Do you still want to be perfect for him after so many years?

I am in a 3 year relationship and I still feel the need to be perfect when I meet with my boyfriend. I will always habe my hair done and I ll be wearing perfume. I also like to have perfectly waxed legs etc, even during the winter. I was wondering if this is the same for women that are in longer relationships or in the marriage! Do you also feel the need to be beautiful and perfect every day, even if you are tired? I imagine that if I was in the cozyness of my own home with my future husband I would not be like that all the time!

No, no, no. Lol. That stopped many years ago for me. Don't get me wrong there are days when I dress up for my husband because I feel like it. But if I am tired or sick heck no I don't! Lol. My husband and I lived together from day one so he saw me at my worst pretty quickly since we woke up next to each other every day. =) But he is still in love with me!

It's nice that you feel so comfortable with each other and I can understand that you might feel tired after a long day and you just want to rest and be cozy in your own home. Even though I don't care how I look when I wake up, I want to take care of myself after we drink our coffee together and look nice for the rest of the day! I think that men appreciate it when they feel that their woman wants to look beautiful for them! I do it for myself as well though :)

I think there is nothing wrong for making yourself beautiful. But it should be for yourself and not for anyone. It is good to feel beautiful for it boost your confidence but a lover must love his partner not because of outer beauty but because of what she really is. For 12 years in married life, of course there is no more consciousness anymore. My husband and I has this same mind thinking that we are one...

I don't mind, it's nice to hear a different opinion. I guess it's because I feel more confident this way! We had a long distance relationship and he just moved here a couple of months ago, so I haven't felt very comfortable yet.

I want to look beautiful for me, but when I am at home alone I am very comfortable with anything. I don't care about how I look as long as I am.cozy and warm. When I am at home with my bf it's different, I am trying to look good and wear nice clothes and have my hair done! So I am wondering if people stop caring about their looks when they are at home with their loved one, when the years pass and they feel completely comfortable with each other.

Sweetie, is there some depth reasoning here? Hope you don't mind... Are you feeling that if you look not good in front of your boyfriend then he will leave you behind and find new girl? Well, you will never be totally happy with anyone if you will only wants to be beautiful to look to. Based on your story you are already 3 years together and for that long you must be comfortable with him at all. I think there is some psychological problem here... But I understand your insecurity, sure I am. With still your hanging question 'when to be comfortable?'... This is my answer, it is only you can tell. Even if I will say it will be sooner and yet if you still not going out of that shell then it is useless... Be what you are! That is all I can say... God bless...

If you have any difficulties may be it is financial or other, better sit together and sot it out. This is the best way you can solve your problems that comes in your life.

We all have our flauds and we are accepted with them, that s for sure! When there is a chance to.improve it is good to take it and become better! But I have seen sometimes in other couples that they have a daily routine as a couple and they let go of themselves. It happens mostly in ling relationships and marriages and I wouldn't like to see myself in that position in the future! I like doing my best to achieve more andmore everyday and become better in my relationship, I hope this never stops!

Of course I would want to. But I'm rather lazy so I only do so on special occasions. I don't let him see me all dolled up all the time. I show him my no effort look and so on. It depends on my mood. But on a special night, special date and when I'm in the mood I will doll myself up. This usually takes him my surprise. He'd sometimes say he is under-dressed if I doll myself up so suddenly. I want to be comfortable around him even when I'm not at my best. So he can see all sides of me. I don't see anything wrong with making ourselves beautiful often around them. I for one know men don't like women who don't take care of their appearance.

That's true, even if I am dressed simply, I will always be careful and have my legs waxed and wear a nice body lotion. What you said about him mentioning that he is under-dressed has happened with my bf as well! When I am in the mood to dress up or when we meet outside and I wear a nice dress and high heels for example, he says that he feels under-dressed! lol But I know that he likes it! Thanks for your nice comment, Merry Christmas!! :)

Haha :) I know what you mean, I also wanted to be perfect in the beginning of my relationship! But sometimes when the time passes, even with Mr. Perfect we tend to relax and be more simple and not so perfect every time we have a date! My boyfriend has seen me once when I was very sick and I really hope that he won't see me like that again! lol I had tissues everywhere and I was very tired from the fever! But he stayed and took good care of me, I really appreciated this!

