Does the holiday season bring you to your sentimental side?

Its just a few more days and its already Christmas time, so far, have you started reflecting back as to how your life was the past year, or months and days? Does the holiday season bring you to your sentimental side? Or does the holiday seem like any other given day - and its just basically normal and you do not get bothered by the holiday spirit at all? If it brings out your sentimental side, have you been thinking about what the year was, and how to make a difference in your days going forward? If it does not bring you to rethink, then how do you cope up with everybody on holiday mode, and is always on their toes up until the holiday is done and over with?

For me, it has nothing to do with the holiday season just the fact that the year is again coming to an end that makes me a bit sentimental sometimes. I do look back, reflect, and evaluate my life and it does make me feel sad sometimes after realizing just how little I was able to achieve, perhaps even considerably nothing at all. I tend to put these thoughts and feelings aside so as not to mess up with my Christmas spirit and view of positivity in life, but sometimes it cannot be helped. As for now, I just hope and pray that the remaining days of this year will bring us all good tidings, wonderful blessings, and perhaps everything we wish if not deserve. Happy holidays to you!

Ah yeah, that is also a valid reason, to be feeling sentimental.. because another year is going to end and a new one is to come. Of course that is a valid reason to be in the mood to rethink, to think, and to plan what we want our lives to be.

It gives me sad memories due to calamities that strike our country for 3 consecutive years already. So many lives are wasted. The last storm claim thousand of lives and many are still missing. How could we ever forget those tragedies...it happens when holiday season comes near.

So sorry to hear about what has happened in the past in your area. It has been like the same in our country as well, strong typhoons has been coming during november and early december in the southern part of the country and a lot has been affected and lost lives and lost their homes too. I pray that the next years to come will be better.

Hello chiyosan, Before it did and when I had a job. In the past i always tried to make a good start in going to the mass and completing simbang gabi or night masses, but it seemed in the end, i feel like being hypocritical to the things i go to the church and implementing in real life.. sometimes it's really good listening to the songs and priest sermons but after a while, you go back to the same old imperfect self. i stop going to church and making new gifts, it's like the same day for me now.

Hi there letran! i have to admit that i have also suffered from the same old stuffs going in on around. I had promised myself to do something this year and i almost did not finish it... believe it or not.. i have got it going really well and then i stopped... oh boy i sure was happy that everything turned our well and i was able to finish it. so i know that it only takes my own self that is keeping me from being what i want to be... so with the coming year, no promises, but i know that i will just try to be better - in every aspects... better daughter, a better sister, a better friend, a better girlfriend... :D i am sure you want something too.. you sure have lost that drive now.. but you will find it again.. we never lose that in us. ;) best wishes to you!

I see, yes yes it is true that this kind of time makes us really want to stop and think about what our life has been, how it is, what we are to do, plan ahead and so on... i guess the festive mood brings people to their own side where most do not know. =)

As a child, I have always love Christmas. That is the time of the year whereby I get presents and get to watch plenty of cartoons on the television. Those cartoons always had a feel good factor and festive spirit in it. And when I grew up, I have always miss and yearn for it.

As a child, i do love Christmas time too. It is really the time where we do not have classes, and this is the time we get to go out a lot during those years... We would be going to both our parent's relative side and then bring home a lot of gifts that we would be opening. This is also the time where i feel our home is really in festive mood... we used to live just in one compound with our family business and almost everyday it was like work work work for my parents and so Christmas is the time where we get to spend a lot of time together... =)

For me the holiday season is also when I'm on break from school and I go to school far away from my hometown so I don't get to see my friends from home except during the summer and holiday season. As a result, the holiday season really does make me sentimental and reflective. I get to take a break from school and look back at the last quarter and I also get to see my friends I grew up with and catch up with them. Also, since it is the split between fall quarter and winter quarter at school I get to figure out how I can improve during winter quarter. I guess for me the holiday season is sentimental not because of the holidays but just because it's when I get to step back and take a break and be home for a little bit.

You are right, perhaps we are given so much time to think about what our life has been because of the time.. Also when you get to be with your friends, and family and relatives... you then were given the chance to sort of "unlease" what they were feeling when they have seen their families they haven't seen for a long time.

Wow chiyosan, there are so many questions available in the content Seems that you are really sentimental as the great holiday season is approaching. I don't bother much about holiday. I'm now busy doing house cleaning and tidying. This usually would be done by the end of year annually lol...for I have long holiday. I'm looking forward to waiting my son, nephews and nieces to back to hometown and having our family gathering and celebrate the festival at the same time Happy posting

I am sentimental, in my own rights. i always try to not live in the past and always look ahead. however with holidays like Christmas andd new year and that every one is celebrating and is into the idea, i somehow tend to be on their side and be thinking about how the year was, what i did wrong, what i could have done, what i must do next and so on. hehe :D but sure as the day comes, i am excited as to how we are going to celebrate, though!! thanks ikbooi for your response.

Yes it does at times. It makes me think of all the things that I have gone the whole year till then. It makes me think of the people that are no longer with me. This year I will surely miss my grandma. She passed away 2 weeks ago and it happened so quickly that it makes it hard for me to believe that she is gone for good. I miss her so very much and want to see her once more.

Long time ago I stopped celebrating Xmas. To me is doesn't mean anything. The only thing I know it's repeating year after year after year. Always the same things over and over again. SO boring!!! Also I don't believe in a scheduled time to do some reflecting. It's something I do even daily! Fortunately mot of my friends feel the same.

In my family we don't actually celebrate Christmas for religion it's just bringing the family back together, we eat,we sing,we laugh and catch up. It's just having a good time with my family that's all

I can understand. And when people enjoy it I'm happy for them. 2 years ago we had the family of my housemate over. 42 in total!! For 5 days they stayed. It took me days to clean up everything, and finding back several items. No. I don't blame them but it was NO fun for me. Also we have always a lot of visitors from nov. untill march. And I like my freedom so much!! So no......these are defenitely not my best months hahahahaha. But within 2 weeks I'm going to visit friends for a few days so I hope I can relax a bit too. YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I have been used to celebrating Christmas, and well i do know that this is really about celebrating the birth of Christ. I grew up in a country that is catholic, with christian faith... and thus, the reason why i do celebrate this year and it kind of excites me about what this holiday brings into my feelings. So sorry that you feel bored about this celebration franseman.

Nope. Holiday season makes most of the people feel excited, happy and agitated. why? because, most of us, especially kids will enjoy roming around everywhere - to malls, go to swimming, playgrounds, etc., because they are at rest on their school and they really enjoy it.
