My dog bit me!

Last night after we got back home from having a nice dinner, our dog Bantay came under the car. He cried and screamed so I jumped out of the car. He was crawling from under the car and then was attacked by his friend, our other dog Wizard. I really had to kick Wizard away cause he wouldn't let go. Finally he did and I went to have a closer look at Bantay. When I wanted to comfort him he bit me. Hard! The whole night I couldn't sleep from pain. At some point I found myself crying like a small child. This morning we went to the hospital and I got my anti Rabies + Tetanus shots and a pain killer. Still can feel it a bit but not close to the pain from last night! I really can't blame Bantay since he was very much in stress. I should have been more carefull. But well, that's me: immediately willing to help. So fellow MyLotters: if ever your dog gets hurt and as much as you wish to help it: please be carefull! Happy MyLotting

That's why I do not want to have a dog in our house because it sometimes betrays its master.Rabies can be pretty dangerous. My godsister's younger sister was bitten by a neighbor's dog a few days after, even though she had anti-rabies shots, she unbelievably behaved like a dog.I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her licking the plate like a dog does. She eventually die two days after the dog was served as "pulutan" by the bystanders.

I'm sure he wasn't 'betraying'. He was in stress after the car accident followed by being attacked. We people should know better and not approach it immediately but let calm down a bit. And then from a distance talk in a sweet way so it will relax and know that you're not going to harm it.

I guess, it just mean that every animal whether tamed or not, they would fight back if they sense that they are being threatened. Don't get me wrong, I know what you have in mind at that moment. You just want to know if your Bantay is alright and you just want to comfort him, but he thought it otherwise. I just hope you have completely recovered from that incident.

Yes, at first you would not feel the pain because it gets numbed the minute after it happened. It will be felt later and that's the painful part. Yeah, uploading a picture had it's credits too.

Thank you. The point is that you get toxinated slightly when a dog bites. That's what causes the terrible pain. But we're both recovering. Wanted to upload a picture here but I can't . Guess I need to have more points for that hehehe

Wow! That must have scared you both when your dog bit you. I had a dog nip at me once and then I was fearful of her after that. I have a dog right now and I hope that she never bites me. We had another dog once and he nipped at my daughters face and we actually got rid of him. It wasnt a fearful bite on his end he was annoyed and nipped out at her so we decided that it was no longer okay to keep him.

I agree, that is aggressive behavior and they dont understand their place in the chain of commands. I am the alpha here over my dog that we have. And she really knows her place. ( I adore her, just sounds so harsh) but she is a pitbull, so I had to be sure that she was going to be well trained being in our home with our kiddos and the cats. And she is really. She is very very docile and would not nip at any of my kids because she is annoyed with them.

Yes you're right. If the dog is not in danger or threatened it shouldn't attempt to bite.

hi franseman wow that must have really hurt a lot. I am glad you got to the hospital. Yes one's pet can love you like crazy b ut when they are hurt or really scared then they are not thinking but just physically re acting so you or any one else has to be careful. their only weapons seem to be teeth and paws so they can bite. ouch.

Is the dog okay? I don't have dogs. I was bit as a child and can no longer trust them. But I have cats. One time a cat had a lump on it's side and it started bleeding. I put a paper towel to the lump the stop the bleeding, and the cat bit me. I realize he only bit me because it hurt when I touched him. Needless to say I did bring him to the vet for the wound, turned out he'd been in a fight with some other animal that caused the wound, possibly a possum or raccoon or something.

Dog and yours truly are both ok now ;) Yes, animals don't understand we want to help them. They're wounded so easy prey. That's why they bite. They need to protect themselves. It's their instinct. Not because they want to hurt us!!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand how much painful it must be for u and for the dog also. i think animals cannot express their feelings and emotions like human beings and hence when it saw u that day it could not control its feelings and bit u by mistake. I am sure it had no ill intentions of hurting u. May be we all should be extra careful and watchful when we are with the pet animals and should see it to that they do not have to go through such intense situations. What say?

So sorry you are in pain and got bit. My son got bit once by one of our dogs when he was trying to break up a fight between our 2 dogs. They couldn't give him stitches because the wound had to remain open to keep clean. Dogs get stressed and territorial at times and you want to help but sometimes get hurt in the process. I hope you get better soon!

Dogs like us have feelings and I would always give my dog some space of his own when he is stressed from being bullied by other dogs. So my rule is that I will never reach for him until he heeds my call and draws near me. I hope that your dog is alright and that he had been checked by your vet for any rabies or possible infections from the other dog. Since, there was no mention about his condition from the fight. At the same time, I wish you a speedy recovery and wish you happy holidays ahead.

Both dogs had their anti Rabies shots just 2 months ago so the vet said that's ok. His hind leg lacks a small piece of skin but he'll be ok. Already walks almost normally again!

Sorry to hear that your dog bit you. My friend got bitten by her own dog several times. Maybe because the dog did not recognize her in the dark and thought that my friend is a thief. Since the dog was posted at her shop as a guard. Can't blame the dog either, the dog is only doing his duty -lols.

It is good thing that you vaccine. Sometimes dogs are unpredictable. You just need to look after the dog if there is any changes.

Thank you but no worries. Normally it's a sweety pie. As I said, it was in stress so I can't blame it
