is that even possible? Like those people they call psychopaths, are they born that way? And if they are, does that mean we cannot do anything about it? I have always thought people were born neutral, and they just become whatever they are from what they see and experience.

I am not sure but I am leaning to that belief . I think you can look at some small children and see how they act , they bully other steal and lie and so most of them are that way as adult also .

People are born with a certain character. I can tell you it's not always a great one. I would not call someone easily evil. Evil is a personal thing. But it's for sure there are already children who do break others and this has nothing to do with the way the parents raise or raised them.

I don't think so! Because there's no such thing as that in this world. Besides, I don't believe in evil. :)

hello there,
like they say criminal, bad people are not born, they fall into such situations or circumstances which makes them thing they don't want to .
And about psychopaths i guess they be around in such surrounding which changes their way of thinking and behaviour. Atleast for criminals we have the chance for changing them and turning them into good men but for psychopaths, its very difficult.
take care

I see many people have already responded touching on my points so I will just recommend a book if you are as interested in the subject as the book implies. It is by Jon Ronson who is a British journalist/author and the title of the book is 'The Psychopath Test'. It delves into sociopathy and psychopathy and whether they're made or born, it explores a point based assessment of characteristics typically attributed to psychopaths and includes interviews with labeled psychopaths and doctors. Very interesting read, he really did his research!

i think there no people born evil, people will be evil in some reasons especially in their sourroundings and the one who maker him/her grow, and the big reason is the parents if the parents make their child grow with love and a spiritual relationship it will not come to that matter.

I totally agree with your view. No one is born as good or bad. The circumstances they live in mould them into that. We simply blame the people because of their behavior but we never tried to understand what situation led them to do that. In my opinion that is really absurd.

Hi,
According to H. Thoreau, a person is born like a blank tablet. What is impressed on it from birth onwards shall always be the character of that person. Nobody is born evil, being born out of love by the parents, even those who are born out of rape. For if the mother does not love the child, she would not cause it to be born. For lack of it, it is always assumed that the newborn being is good that has the potentiality to become evil.
The novel "Lord of the Flies" by W. Golding depicts a story of human nature in a hostile environment: innocent children who were marooned in an island yet are able to survive by pure coincidence and circumstances. There, they grew to become wild uncivilized people, being subject to all kinds of inhospitable environments, lacking proper guidance and education.
Had they were rescued and brought back to civilization, it wold be a different story for them. All in all, being evil is the result of a good potential put to waste for lack of action from people who do nothing to prevent it or who are unable to do so.

Studies have proven through brain imaging that the brain of a psychopath is significantly different than that of an average person. The degree of abnormality in a certain area of the brain is significantly related to the degree of psychopathy. These results suggest that psychopaths have biological differences in the brain which may help to explain their offending behaviors. Do people really have free will? Ideally everyone should love their families, treat their friends kindly, and start new life. Their is a history of bad things for quite some time. Going back to history. Part of America was racist against blacks and part of Germany was anti-Jews.(superiorism) Israel and Palestine is fighting each other for Jerusalem and revenge. Their could be reincarnations of evil people if it is possible. It could be genetics, the fact that they were thought to believe, being abuse, or feeling depressed. Maybe the devil or some fallen angels have influences on some people.

I think it has to do with both genetics and lived experiences. However, it will vary from person to person of why they are 'evil'. Some people only lash out and become more evil from traumatic lived experiences. And others may have genetics which make them more prone to developing certain conditions. In my opinion, I think it's more about lived experiences which shapes the person they will become in the future.

According to research some are hereditary and some are caused by depressions in life or probably have brain damage. Most of the prisoners according to research have brain damage acquired during childhood years when parents blew their heads when they were angry, probably child abuse.

I think it's one of those things that is a combination. They are born with a certain pre-disposition. But that never surfaces without environmental factors. I believe if someone is born with that pre-disposition but then never experiences the environmental factors, there won't be a psychopath. And if the environmental factors occur but there isn't a pre-disposition, then again there's no psychopath. It's only when they join forces, so to speak, that a psychopath is created.
