Hi, mylotters, how is your weekend? Have you heard the song called Seasons in the Sun from westlife? Do you know the story behind it? Now let me tell you the moving story behind the song. The gist of the story is like this. That is about three persons, A,B,C. They were classmates of a high school. A and C are good friends from the Childhood. A and C both fell love with B at the same time. Finally, A and B got together. After graduation, A became a cargo driver and C became a carpenter. A married B and had a daughter with her. For the family and their daughter, A often went out for living. B ran a grocery store. C often came to the store to help the mother and daughter. Day by day, B and C had a relationship beyond friendship. One day, A found that his wife and his trusted friend betray him. Facing the betray, A was out of control and killed them. Instead of escaping, A gave himself up to police. He was sentenced to death penalty and wold be carried out in early spring the next year. Before his death, A wrote the text of the song, for his best friend C, for his father, for his father. Hi, mylotters, do you like this song? If you never heard it, I strongly recommend it to you.

The song is actually a revived by Westlife and the original is Terry Jacks. I don't know where you come up with the story. But I know that the song "it might be you" by Stephen Bishop was for a woman he met in elevator ride but didn't know her name. And also the "pretty woman" was inspired by wife of a composer when she said "a pretty woman like me needs no money". I know these things from my older friends who are music lovers.

When I listen to radio, I tune in to station that plays old musics but I never knew about this. Maybe I was too young way back then to know who's who. But thanks for the new info.

I didn' know about the French version either. Terry Jacks is the version I remember most although I do remember the Kingston Trio one only after hearing your link.

I didn't know about all the older versions either, but I do know the Terry Jacks version. It is one of my favorite songs. Where in the world did you get the background story from?

Wow...quite a story but I don't believe it's true. It's a really old song and after reading Lambs responses, it's even older than I thought. Here's yet another interesting version of it and also done prior to Westlife. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H7W6ZQG0xo and a little history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasons_in_the_Sun The original version (French) that I'd not of known about if Lamb hadnt looked it up is not so nice.

I heart that song so much! I had it on an album when I was 12 and in the 7th grade and I don't even remember the name, maybe it was a 45, well anyways I use to play that 45 over and over again. It is such a pretty song. I haven't heard it in such a long time, and then for the first time in ages, it was on the radio and just the other day. I never knew there was a story behind it or how it was inspired to be written. We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun...
