Yesterday on You Tube I looked for programs about the Ukraine because it is one of the countries I wish to visit later this year. I saw an interesting program about the city called Odessa. Then I came across a Globe Trekker program about the Ukraine. The presenter said where she would be traveling to on that program and I got interested. Then it said pay one pounds and ninety nice pence has to be paid to watch it. I was able to pay for it then see all of it.
Have you see countries and destinations on the Internet and TV before a trip?
Do you have any disks of travel destinations or saved travel programs?

Hi maximax,
I have been thinking of traveling in the near future. However, I am not a rice person, that is why I am thinking of traveling and working at the same time. I have been watching Filipinos abroad on T.V. It shows there the culture of a certain countries and the experiences of Overseas Filipino Workers. You are very lucky that you can travel anywhere you want too. I hope that I can travel too on all places that I wish to visit.

@maximax8 Thank you so much for those good words. I noticed that I replied on your topic last 2013. It was a long time ago.

Before a trip I often find some Youtube videos about my destination. I also did that before our trip to Asia and it was interesting to watch the videos about Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Some of those videos were tv programmes that people had uploaded on Youtube and some of them were private travel videos that people had recorded when they visited those countries.
I also got some travel videos from the library. I was able to find a video from each country and they were very interesting. When I visited those countries myself I discovered that some of the information from the videos weren't accurate, but videos weren't quite new and I think that it is reason why there were some differences. On the plane from Amsterdam to Bangkok we were also able to watch travel videos and I watched most of them. I love travel wideos...

@Porcospino Portugal is a fascinating place to visit. It was the first overseas trip that I took my son on when he was a baby. Lisbon is such a very interesting and beautiful city.

@maximax8 Yes, they have a lot of interesting videos. I like to find new ideas and inspiration that way. We plan on visiting Portugal next year. I am sure that I can find some videos about Lisbon and other places.

To persuade me to go on holiday with them, my father would show me on the television what Cyprus was like, you see I had never been on a plane before and certainly never to a foreign country, apart from France and that was a school trip and by boat. The holiday program was showing you all the sites of Cyprus, what to see and do, of course I didn't have the internet back then, so I couldn't research it on the net, I could only rely on brochures but they never give you the true picture do they? I liked what I saw on TV, and I have to say after visiting Cyprus I was very impressed.

Thanks a ton for sharing your discussion. Well that is great to hear about the travel program and i think this is a good way of knowing a particular place in advance. Generally these days one can find all the info on internet and that is making things easier for the people before traveling. I have always used internet as a powerful tool before going for any trip.
What say?

The only other country I have ever traveled to outside my own is Canada, and that was quite some time ago; plus I don't really count it because it's still in North America (I am in the US).

I've watched a few things on Netflix but I've never followed up with visiting one of those places. Most of the places I see are in foreign lands and maybe someday I'll visit there but for now its nice to see the highlights of a different country. I would like to visit some of the other islands of Hawaii though, that would be great to see.
