In a certain state, being bigamy is an unlawful actions. It is not allowed to get married twice or more. In my country, they will have corresponding criminal case against them. Is it morally accepted to be married of more than once and live together with the other wives?

Bigamy is a crime everywhere in the United States, as far as I know. I don't see how it is possible to get a marriage license when a person is already legally married.
There is a lifestyle where people of a certain sect of Mormonism where the man legally marries one wife and has an unlawful ceremony to marry other wives. They aren't legally married, but they say they are spiritually married. To my understanding, a man that has sister wives can't give all of himself to all if his wives. They all get whatever time with him that he can give. I doubt if this man would want his wives to have other husbands living with them.

Yes it does seem like a double standard to me. That guy on Sister Wives said he embraces the lifestyle but if his wives were to get 'brother husbands' he was disgusted by that. That certainly is a double standard if it is only good for him and not for the wives. I would not want to share my husband with 3 other 'wives'. Or even one other.

Funny that you should mention that PointlessQuestions, about the man wouldn't want his wives to have other husbands living with them. When I first read this discussion, I thought yes, I've heard of men having several "wives", but why don't you hear about women having several "husbands?" I know why I've never heard of it, one man is enough for me , but it seems a double standard to me.

I think that if the men can have wives then the women should be able to have husbands. What good for the gander is good for the goose. So if that works for the men it should also work for the women!

It is so stupid. If it is good for one it is good for the other.

I know in some countries they have many many wives! A whole harem of them in fact, and it's accepted, and the amount of wives you have makes you more important and powerful? I personally think one is enough, imagine going out and buying all those special presents for your wives birthdays and Christmas's and Anniversaries. You would have to be rich to have more than one wife!

Some people here in the USA might live with more than one person at a time and consider them all to be spouses, but our government only recognizes one wife or husband at a time.

in a church marriage you can only have one wife but i think in the Muslim faith they allow 4 wives.in our African traditions they allow multiple wives so many that there was a man in my country with over 50wives until the entire town was full of his family,he even had to build a school to fit his own children,in the African culture some see it as prestige and wealth to have a large family.

A husband is a one who loves and care his wife and his children. If a person has a outgrles number of wife he cannot give them the care and love they need. More over he should be a rich to ensure the things needed for the family and it's members.

Here it will break the law if you have one more wife. If you really want to get married with another when you are married, then at least you should divorce at first. It is not fair if it is allowed for man to marry more than one wife. I don't think the family will be in peace since the wives can be jealous to each other. Sometimes men are already feel frustrated when they are married. I wonder how can they handle more wives at the same time?

It depends on religion, beliefs, and traditions of a certain person. If it is in their tradition or religion to morally marry two or more wives, then it is not unlawful.

After the Cultural Revolution, the country does not allow the feudal practice of taking concubines. Other than the legally married wife, the man is not allowed to take other women to be his concubines. So like your country, bigamy or polygamy is disallowed and illegal.
However, I understand that the Muslims under their Syria Law are allowed to take up to 4 wives and even when their countries' laws does not permit it. I suppose Muslims are exclusive with their own Syriah Law as far as marital issues are concerned. Does your country have Muslims? Are they exempted from your country's matrimonial laws?

It is illegal to have more then one wife. It was outlawed in the 1890's in the USA. Fundalmentalist Mormans do multple wives and they get away with it. Mostly because they live in their own towns and compounds and have little contact with the outside world.. Then there is the guy on the tlc show called "Sister Wives" who has 5 wives. He is Morman and ended up moving to Nevada, with all the wives and kids, to aviod being charged with having more then one wife.
In Africa most countries let men have more then one wife if they want to have more. Some Arab countries allow Muslims to have more then one wife. usually they have more then one wife because they wanted to have alot of kids.
I don't like the idea of a man having more then one wife. I think it is selfishness and insensitive on the man's part. I know multiple wives have isses with it even if they don't make it know. I would not want to share my husband! No way in heck I would! That is crazy!

Muslim men are allowed to have as many wives as they want provided that they can be able to support each and every family it bears.
I am a Catholic, and the Church only allows one union of man and woman all through their lives. I would like to stick to that "rule". But some would end up filing for a divorce and find themselves new partners all over again. I am not condemning them for doing such. It is their choice and I think that they have the right to find the person that they will be most happy to be with.

I believe marriage is an institution created by God and according to his directions one man and one woman makes a marriage. When people start fooling around with God's proper order of things I think it will cause problems, so I say morally bigamy isn't acceptable. In the USA it is against the law and I think that is the right way to do things.

I truly believe that if you really love somebody one wife is more than enough. I have been married for 26 years with the same guy ,and we are both very happy together. Is just a matter of finding your soul mate. I feel that people who engage in bigamy are always searching for something new because they still feel that they are missing something. In my opinion is not fair for the kids no matter what they say.

Probably not, because ... I don't know, maybe you have to 'take on the debt/credit of all the other partners as your own.'
But it probably shouldn't be too hard to handle if you have each wife in a different place and -you don't let them find out about each other

I don't believe in the idea of having too wives either. I believe that a man is meant for a woman and not for women... The idea of having two wives is almost like discriminating womanhood. But I couldn't argue the tradition and culture of other countries. Just respect the culture of them but never want to live it.
