My friend likes to read the ebooks online. However, one day she told me that the ebook website was very tricky. Since she was quite interested in reading a novel for few chapters. However, later she found that she had to paid for it if she wanted to read the rest I must say that this is a very clever selling because it is so painful that you can not read the rest of the book if you don't pay for it.

Indeed very cheap trick, that's why many people are being victimized because people are fond of cheap things.

I have a Kindle, and I buy my books on Amazon. They are very clear from he beginning that you can read a sample of the book(usually the first chapter) so you can see if you like it,or if You already read it,then you decide if you want to buy.Nothing sneaky about it!I heard that there are sites for borrowing, like a library, but I do not know about them.Usually if it does not clearly states that an item is free,It is not!

That's a shame. Those selling ebook websites can be so mean, haha.
I did find an absolutely free ebook online before but now they removed that section from the site. I was so sad. Maybe they were warned for free downloads of those mobile ebooks that's why they had to remove it. Argh, sometimes I hate the law. haha!
your friend should buy another book then, or look for free ebooks.

very tricky indeed. Even me would be tempted to buy a book that really captivates me. Maybe I will also be annoyed with that seller that posted that ebook and won't visit his/her page again. I hate it when I get hung up with something, it makes me feel frustrated.

That's true, but this kind of trick is the annoying kind, the seller could have been fair with the readers by sharing only the preview of the book. Some readers might be tempted to give a negative rate on the particular seller or the book.

Now that is crafty, they get you interested in a book and once they have got you embroiled in the story, most would be too curious about what happens next, and these sites rely on this and they will make money, you are right it is clever selling, albeit very crafty. I still get my books from the library

That's salesman ship, sometimes called the "come on gimmick". Actually , I don't think it's such a bad deal. Have you not started a book that sounded good on the preface, but you could never get really interested in it? Getting to read the first few chapters before buying would prevent that.

Youless, most companies are like that now. They will offered you a few nice stories to read but to complete those stories, you will need to purchase them. I ever came across a few such sites and decided to delete them whenever they request for me to make payment. I don't like site that request for me to make payment in order to complete reading them. Until now, i am still looking for site that can provide me with free reading materials.

Well such tricks can be found out in each field of the business. We people should see them in our mind act to them. Anyhow the booksellers cannot give the books free for reading they also need to earn and live but I wonder why there is need of such a trick. Why can't they sell them directly without allowing the readers to read them half. May be it is a business trick. It is we people we suffer from those tricks

The reputable sites allow people to read a few chapters before they decide to buy the book. I think that is fair enough, you can't do that in a bookshop. Writers need to earn money for the work they have put in, so why should someone read a book for free? There are books offered for free on the websites and this is plain from the beginning and there is no charge at all as this is the author's choice.
Of course, if the site she is reading from is being dishonest then that is another matter. She can read freely available books on Kindle and Amazon, where it is stated clearly that there is no charge.

well, that's how they sell books. If it is a good book, then it will not really for freebies. Maybe it is cheaper to buy the book than have it as ebook. So try to see which is cheaper.

The website should allow to read at least one complete book for free. If you want to read more, you should pay. Asking for money in the middle of the book is a very commercial trick. Allowing to read one book at least will enhance the goodwill of the website as well.

This type of 'carrot and the stick' offer has been going on for years now. They call it free download and let you download the entire software at the end of it you are asked to pay, or it gets converted to 'trial' offer. It is indeed frustrating to go through this experience and I do not think there is a single person who has not been trapped this way. Nothing is free and even if it is they can vanish from the scene or even withdraw that offer anytime.

Oh, sorry to hear that youless, your friend must be sad. But, we left no choice about that, that site also is having a business and in business they will apply the best strategy that they can have just to have a customer. I think looking into positive side, that site is good for it allows the customer to read and have some background regarding the book, at least you can decide whether you're going to buy it or not.

I feel sorry for your friend. That is very common these days. I just wonder why do people offering services on the web have to cheat their clients. If their service is very satisfactory then they don't need to do some tricks because for sure their clients will some back because they have already proved their service. Unscrupulous elements!

I always suffer it.You know,if I can't read the rest, even I can't sleep well. This is so painful. So,I will see if this ebook needs money to read all of it ,then I will choose read it or not. I can avoid feeling worse by this way. Maybe you can advise your friends to have a try.
