Yes, our country knows the story behind Virgin Mary, well I'm assuming most Americans do. I was unaware Mexico had a holiday celebrating the Virgin Mary. Do they have parades? I would love to hear and see more about it. It sounds like it would be a nice family day.

Yes many parades here today.. and last night at midnight. Many crawl to the churches to see the virgin mary light up.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Mary, happy birthday to you!!
I`ve been hearing artificial fire lights since it was 12:00 am, and my daughter tuned the mass at the basilic.
We use to sing to my mother at 12 am, at her door, but we are at Guanajuato and she is at DF, but we phoned her.
Blessings mariaperalata... dainy

I was raised a Catholic, so I am familiar with the importance of the Virgin Mary in the religious calender.
Our country is amore secular country these days, so this kind of celebration is long forgotten

Our country, the Republic of the Philippines, is known to be the top Christian country in Asia so basically almost all, if not entirely all citizens here must know or have an idea who mother Mary is, even those that do not practice Christianity. It is nice that your country celebrates this. Here we also have "fiesta", which we believe is of Spanish origin because we were under Spanish rule for more than 3 centuries, and I think Mexico has the same tradition too. Anyway, it is nice to know that such tradition still continue because it shows just how much we still believe and love Mother Mary.
