Well......hubby has decided to quit drinking. Tonight we did a ceremonial dump of the alcohol in the house. He says that he's tired of being tired and the way his mood swings. woo hoo!!!!!!!! I'm on top of the world that he finally has come to this decision on his own. Now, I'm praying that we both have the courage and the strength to see this all the way through. Once we get the alcohol addiction is taken care of....maybe he'll see the light with the nicotine. ;) This just might be a great year after all!! :) :) :) :) :)

Angelwithkids:
I am happy for you both. It is a positive thing that he decided to quit on his own. I will keep you both in my prayers. It will indeed take a lot of strength to win this battle. Keep in mind that it will also take a lot of patience and understanding from you while he adjusts to withdrawal and especially if he should relapse. Stay strong, God will see you both through this trying time.

Thank you deedee!! I do believe that God is working on him. Now that we made some new friends that don't drink, are also helping him. I thank God for putting them in our lives.

Coming to that conclusion on his own is a very big step. I too hope that you and your family will be able to see it through. It will not be an easy journey. There are so many temptations that can lead him to drinking again. Try to keep him away from them.

That is great that he is doing so well. Continue to reward him for all that he is doing. I hope that he will be able to make it to the thirty days and then continue to do well. It is such a hard thing for so many people to break addictive habits.I'm sure you are excited about the progress that he has made. So many people talk about quiting but then they don't put forth all the effort that is needed to quit.

I have to admit, when he first said that he was going to quit, I didn't believe him. But seeing that he's actually putting in the effort to change. I can't help but applaud him. Kids and I do our part to make sure there are other drinks in the house and keeping him busy.

Well, one step at a time. Glad to hear your husband has stopped drinking. He will need all the encouragement that people can give him. And so will you. I hope you get support as you support him. My prayers to both of you - for courage and strength and a vision for a brighter and clearer future. What a great way to start the New Year!

Thank you zoejoy! We have made some new friends that don't like to drink, so they've been good about giving encouragement and support. The kids are happy as he is more involved in their daily activities.
