I've been a member of experts column for almost a year and I have been submitting articles from time to time. Although I admit that I am not as active as the others for the reason that I don't understand much of what I am doing. I write what I want to write, that is my own belief. But somehow, I have a feeling that I am not doing the right thing. Something is missing along the way. I used to check my traffic stats and would only find views from the site itself and unknown sources. I presumed that those were the shares that I made with facebook and twitter. Because of this, I became disappointed causing me to be inactive for some time.
But one article give me some clear idea of what I am doing. This was about the article about the Misa de Gallo which I have written after the first day mass last December 16, Sunday. I wrote the article, just a simple one, just enough to comply with the requirements. I shared it and also my other articles. Then I have my lunch and worked for my other sites.
When I came back, I checked my stats and was surprised for the big change! This particular article got a lot of views while the others did not. I checked the sites and the keywords used. I remember that this particular topic is a very up-to-date topic and people are really searching information about it.
That's it! I think I hit the right thing. Why I never thought of this before? Now, I have a better understanding of what I should write about. I should write what the people should know and want to know.
I am very happy for this new learning that I made from my online activities.
Do you have any other tips with regards to writing? I would appreciate every additional information that you may share.
Have a nice day!

I am also writing there and earning is just secondary to me.
I submit/published anything but mostly a personal thoughts.
Just like mylot, EC becomes my second home where I can express my emotions free and share my innermost feeling.

The difference though is that you have a lot of articles already. I will devote more time for experts from now on.
By the way, please tell me what sites do you promote your articles aside from facebook and twitter?
Thank you for sharing!

How's your experience with SU, Jaiho? I have been active there only for a month or so. I put links from my Bollywood blog and some from EC as well. I do notice around 15-20 instant views. The views are there even before I refresh the page. But the sad thing is that it stops there. There are no more views to it again. By the way, I am following only about 10-12 people there. Will following more people mean something really good? I have tried searching people there by their username and I didn't find the ones I was looking for. Is there any other way of finding the users there? Are you there as well?

There are many writers around like you ARIES. There are people who write only what they believe in. It does not matter to them if it is a trending topic or not. They write just what makes them feel comfortable or what they are good at. The thought that something is not going right, as you said is very likely to touch the mind at some point of time. See, that is why you have written such a big description in your question, that is fit to be a descriptive answer in fact.
I guess, it is less than an art and more of giving the people what they want these days. The reason is simple. There are so many tools available out there that will give you an idea of people are reading, so that's what basically they are looking for. And the way you got that pleasant surprise. I guess now you know what to do

Because of that experience, I think I can be able to say that I am improving in this field, he he. It's fun to know that I am learning new things everyday. Working online really has a lot of surprises. I will never learn these things if I didn't try to think out of the box. I just had this feeling before that this is what I really like.

I am not a writer but I just visited the site and liked the articles written. I read your article and found it pretty good. I see my Latino neighbors celebrate Christmas for a long time too. Their Christmas light are up until February. I was wondering why they did that. Very interesting article.
I also like food from you country especially the pastries, the there was this purple cake I once tried.

I believe that lots of people go back to their beliefs and look for support in this. For a while people had no interest in religion but now they are going back and I think that's wonderful. Faith gives us so much to learn and hope for. We are looking to connect to our source and look for others that are doind the same thing. Good for you that you could find what makes people read your articles. means you do a great job, so keep at doing it!

I think it's just the timing. I have written that article on the first day of the midnight mass. That is why people might be researching anything in relation to that.
Thank you for sharing! Happy New Year!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, i am glad that u were able to recognize the fault that was present in your case. Of course there was no fault in your writing but the trend has changed in such a way that one has to work keeping the present tastes and preferences of the people in mind.
If u deviate from such things then your work will be heavily affected. Anyways i would like to say that keep your work updated and advertize it on social networking sites and invite your friends to have a look on it and keep it short precise and eye catchy.
What say?
