I think that, if a job involves writing and communicating in writing, then it would be very relevant to offer your participation in MyLot as evidence of your ability. You would simply include (under "Communication Skills") something like: "Member of online general discussion community for 5 years. Please see my profile for examples - http://www.mylot.com/cobalt20 " or something similar. Of course, you would have to be happy that nothing you had posted here might compromise you!

Owlwings is right. You can put myLot in your resume if you think it is relevant in the job that you are applying.
Right you are too that putting myLot in your resume is something to talk about with your interviewer. In wish you the best. Tell us about how the interview went. ;)

Sorry but there’s no colleration between your writing skills and voice skills. The job you’re applying to requires oral communication and not a written one. Even if you include in a special skills category, participation in discussion boards or forums is seen as pastime leisure, not a job. They can see that you have a network but that’s it –it’s just like having a Facebook account which amounts to being as something ordinary nowadays.

Sorry, misunderstood your post. But my point will still stand in some respects. Perhaps,if you posts can be deemed high quality by the company, you can put it in there. But you also have to be very precise in terms of your writing skills.

What is a non-voice operator? Just wondering, I have never heard of that. I am thinking you should not put MyLot on your resume. Put something like - customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, problem solving skills....Employers like to hear that kind of stuff. Best of luck to you!

I'm sure this will raise the interest of the person who will be reading your resume. First of all they will be interested in knowing myLot. You might be able to get additional referrals from that. That is resume and you can put anything which you think necessary for the job that you are applying for.
BTW Why do you need to apply for a new job?

I really don't think it would be a good idea. The purpose of a resume is to impress your potential employer and to get yourself an interiew. You want to wow them. They will spend all of 20-30 seconds looking at your resume. Everything you put on your resume should impress them to the point that you stand out from the competition and that they feel they absolutely can't wait to meet you. MyLot has some features that sets it apart from other sites, but in the end, it's little more than a social site. MyLot goes out of their way to say the use of proper English isn't important here. They tell us we can't criticize someone's English. They don't monitor our English. All they really care about is that we do use the English language. Posting on MyLot says nothing for our writing ability. If, and only if, you can get a written recommendation from MyLot saying something to the effect that all posts use outstanding English, or something else that would relate directly to your post, you should use this experience. Then include a statement that you have a recommendation. If you absolutely feel you need to include this experience, make sure it's far away from actual experience. Make sure it's very clearly labeled as something like Interests or Activities.

Anything you can do to enhance your resume would be beneficial in the long run, and if it was me, yes I would add my writing skills to Mylot, having good writing skills is important, no matter what the position is that you are applying for. I am fortunate in that I can touch type as well and that always goes down well. Mylot is also an interest a hobby which you can elaborate on too. So you have been filling up your spare time with your writing skills talent.

I am not sure that putting the writing skills from a networking site or a discussion forum is a good idea. If you want you can mention it briefly in the interview if you want to demonstrate any instance of good communication. But personally I would think it is a bad idea to put it in the resume.
Cheers!

Haha this is the first time I heard that someone willing to put mylot writing skills in resume, but the skill is vague so may be put your work experience in your resume will be more practical. But if you really learn some skills and get some certificates then you can put in your resume and that will be much better.
Good luck and have a nice day!

I don't know.. maybe not, because no one is assessing the skills we are gaining here or our performance. the employer would not know where to ask for references and there is no validity that you were the one who wrote the particular article. Maybe not... and besides the writing is very much different from speaking skills. In writing you can edit and erase and there are this checker that can help us with the corrections, speaking, what ever you have uttered it will be totally can not be taken back.

I do not think we should be.. or that it is not honored as much as it shouldn't be as impressive as the regular or professional writing sites that pays you per article. the thing is, in mylot... they maybe you should opt to try and see other experiences you have in writing and put that in your resume.

I think it's relevant since you are applying for a non-voice job.
Back up accounts needs people who can write with proper sentences (grammar specifically)
So, I think you may include mylot as a forum/discussion site and elaborate if asked during the interview process.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well of course yes u can add it to your resume and i am sure it will increase your weightage and will give u a slight advantage over other candidates. I have heard that many aspirants add the links of their blogs or the writing websites where they are active involved so that the recruiters can verify and gauge their skills and abilities. Now u can add the link of your profile and i am sure that will go in favor of u.
What say?
