How important is sleep after college?

It seems as if it were just yesterday that I would get enough sleep for myself to rejuvenate fully, but now I often stay up until midnight working on my homework. My brother came home from college about a week ago and practically went on a hibernation; he says that you have to juggle your priorities, sleep being one of them.
Is sleep varying after being in college?

I cannot really say for others but I began to sleep less hours as I get near to completing my degree. It's just that I always have lot more stuff to do, lots more requirements to comply with that sometimes I would eat in front of the computer just to spare some nap time. I think I could also use some time management ability but I'm not sure if I'm really that good in it.

I felt it was necessary for me to sleep after college daily. I always felt really tiered after returning from college. So tiered that even having lunch seemed to be a real tough job. I always slept for an hour or two after college. I think it is very important to give your body and mind a break after continuous hours of studying in college. When i used to wake up after an afternoon nap the body and my mind felt relaxed and helped me in doing whatever i wanted even studying. A sleep after college is must.

I've heard it totally depends on which major you're going into. As for me, I think I'm going into either secondary education or an engineering major.. (Two ends of a spectrum I might say), and I'm curious, when you were tired, what major was it that you were taking during college? (If you can still remember.)

Having a good night sleep is essential when you are under pressure and have to meet your deadlines because it helps your mind work faster. Sometimes I was taking a nap after uni and then I was staying up during the night to study. Unfortunately my classes were 20 mins away from my apartment and I had to stay downtown for the lunch break. Only a few times when I was sick I went back home during the 2 hr break to rest and sleep for an hour in my cozy room, in order to restore some strength and go back to class!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes sleep has to be the priority after coming from work or college or school. Our body definitely needs some rest and has to recover and be recharged so that we can feel fresh to carry forward the day ahead. I think when u do not rest and continue to work or study after returning from your workplace or college then it will prove detrimental for your body and until then it would be too late to realize also.
What say?

While yes, sleep is great and removing sleep from our life would only make us more vulnerable to illness, I've heard of ways where you can make due with the same kind of efficiency with much less sleep; If I'm not mistaken you can essentially power sleep within different intervals and then work a lot better, though I've never had the time or the same kind of will power to just wake up after a brief moment of sleeping.
I can't wait to test it out in college though.
