hi friend
I don't think eating sweets has anything to do with age. It depends upon the persons interest. My grandfather has always liked spicy food and still he likes so. Good to know that your mother like sweets but yes she need to check her sugar levels at this age.
I think its better to use honey instead of sugar .It helps to cut down the cholesterol level.

I am sometime eat sweet foods. I am eating more on fruits and vegetables which makes me healthy. I prefer to eat fish like bangus or blue marlin. Just give advice to your mother that she needs to more fruits and vegetables. Stop eating sweet foods to lessen her sugar level.

I don't think it's the age. Maybe she doesn't like the taste of citrus fruits. My mother is diabetic and is advised to refrain from eating sweet fruits. I noticed that the more I tell her not to eat it, the more she craves for it.

Hi,
As you may be aware, all are fond of sweet things as compared to any other taste, in common. Here I think your mom already having the problem with sugar in body and such people would show the liking of sweet food/fruits comparitively more and my mom also has the tendency and she has the sugar problems in her body. Now she is 85 and at good health due to medicines and she lives alongwith one of my sister and I am regularly in touch with her over the phone.

Hi friend
yes it depends upon the taste of the people and how they maintain the balance in eating. so we should always go with how our body reacts to certain things. we should keep in mind what to eat and what not.

Sweet food is also comfort food just like salt food.
Is your Mom lonely?
You say you buy mangoes to decrease her sugar level. Is she diabetic?

I am also in the same age group as your mom,and I like to eat sweet things too,but this is a not a recent tendency.Actually,I acquired it from my Dad.I have a sweet tooth since childhood.
As regarding the health factors associated with sugar and all, there is my daughter to take care of it.She is my diet manager!

It isn't age. People with a "sweet tooth" can be any age.
Dark chocolate (in moderation) can be a healthy thing. Even cakes can be crafted in such a way as to be not terribly unhealthy (However, they usually are not). However, your mother does need to be eating fresh fruits and vegetables.
Since your mother is so fond of sweets, simply choose fruits that aren't sour. Personally, I'm not fond of citrus fruit myself; I especially dislike grapefruit (even grapefruit juice), because the flavor is so unpleasant. Some of us simply don't like such things--even those of us who are big fans of fresh veggies and fruit.

Hi,
I don't know whether the age affects people's taste. I like eating sweet food and also fried food, I know they are the food which are bad for our health, but I just can't resist these kinds of food.
But I have an idea which may be helpful to solve the problem, if your mum likes sweet food, you can bake some cakes with xylitol instead of sugar. Xylitol as a product was first derived from Birch trees in Finland in the 19th century and was popularized in Europe as a safe sweetener for diabetics that would not impact insulin levels.
Thanks for sharing, hope it will be helpful!

I dont think its the age but rather the taste and choice of the person that matters. Most of us like to eat sweet foods, even i myself like to eat sweet foods very much. I also like like salty foods but deosnt like sour and citrus fruits and foods. At the age of 55, one should consume all foods but the quantity should be less and adequate.
