is indeed a refreshing cool drink.

I love to eat oranges and drink lime juice. It is good for our health
and I find it relieve my throat. When the waitress serve my son with
a slice of lime, he will quickly take it out and pass to me. I will eat
it even it is sour. He will always wonder how I can do it. I just love
citrus fruit, that's why! Drinking citrus fruits that is rich with vitamin
C and with zinc it will help to boost our immune system.

I love oranges (Sweet one)but can't pretend to like the other sour fruits in this category. By the way I heard that at least two Oranges a day would be beneficial for my health and keep the doctor away. Is that the cause of your craving?

Yes, or maybe you are about to have your period, so you are craving with these foods. hormonal change. If a person is sick, the person's immune system is signaling something thru the brain telling the person to eat something to boost the system. or if a person is sick then, the taste buds is affected, sometimes causing loss of appetite and the food have the same taste bland or some times the medicine is affecting the taste buds. WARNING: THIS IS NOT FROM A DOCTOR'S KNOWLEDGE. so this is just an opinion of the person with colds too right now.

Oranges are my favorite fruit. And I do consider eating citrus fruit to be beneficial when I have a cold. Sometimes I squeeze a couple of fresh lemons in a glass and add a little honey to help me when I have a cold. Especially when I feel I am dehydrated and don't really feel like eating. Someone I knew would eat about 10 oranges a day when he had a cold. He was really convinced that eating that much fruit a day helped him get over his cold. I would consider eating fruit in moderation, as there is a lot of sugar in fruit, even and especially with a cold. It's important to become healthy again, but to do so in healthy ways.