Haha! I am not married either :) And I still like to look pretty, for me first and also for my bf! But sometimes when a relationship is long, we tend to get bored and let ourselves be less interested on our looks. I have seen this in many married couples and I was wondering if other people have felt this way when they are in long relationships!

no it is a must for us to look good at all times as much as possible. not because of pleasing other people but pleasing yourself as well. that's not bad at all.

I try to be as perfect as I can for my boyfriend, but I feel that if I am too perfect that he will see it as a turn off as well. I heard that many guys don't want their women to be too perfect because it is as if she is trying to really out shine him, and he will feel like he can't live up to her standards.

Hmm.. I am not so sure about that! I know that men don't want to be outshined as you said but the real talent of a man is to make his girlfriend feel like "she is the only gild in the world", isn't it? Powerful women with strong personality might have this effect on some men, but I believe that both persons in a relationship whould do their best to support each other and not try to control and limit the other person's efforts to be perfect due to insecurity.

hi besweet my husband told me when we first married he loved me unconditionally and that he hoped I loved him the same way. we took each other just as we were imperfect humans who loved each other. So I married and I tried to always look good but not prefect as thats not what married love is all about its being yourself and being honest. I was not a slob but I relaxed at home and dressed up to go out someplace. We neither one wanted perfect we wanted hap y and beloved and thats the way our 33 years of marriage went. I am widowed now for a long time

I like your story and your idea of a happy marriage! I am sorry for your loss, it must be very hard to loose the love of your life. Love should be unconditional but I think that some small things can add some interest after a long time in the relationship. I am also dressing up when I go out but I like to look good when I meet with my boyfriend as well. We don't live together, and I remember that when we were spending a lot of time at his place during my visits, before he moves to the same city with me, I was more relaxed about it since I was feeling like home. Now every time we meet I am taking some time to choose what I'll wear and make my hair look nice! I am wondering how it will be in a few years though! Thanks for sharing your story hatley! x

Woah! you really do extra efforts for that huh? well good for you, but for me i do not often make myself beautiful when i am with him,i now rarely use perfume at home. And there are also times that i don't brush my hair the whole day. wahaha And my partner also tells me that being simple without anything on my face etc. is just fine with him so i did not often make efforts to myself now.

Haha! I have always liked take good care of myself regardless if I had a boyfriend or not! For example, I never leave home without perfume :) I have also heard from friendly discussions with my male friends that they appreciate the natural beauty in women and even though they like them when they are outside with make up etc, they also like to see them when they don't have anything on their face. However, I know that most men appreciate it when their girlfriend wants to look pretty for them. Maybe when you live in the same house everything changes but in my case, I still want to look neat and stylish every time I meet with him!

Well as a boy I would like to answer your question and from the boy's view.Yes boys will be attracted by girl's appearance but if a boy fall in love with a girl then it not just for the appearance at all,the other elements will take up a large of proportion such as the character. So I think you just be yourself,be your nature,if your boyfriend will not in love with you just because you have something changed in your appearance then I think this kind of boyfriend do not deserve you to keep a relationship.

I was waiting for a guy's opinion on this! Thanks for participating! :) The first impression depends on the appearance but then the character matters more, that's true! However, I wouldn't like to let myself go because I am in a relatioship, love exists but there are some things that need planning from a girl's side but it doesn't come out to her bf as something pre-planned that needs some effort, like waxing, or making our hair and nails look pretty! I think it has to do with confidence, I know that my bf will love me if I gain a few pounds for example, but I will feel more confident about myself if I keep fit!

I do think that a woman needs to be in your way of being perfect in the eyes of their partner. It is a way of feeling beautiful, do you agree? I hope your boyfriend is not perfectionist.

I am not in that long relationship with my partner yet. But there are times that I got to comfortable with him around that sometimes, I no longer care how I look when with him. But I think that is a good practise. I think I would try doing that from now on. I just don't want him to see me fixing myself because he will surely tease me.

Hi! I don't want him to see me when I am getting ready either! But I usually do some simple things before we meet. I like makingcmy hair pretty and I put some nice smelling body lotion, soetimes I even put a light make up and perfume. I have my legs waxed when even during the winter because we live close and we meet very often. It is good to look nice and confident in your relationship! Thanks for yourvcomment!
