If you are a nature lover or environmentalist, you are strictly against of cutting trees. In my country, it is not common to have pine trees to be cut down as Christmas trees. They used to have the artificial one, since our mother land don't have pine trees in low land areas. Having a real pine tree will filled the house with natural smell. What do you think?

When I decide to get a real tree for Christmas, I will choose one that is balled n burlaped for planting later. No cut trees here.

I might like the smell of a fresh pine but I am not into the real pine. They are really a hassle to keep alive and to keep from spreading pine needles all over the place and then discarding it after. Just seems to trivial really and costly if you have to pay $25 or more a year for a tree it adds up over the years when a good artificial one can last years and years if taken care of properly. Also the branches on a artificial is more sturdier.

Pine trees don't grow in our area. But even if it does I think I will still choose the artificial one. A tree would be more useful if left uncut specially during the rainy season. Also using artificial tree is not expensive since you can use the same tree every year.

I'm not sure about this, but I think in America for every tree that is cut down professionally, two trees are planted; and pine trees are fast growing trees.
When I was a child, there was something special about going to the tree lot to pick out a Christmas tree. Getting an artificial tree down from the attic doesn't have that same excitement.

I love the smell of fresh pine in the home, but having an artificial tree is better for the environment and more economical. They are also easier to keep clean, I so dislike pine needles all over he floor. We can enjoy the real pine trees outside of the house and decorate them, and although the smell of the pine isn't inside the house, they are still just as beautiful.

I would love to have a real tree for Christmas, but I can't get one and set it up by myself any more, so I'm stuck with an artificial one. I love the smell of real pine.
I think of myself as a nature lover with a little green bent and I see no problem in cutting down trees when they're replaced or when a certain area needs to be thinned. Pine seedlings sprout up everywhere in some areas and not all of them make it to full growth because there isn't enough sun and room for them to grow, so why not cut them down and enjoy them?
Other places have tree farms just for cutting for Christmas. If they don't plant and tend the trees, they wouldn't grow, so getting one of those doesn't diminish anything at all.
There are many things to think about when making decisions like this.

I agree with you. In fact I think it is ideal to use the artificial tree because it can be recycled. You can use it this year and it doesn't matter for you to use it next year. And it is as beautiful as the pine tree. So I think it is alright to use the artificial Christmas tree to replace the pine tree.

Hmmm. I think it depends on people I guess. There is nothing wrong if people used artificial pine tree. Besides, having a natural tree or artificial tree is still a christmas trees that adds beauty inside our house.

I love to have real trees but because their is a bigger chance of fire we only get artificial trees. We have lots of kids and do not want to risk their lives. We burn pine scented candles instead

Although I love both artificial and real pine, I still can’t decorate my place with such decors mainly because I have a small space that I am living and it can’t accommodate or rather fit such décor in my home. So, I rather stick to the mistletoe’s or poinsettias which I can decorate in my small place.

In the 40 years that I have seen Christmas, we have only ever had one real tree, artificial ones are so much preferable, they last, they don't leave trails on pine needles everywhere and they can be used again and again. There's of course the problem of what to do with the real tree after Christmas and the environmental factor which you stated. The only up side is the smell of a real tree, and of course the expense too. Real trees are far more expensive than artificial ones.

Here in the US not a lot of people use pine trees for Christmas.
some people do, but the cedar trees are more popular for their
Christmas trees..
It all depends how long you keep the tree up in your home, but
real trees become very dangereous because they become dry if not
watered peoperly and has been known to cause fires...
I love real trees but now that I don't need a big tree I am fine
with my 4 feet table top Christmas tree.
