Shoulder ache

Every time when I use the computer for long periods of time, my shoulder starts to ache. Is there a way to minimize it? Or should I go see a doctor? I tried taking a few minute break by walking around my house but when I get back again, it still hurts.

It is most likely from the position of your mouse. I would suggest moving it to see if it helps any. I know I have to hold my arm in a higher position at times because of my desk. Best of luck. If it doesn't minimize, see a doctor.

I experience that too. I think that is because of sitting for too long. I think you should exercise, rest, and take a break in using the computer. Have a nice day!

The shoulder ache is a common problem and it can happen to anybody. Especially today we stay in the office most of the time and we just seat in front of the computer to do the paper work for a long time. In fact the best solution is to have a swimming. It is very amazing that the swimming can be very helpful to release the shoulder ache. If it is so cold now, then at least you can do the swimming movements and it is also helpful. This is how I deal with it.

if the pain comes back at the same spot it means it's already harmed/damaged since longer so a few minutes break won't help. Might be you have an infection as well. I think you should change your position sitting behind the computer. Arms lower, using something to lay your arms on (like the office/desk seats have) also reduce the time you are behind that computer!

I work from home and I got two jobs, 1 full time and 1 part time and I experience a lot of back aches, shoulder and neck pain all day long. I think it is because of improper posture and the fact that we stay in one position for too long and I think what other people are saying is right-that we need to relax and probably do some exercise for neck and shoulders every so often to ease the pain at least.

Could it be a frozen shoulder? For some people they do experience of stiffening of their shoulder joints. It can also be associate with arthritis. Happy New Year!

I also have some shoulder and arm ache from time to time, especially when I left to carry some fruits during the celebration, and from during my shopping of so many fruits in the market, that I just have some shoulder and arm aches the next few hours after I got home.I just manage to have my own self massage or I just seek the help of a massage therapist do the job to sought my aching arms and shoulder.I seldom have some ache upon using my computer, because I do not spend too much time in the internet. When that happened,I will just put some medicinal oil in my aching parts so that pain would be erased or at least minimized to the reaction of the medicinal oil.You can also put some medicinal oil in your shoulder and arm to have a soothing effect in those part of your body.

I think it's due to the shoulder/neck area being in a particular position for too long. Try sitting in a better posture, and do head/shoulder/neck exercises every 15 minutes or so to make sure that those areas have at least some form of movement and not stay stagnant for too long. I would assume taking a break after the aching starts wouldn't be of much help since the muscles around the shoulder/neck area are already strained. I guess if you've tried preventative measures and the condition persists, you are probably better off seeing a doctor and getting professional advice.
