I know I'm partially deaf but as I was sitting watching a movie I thought I heard music! I wasn't sure if it was in the movie or not so I put the tv on mute and indeed there were Christmas carols coming from somewhere so I opened my apt door and looked down the long hallway. I forgot that the activity director sent a notice around about a nearby high school band coming to our lobby to play Christmas Carols and have a little sing along. Since I was already in my pj's and bathrobe and into the movie I decided not to go and listen since if I wanted to I could hear them from my apt. That's how loud they were....I'm partially deaf and could still hear them...especially the brass part of the band!

Aww I miss carolers. Living in a Buddhist country you won't see any of Christmas symbols. What do I expect they are buddhists for earth's sake. grrr... It is really soothing to hear those carolers isn't Ctryhnny? It is really christmas time.

I love Christmas caroling but have only been once in my life. I had so much fun. A group of us high school students got together and went caroling on a cold December night in 1982. We walked all over our neighborhood. One of the houses even gave us hot chocolate and sugar cookies. After we were done caroling we all went out to Little Caesar's for a pizza. I miss those times. I would love to go caroling again one day. I'll have to put that one on my bucket list. Some bands are really loud, and I love listening to them, but if they are to loud, they hurt my ears.

When I was in High School I also went caroling with a bunch of people. Back then when my Mom and Dad were alive I enjoyed it. I don't enjoy it any more.

The Christmas season really filled the air, especially people are singing the songs. Lately, I haven't heard any people having carols in the community. I feel strange; I've been out of my hometown for almost 3 years. I did a quick research; my mom told me that they will start to have carols on 16th of December. That is really different rules in my hometown. In fact, it was the first time I heard this, every first day of the month of December, the caroling starts for the people to go on every neighbor’s area.

I was born with blocked ears and couldn't hear when born. I couldn't speak until I was 4 as I heard no sound and no one knew how to communicate with me before 4. My ears aren't blocked now though as it got sorted out when young around 4 and 5 years old. I still seem to get fluid build up though and hate it. Maybe they are slightly blocked but not sure. I remember singing carols in primary school. I really enjoyed singing. It made me feel happy. I remember playing the recorder in primary school and playing the tenor recorder. In primary school we had 3 instruments to choose from we could play out of a trumpet, violin and flute. One of my sister's was already doing violin, the other one a trumpet so I picked flute as first choice and violin as 2nd. The problem was I couldn't seem to get it right to make a sound come out in my first class and in the 2nd lesson I still struggled and got chucked out because by then everyone could do it except me. I then went to the teacher in charge of music asking if I could do my second choice because of this, she said no I couldn't which I thought was a unfair especially if the music lessons had just started. I'd only have missed 2 classes so I'm sure I would have picked up on the violin much quicker. I was a bit upset by this as other pupils were learning other instruments other than a recorder as well. My sisters' got to play another instrument apart from a recorder too so I was left out. I tried learning a guitar recently and found it hard. I have a guitar someone gave to my dad and no one has used it at all. So I reckon I'm going to have a go at that. An instrument no one has had a go at yet. I just need to get a guitar book on how to play it. I went to a few sessions at my local library who offered the session for free. So understand a tiny bit about the guitar and have a guitar tuner.

I woke up about 4 months ago and could barely hear. I'm lucky to have the 40% hearing in my left ear and because I hate my hearing aids have to depend on that. The decorations I don't mind but Christmas Carols depress me.

Too bad you didn't put the movie on pause and listen. It is good for high school students to be appreciated. Playing in a band helps high school students stay out of trouble and is great discipline for them. Young people need all the support they can get. So, next time, get dressed and give the young people your kindest support. Give support to those young people who are contributing in a positive way, even if they are enthusiastically being noisy - at least they are doing it for a good cause!

Well even at being partically deaf, I am happy you had a chance to enjoy some carolling...Its just always great to help with the Christmas spirit...Yesterday when we were out shopping, the different stores in the mall was playing Christmas songs and it was just festive and I enjoyed it.... The carollers gifts was talking about were from one of the local churches..for the lady across the street belonged to that church and she was not able to get out at that time.. It was a very special feeling...
