I'm so excited! I'm officially an aunt! Those of you on my friend list probably remember me talking about the foster child my sister and BIL took in about 8 months ago. The adoption became final today! Do any of you have an experience with adoption? I'd like to hear more good stories. Her given name is Amyra, but when she legally became theirs they renamed her Carolea Amyra (Carol is my BIL's mom's name and Lea is from our mother's name, Leanne). But even though they changed her first name, they still plan to continue to call her Amyra. They don't want to confuse her. I hope everyone will take a glance at the picture I've included. It was taken today before they left for the courthouse. Oh, and she's about 18 months now.

Congrats Aunt Ambie!!!!!!! You know, I had forgotten about this and I am so glad you updated us on the process that you are now an AUNT!!! 18 months old, those are fun times, they are old enough to keep you on your toes and can be so funny, but still still too young to talk back...LOL Have fun being an Aunt..:)

Congratulations!! I don't have much experience with adoption, but I remember how excited I was when I first became an aunt! What a cute picture of your niece - I love her little outfit! She looks so happy, and she's at such a fun age right now.

yes, it was. it cost about $10,000 each because you have to pay fees and air fair as well as they had to stay in China for two weeks with each baby because of the documentation that had to be done. they got the baby on something like the second day but i imagine there was a lot of paperwork involved which is why they had to stay that long.

We are just going to love and spoil her. She still has some health issues. But recently one of them was fixed. She had a heart procedure for a hole in her heart and now she is all better and has way more energy. She was premature, which is why she had the hole in her heart.

What a beautiful blessing, and at Christmas time, this gift of a child will be truly treasured making the season even more beautiful.
Adoption is a beautiful life event for both the child and the parents adopting the child. My congratulations to the family

It is so heart warming to hear of a foster child being adopted. She is a lucky little girl to become part of such a loving family. I loved her photo, she is an irresistable child, so happy. You are all going to have the best Christmas this year. Congrats.

So nice of you very selfless , sharing and caring life. What a very admirable trait you got. It always comes to my mind asking why some people love to adopt dogs and why not human being ? Although dogs are also cute and needs love but i guess human being must be the top priority. By the way the baby got a very beautiful name. Take care and nurture well the baby like your real .

Oh this is so wonderful!!! My friend is part of a team who gives counselling to moms who consider abortion. Many times the mom's change their minds from abortion to adoption. It's so wonderful when they have a change of heart/mind! When their babies are born and the adoption papers etc still needs to be put into place (which can take a long time), my friend (we have about 10 kangaroo-moms)will be 'kangaroo-mom' until the baby is send to their new parents. We get used to the babies and love them so much... and we're happy when we find suitable parents, but parting with the babies are also so very sad. Enjoy 'aunthood'!!

Adoption is a long process. It took me years to get birth certs for my two adopted daughters. The problem was I didn't want them to know that they were adopted and having that word 'adopted' stamped behind their birth certs. The registration department here is not that efficient so I declared the two girls as my biological daughters out of wedlock. I thought this would ease the process of getting their papers but no I have to face the gruesome task of being interviewed by a court magistrate together with my witness. I did not know how I managed to convinced the learned man but he did approve and i finally got my daughters legal papers. My daughters are now 18 and 15 years old respectively.
Congratulations to your sister and BIL and to you on being upgraded as an Auntie.

I can feel how much excited you really are and I am sure that when Amyra grows up, she will let you know how much she appreciated all of you for wanting her to be part of your lives.
