I am tired of the superhero movies that they are dishing out. Why are they remaking Spiderman?
Do you feel that the characters in movies are starting to have similar stereotypical personalities?
I rarely come across interesting characters that have unique personalities.
That's why I switch to Japanese dramas series/movies. They tend to have better female/male characters compare to Hollywood movies.

I like to wathc movies but mostly the English ones, before many german (criminal) movies. It's not only because of the characters but also the kind of language used. It's all noise, shouting, about being rude and every story is the same. I don't know if it's typicall for Hollywood movies? Might be. I also don't like the never ending soaps and drama or the talk shows (mostly going about nothing, things people in my country find normal and in the USA people behave as if it's a miracle what dr Phill, the dogwhisperer etc etc say). I assume there are not enough creative people anymore that is why they remake everything? Personally I wish the old movies (fities etc) would come back (no remake please).

@Kitty. because the powers are always concerned with revenue. Doesn't matter how creative it is but if it gonna cost a trillion dollars, they will never ever sign into it. It's just like buy and sell - one must buy low (investment, cost of production) and must sell it higher to their buyer (in this instance the audience).

If there are plenty of creative people, how come we seldom see something new? No matter what you see it's mostly a copy from.. I doubt that is to introduce young(er) people to the best sellers there once were. It's not creative to remake something old (same thing happens with music) also it's seldom a better movie. I think Hollowood is still a name, but I doubt it will last forever. Walt Disney is not that great anymore as it once was either.

But I have a feeling the reason Hollywood movies are typical because it sells. Not because of not enough creative people in the industry.

Hi Trinity,
Lucky that you understand Japanese and you've a choice but for me, Hollywood is only choice for movies, in India we have Bollywood and there are so many movies released by most of these movies are just waste, as compared to Bollywood, I find Hollywood more sensible and creative in film making, personally, I'm fan of super hero, super natural powers etc. so no matter how many times they remake the movies, possibility is, I'll like it. Didn't you like the Batman movies, those are awesome, I wish them to continue with it and don't stop making movies

I don't understand Japanese. I'm not even a Japanese. The reason I can watch them is because they have English subtitles.
Batman is a really boring/uninteresting character to me. I guess the reason Hollywood spew out superhero movies is to cater to fans like you.

I don't know why you think Batman is a boring movie, you might try watching Bollywood movies with Subtitles, you may like it as well.

I did watch one Bollywood movie. It's mostly because my uncle is an Indian and he introduce me to one Bollywood movie. It's okay but not really what I like.
Why I think the Batman movie is boring? It's a matter of taste I guess. People like me prefer thought provoking movies like Inception instead.

I went to the Blockbuster with my grandson (aged 9) to get a movie to see with him and was amazed that most of the movies for children were cartoons. I did not like that at all. It seems that there`s a gap between adult movies and movies for toddlers. Movies for children should have a plot for them, maybe young actors but real people too. When I was young, I remember nice stories with animals and children and leter on, some book based stories. I would have some for boys as most of them are too girlish.

When I was still primary school. I actually watched Extreme Ghostbusters animated and that cartoon is pretty disturbing. I actually get a bit scared when watching some of the episodes.
Most of the movies were cartoons? At least it's better than showing a movie about a teen high school life and romance that teach nothing except how to find a boyfriend/girlfriend,be a superstar,be a model and caring nothing else except looks and money.

I have to say that some movies are really well-made even if the idea or the concept is really recycled. Of course, I guess Hollywood cannot be choosy since there are now many people who like the indie movie industry. Also, these movies leave a lot of good room for interpretation and they are a good magnet for movie goers. Some people do love the heroes stuff and they pander to it. However, there are also times when the characters and the plot are so predictable that only the die-hard fans watch it.

What you said was right, holly wood movies are going in the same manner since many years, they were not showing any unique characters, all super heroes stories are excellent but their sequences are not at all appreciable I hope they will chenge their rout and find some new ways to boost their movies...

Probably they won't change their route as long as there are audience for the superhero movie sequels or other sequels. They rarely have original movies anymore. Maybe one or two but usually those movies are riddled with cliches.

There are some interesting movies such those that get mentioned during Oscar time. But generally speaking, the movies are run of the mill with the same ideas hashed around with too much violence and explicit scenes. Movie making is a money making business, not a artistic venture and it is geared for the market which enjoys violence. And the market satisfies the appetite for superficial movies that provide immediate entertainment. Fortunately the European movie scene still continue to make thought provoking movies, I might be biased here but that is my take on the movie scene.

Frankly I stopped watching movies a good while back, I would just get bored and not get to the end of the movie, so now I only watch parts of them when they are shown on tv, and they still bore me.

I believe Hollywood has run out of good unique ideas so they will recycle old ideas and claim that it's new. If they want to do that, a remake, they should at least stick closely to the original.
I hated the remake of Fright Night. The original was so much better. The remake borders on the ridiculous.

I am tired of super heroes too. When I was a kid I used to enjoy Superman comics but even Superman has moved on with a TV series containing so many super beings that it has lost all interest to me. I simply cannot keep up with it any longer.
Why do we have to have all these alien types visiting the planet and putting things to rights for us? Does it reflect the thought that we are quite incapable of doing anything about ourselves on a human level?

Hollywood seems to be coming up with movies that are not too original anymore. I keep seeing movies either about romantic comedies or just stories adapted from books or graphic novels. For the most part, I think they really need to try to think outside the box. As you mentioned before, characters in movies have similar personalities. To some extent, I do agree with you. However, I think a more appalling issue than character development is story development. I believe Hollywood movies has lost their touch with giving such great movies that become timeless classics like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. But I do not know of a solution for this dilemma. With the kind of movies being released into theaters now, it's seems Hollywood has lowered their standards and not doing enough filtering of movies with such deplorable stories.

You are right! Most hollywood movies are all about superhero stories, mostly are remakes... Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Incredible Hulk and the rest. But why is it so? It is just because of the purpose on capturing the interest of many and mostly the young generation. And of course they are making remakes for that they will be sure it will earn billion of dollars and won't flop the industry. Apparently, there comes people who wants to find some substance in the movie, people who watch because the story is interesting. I love watching movies, whatever genre it is...

I do love Hollywood Movies although they remake it or not. Hollywood is best for me. Michael Jackson's there , the superstar, the King of Pop, most widely known is there, even though he's gone :(
