I was just wondering how the teddy bear even came to be so famous, when the real one is actually pretty scary and can even kill people. A friend just gave me one, and looking back, when i was kid, i always thought bears were as cute and cuddly as they toy. Wouldn't that be just promoting to kids to hug those huge and dangerous bears?

I used to have three of the original ones but they got scorched in a fire. It is a cool story isn't it?

So what SuzieqMom said was correct..Thank you so much for the link to the story.. This was the first time i have ever heard of this.. How one little event became the origin of those teddy bears that we still have until now.

Yeah, they are rally cute when they become stuffed animals, there are even some tv shows about them-- " the care bears".. So it is really hard for kids to think of bears as dangerous animals, which they really are.

Oh, that i think i have watched in some nat geo or discovery channel?? i think that before they made a stuffed animal... and it was named or called teddy bear because at the time it was theodore roosevelt's time and probably the one who developed this, gave this as a gift.

Oh, that is another story.. but still elated to Theodore Roosevelt.. I just know his name though and know that he was one of the Presidents of the United States of America, i did not know that he was that famous.

I think the story goes that President Teddy Roosevelt was on a bear hunting trip and was having trouble finding any bear; his hunting pack of dogs finally came across an old, sick bear but Teddy refused to shoot him for sport. A comic strip artist drew a picture of this event, and, since President Roosevelt was very popular at the time, the idea of a stuffed bear (called a "teddy bear") was formed. And we still have them around today!

Oh, so that is why it is named "teddy". Thank you for the information.. it is quite sad to shoot a sick bear, what a nice president. But i bet if it wasn't sick at all, it would have been scary and might even attack them.

As far as I know, started with the former President of USA. Teddy came from the name of Theodore Roosevelt. He became popular when the President made a lot of good deeds.

Oh, so he was a good president then, he must be.. since a famous toy was named after him.. I don't really know much about him since i live in a country far far away from America.
