I was shocked to find out this morning, 15 people were got eliminated or fired from last Friday. Most of them are from sales department, and some of them are from management level. That was something not expected, and I felt a bit shaky about it. I remember 2 years ago, about this time closed to Christmas, also many people got let go. Now, it happen again. I just wonder if those people were working in the company too long, or either some of them getting paid too high, and now they would hire need blood that require less salary. Many people gossip about it, and many people still feel shocked from this news. Now, many of them just hope for job security and keep on paying their mortgage.

Your company should consider carefully to fire employees. If a mistake was made because of a slight of negligence, the company should not fire them, but giving them such written warning. It is a disadvantages for the company if they fire their trained employees only because of an ordinary slight mistakes. The company has loss asset and they need to spend more time budget to look and train new employees for qualified workers to replace to the positions of employees whose been fired.

I think this management philosophy is called as widening the pyramid. This means lay off at the top and hire at the bottom. The managements feel that this will bring down the overall cost. There are initial costs such as training for the new joinees but after that they reckon that it would be beneficial. Unfortunately, this seems to be the truth of today's capitalist worlds!!
Cheers!

Any time you work for someone else you are always at their mercy. I have seen that happen over and over again. They do not care about the people with families or anything. To the company it is all about the money, the bottom line. And to do it this time of year is real selfish on the companies behalf.

Talk about bad timing, I guess there is never a good time to find out that you have been eliminated or made redundant from work, but right on the top of Christmas, hardly Christmas cheer is it? Maybe they want to save on Christmas bonuses. You hear it all so common now people losing their jobs, due to this damn recession, I know in our country there is mass unemployment and every day businesses are going to the wall and people are losing their jobs.

What an unsettling thing to have occur. I would feel uncertain, too. It would be nice if working for a company for a long time meant that you had job security.

It is really sad but its happening everywhere! So close to the Holidays is a terrible time to be laid off. My husband got laid off recently and is having a really hard time finding another job! =( I hope he does soon or we won't be having Christmas this year!

I hope the lay off of your co-workers are done in proper process. If they have the basis of ending their contract and it reflects on their performance evaluation. Then it is legit for the company to do it. But I feel bad for them, besides Christmas is fast approaching.

If a company fired out am employee it must be done before December. The manager must have a heart also. Christmas is so important to all especially to the family , the head of the family. Everyone deserves to be happy even in the birth of Christ. If the employee is not meritorious then fine , fire him but not also in Christmas season.
Be human set aside your being high profile manager , after all what is there to be greedy of when you have lift one soul happy.

That is the sad thing when you work on a private company. There is no security of tenure. Although I want to say that you should be happy that you are not one of those who were removed from service, still it's a sad thing to know that this thing can happen to anybody in the company. Just do your job well.
Have a nice day!
