I have so many ideas and actually I have already an idea on what I want my first book to be about. Its just a story from personal experience of something I am going through in my life right now. So I am going to make it a goal to write my first book by the end of next year and have it self published. I've always said I wanted to write a book and I will get to writing it, but never started it. But that is going to be my goal to write a book finally and stop putting it off. I have already written one page tonight and I think that I will write more and just keep up with it. Don't toss it until I am finished, no matter how crappy it sounds and when I am done, revise it then and get it self published.
Has anyone on here ever self published a book or written a book. What did you do to keep at it and finish. Please share.

I am currently about to finish my first book--on being a free lance writer, actually. I am also working on another e-book on the writing industry, and one day I hope to write a more personal book. I stay motivated by writing something in my books, each of them, daily--whether I feel like it or not, just as I work daily, whether I feel like it or not. I have a lot of information on self publishing, and I can direct you to some of the better sites for self publishing e-books or printed books, if you wish-- feel free to PM me here :-).
Self publishing in an e-book format first is the best way to go--with the software around you can put your book out in multiple formats, very cheaply of even free in cases, and get an ISBN number so you can sell it through Amazon or Barnes and Noble as well. Then if it starts selling well, you can interest a physical book publisher--many of the e-book publishers also do print books. I am never short of book ideas--just short of time to write them

That is really good that you are about to finish your first book. While I am about to start my first book. I will definitely use these pointers that you have given to me. What I want to at least do, write on my book a little a day until I am finished. And basically I have a whole year to finish it. Anyways, I sent you a friend request and then I would love to hear about some of those websites that you know about. Thanks.

I'll get some information together for you, trisha, and send it along in the next few days. Self publishing is definitely the way to start out, and your book may come along faster than you think!

Hi trisha!
I am in love with writing Chinese Novel. I would also love to finish my very first novel and publish it for people to buy and read it by a book. But it is hard to get it to publish unless you can contact to a publisher and give them what you have wrote in your very first book. If you do not know any publisher, the only thing you can do is just publish it to some well-known books website and publish there.
I think, if people think that your book is worth reading and think that your worth a try to let you be a writer and publish your book to the world, you might even get a contract from those publisher!
I do write my own Chinese Novel. But I stopped for now. I think for me, if I want to keep myself at it and finish it, I will be writing the story for the whole day and night. You know, ideas will come randomly once you start to write. So, if I want to keep at it and finish, I need to be in a situation where I will not be disturb or care of other things like chatting with my friends and so on?
Once I chatted with my friends, my idea will eventually went off. That is why now I have stopped writing the story. If I really want to continue, I will need to reread what I had already written down, then think of the idea to continue the story again. Then it will be another whole day long that I'm going to write the story with the idea that keep come into my mind.
Probably you have the same problem with me as well? Then I will suggest you to try finish your book in maybe 1 week with no other disturbance from other people or other things. Then you will definitely finish it as you want!
Anyway, if you did finish and publish it, please do share in MyLot! I would love to have a look at your book which contain your experience! Good luck!

I have heard that it is easier if you self publish it, that is why I'd like to try self publishing my book first and see how it goes and if it goes well, then maybe I can look for a publisher. Once I finish and publish my book I will post it on here so everyone can know about it and go and purchase it and read it. I am planning on making my first book as a novel. I love writing stories and I think that will mainly be the majority of my books and also I like giving advice so I may write a few self help books as well. I'll keep everyone posted.

Yep. Self publish on website is an easier way to let people read at your books and get well-known on the web first. I did so too. But, the site I post require 30000 words then they will be publishing it on their website. But since I put it as ongoing series's novel, that is why, my novel haven't gotten to be able to publish yet. And now, I didn't have the feeling to continue it either. That was bad. Alright, I would love to look at your first novel book! I'm looking forward to it! :D

Having a goal is the first step and then it is just a matter of carrying it out and then soon your book will be published! It does happen and I myself published my first ebook and I'm now thinking of having a second one, but maybe this one will be fiction instead of a memoir.

I@m glad you have the enthusiasm to write a book. i am an aspiring writer as well and dream of publishing a book one day. I'm still on chapter one but I'm getting there. Good luck to you. Just keep dreaming and follow your passion. You should set a time to write your book and go out a lot to find inspiration from the things that are happening in your everyday life.

That is a good goal for next year. I hope you'll finish the book and get it published and sell it on ebay or Amazon.
I used to want to be an author but then I discover that I'm not that good with descriptive writing or narrative for that matter. I'm more of a factual person so I write very matter-of-factly and I just cannot tell a story. I'm just too straight forward.
I'm more of a non-fiction writer and I can only write short articles and have no patience to write a book even if it's non-fiction.

This is really good. Many have their idea and some about writing their book. Only few are able to accomplish it. Go for it. All the best.I don't have any plans as of now.
