My friend, you should consider what is really your main idea. It can help you have the title for your discussion. We cannot make the body of a discussion without knowing what is really the main topic. Good day!

hi I think we all have a bit different w ays of doing titles b ut I like to make a grab it title that will intrigue the users and get their attention. But I am an unpublished writer who has taken a lot of creative writing classes,Okay suppose you wish to write about a teen who has the awful habit of slamming a door when she is angry ' because you told her she could not do something. So here I would put"No Don't Slam the door" Bang bang bang.!1Now that will draw in a reader and they will read the discussion out of curiosity. One of my discussions was about tree trimmers so I had this title "Ohmy'G. He is in a cage thirty feet up" and I got quite a few responses on this as a lot of people like myself are phobic about heights.Just make the title lively and it will draw readers in.

At first it was hard and it took more time to think of a good discussion title. You will figure it out as you become more and more active in this website. When I think about discussion title, I think of myself as a reader and what kind of title would catch my attention and still very related to the contents in that discussion.

Probably It has to be straight to the point, but doesn't give everything away. In short, it has to be interesting.

Just take a few words from the topic as your title. I understand you would like to be creative. That's always good but not always possible. Maybe you should write up a few discussions and then go back and reread them a few times. It might help you to come up with something. Or take a break from mylot and read other stuff on the web. Here's a few sites that might help you out www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Good-Story-Title or you could look up jokes about whatever your topic is. Like if your topic is about cats you could search for jokes about cats and use a line from a joke. If your cat got mad and attacked you, like when you got scratched the other day, your title could be "My cat had a hissy fit". Something like that. Hope this helps. And, um, no. I never have problems coming up with discussion titles.

You can go to this site http://thesaurus.com It will give you any word you need. I use it quite often. Or you can always PM me. But that only works if I'm awake. Try this site. I'm sure it will help you. And remember, you can PM me any time. I will always try to help you out.

That site I gave you is also a dictionary. Would that help you? Maybe the only thing you can do is ask a person. Do you know anybody that speaks English well? I mean somebody off line. And I know you told me before but what is the name of your language? I forget what you said it was.

Yes, me too, but I am thinking of intriguing title to catchthe attention of the reader. Everybody does have some problems with the title. Aside from the title, I also have problems with the discussion itself.

I think we have all been there a time or two. Wanting to start a New discussion and then cannot think of a good title to put with it. We might even have to write out the discussion first and then while writing it come up with a Title, or change our title sometimes. I know I have done it, and it often only means my mind is trying to challenge itself again.

Well, you can always take a lesson from the show Two and a Half Men. That show almost always pulls episode titles from a random line of dialogue. Memorable titles include "Did You Check with the Captain of the Flying Monkeys?" and "I Can't Afford Hyenas."

You're doing it RIGHT! What you want to do: after you finish writing the description, ask a question which the reader can answer without reading the description (although we're all supposed-to read it all) and have their answer still fall in line with the discussion. For example: If this were the start of a discussion, I would then go to the subject-line & write, "Is This a Good Way to Start a Discussion?" (and, since 'yes or no'-questions are "against The Code" I'd add "Why or Why Not?")

I don't make much discussion but everytime I make one, I write the contents too before giving it a title. I think what matters is how descriptive are we to what we would like to discuss. But again, having a good title discussion is an eye catcher that will make anyone read it.

I agree with you having a good title attract a people to read our discussion. I see some member here very easy to get more than 30 response because they create creative title.

You do not have to be that creative nor that clever in Mylot. This is not an insult. But what is appreciated is just speaking from your heart. It just needs to be something sincere and then, it is often something that other people can relate to. This isn't creative writing. This is connecting to other people and just writing from your own experiences and from your own heart. Be yourself. Be sincere. That's all.

I am new to mylot so I don't know how valuable my suggestion will be but I do maintain a very successful blog outside of mylot and though for blog posts I tend to be creative and strive to be witty, I find being concise and getting to the point is helpful. You want to be direct so people know what they are getting themselves into and what the discussion is going to be about. Having a bit of creative flair probably doesn't hurt but I would say being concise and direct is key so people know whether or not they'll be interested and what the content will contain.

It does not matter whether you are new or old members here the important things if you have experience in writing will make your discussion interesting.

You're right. It doesn't matter how long someone has been a part of a website especially in terms of a general inquiry such as titling discussions.
