How do you know what you are told is exactly correct, if you don't read what is written in the bible for yourself?

That person whom you are trusting with your soul could be mistaken in his beliefs. Many people honestly believe what they are teaching, but their words do not agree with the bible. The apostle Paul admonishes us to test all things.

I am a Muslim and I know that God is with me, whether I went to the Masjed to pray or pray in my house .. It is important that I have faith in God Almighty alone , and try to obey His orders and moved away from what He has forbidden and treated people well treated, "Do we need to read the book ?" That the words of God revives hearts as revives water the earth, and the intent of reading is to work in what it said of orders and prohibitions, conversing with God, get the reward, and hospitalization by it healing for the hearts of the disease desires , suspicions , obsessions and healing for the body, too, God says in the Quran: [10.57]" People, an admonition has now come to you from your Lord, and a healing for what is in the chests, a guide and a mercy to believers"

If believing in a god gives you some comfort then great, but although I have read the bible I don't believe there is such a thing. If I have a choice in what literature I read then it would be a technical manual or for light reading, something like a John Grisham or Dan Brown.

Hi Maria. You have surprised me there, and no mistake! I was expecting the bum's rush and instead you are sending me lots of love. Have you been drinking my dear? P.S. Is that you looking rather delicious in your avatar? It looks like you are flaunting your stuff on the cover of some swish magazine. Very nice!

You are a Christian and you go to church only three to four times in a month.I am a Hindu and I seldom go to temples. In fact,I never go to a temple unless it becomes indispensable.I think you don't need to be a regular temple [or,church] visitor to be a believer. If you believe in God,you don't need to go to a temple or any place of worship.I,for one, keep chanting God's name. While doing so,I often get overwhelmed.I try not to hurt others.I accept everything that comes in my life positively. And I think, this is all about what it means to be a believer.Don't you think so?

I think we should all do what we can do, and I think for you this is enough. You still need to think of yourself, and your needs as well.

Hello Maria You know my views on religion and whether or not I believe. I do not believe that going to church everyday and always reading the Bible makes you a better Christian than someone that goes a few times a month. Your actions and treatment of others define you, not how many times you go to Church. I have come across many folk that claim to be devout Christians - they talk about God and what they have learnt in Bible studies and quite frankly, they are evil. You are one of the good ones Maria. As a footnote - the real meaning of Church is not a building.

Amen Rob... I had someone tell me that since I dont read the bible I cant believe. i think I believe.. And you are right. I knew someone from another site (k) that only talked about the bible, everyday. Behind it, she was the most evil, 2 faced person Ive ever met in my life. Take care there. Your still my number one here and there..........

Very true about that building part. The meaning of church is the "body" of believers in Christ, basically. Also you can have "church" anywhere with 2 or more people!

I don't remember the last time I've been to church. I think that a person's faith is what is in their heart, not what organization they belong to.

Unless you are unable to go to church because you are too far away and there is no transportation, you are sick or working at a hospital, teaching, or something worthwhile you have to attend church. It is the duty of all believers to attend church. Also you may only read the parts of the bible, you like and that makes you feel good, and would neglect the parts you need. Then the pastor or minister has gone to seminary school, learned Greek, Latin, and Hebrew, has studied the history of the times when the Bible was written and knows how to preach the message. If it is a start, read Genesis 1 and 2 about the creation of the world, and in the New Testament, the four gospels. All the books in the Bible in the Old Testament lead to Christ and the books in the New Testament lead from Christ's birth to what will happen when He returns. Try to find a good church and you cannot find a good church until you read the Bible and know what to look for. The gospels and later on, the epistles will give you insight. You become a Christian by faith and not by works.

I too, believe in God, but do not go to church. I quit the church 65 years ago, and have felt better ever since. The bible was written by illiterates, with University educations at a grade 3 level, after the information had been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years. Now how credible could that be?

I don't read the bible either, but I know some of it. For me, its not important if we read the bible or not as long as we have a good heart. Our concience is clear and good. and away from evil thoughts like a child who is innocent and who does not learn how to read the bible. Still God choose a child who have a pure heart rather than those people who are expert in memorizing verse by verse in bible but their spirit is so low and so, what is the use? Bible is a guide but even though, we didn't learn the bible, still love conquers everything. If we love God first, good deed will come next.

Are you referring to the bible here when you said book? Anyway, the bible does not make God on our side for in the first place, He is always in our side. The bible is just there to guide us in our day to day experience and problems in life. However, there are just certain people who treats the bible as their world. Their whole faith, action and words are solely based on the bible.

My views are different than most but the true gospel is not popular in the world. I believe that the bible is for our benefit in way of "faith is by hearing and hearing by the word of God". Your faith will grow when you read the bible. I don't know if its a requirement to read the word to have faith? But its a very good thing to do if you want to have faith in God. I don't go to church, at all, and I believe on Jesus Christ for my salvation. No church can tell me differently or say that I don't or that I do. Going to church is really for fellowship with other believers which is to build up our faith when its low, also.

God is always by our sides. Our question that we need to ask ourselves: Are we on God's side? Our relationship with God isn't based on what we do but if our hearts are connected with God. And only you know whether or not you are connected with God. Reading the Bible does help us stay connected with God but it is not the only way to stay connected with God.

I think God knows whether you read the bible or not, and he knows if you have a good heart and believe, anything, no matter how small is always appreciated, the fact that you put yourself out for others will not go unnoticed. You don't have to go to church either to believe that God is on your side.

hi there! i think we are similar, the same when it comes to our faith.. I believe that we are not a regular church goers, yes that is true but our belief in him is well grounded, even if we are not always seen in masses or church services, i would say that we have our faith and we know how much we trust everything in him. Even if we are not active in church activities, we are always in constant communication with GOd - that we do have a relationship with him that is personal.

I don't think so, although it would be nice to read the Bible and go to Church since it is some of our responsibilities as Christians.. But i do not think only those things will save us.. since what matters more is how we live our life, as good people and that we help in an way we can to those in need.

Well, from my experience going to catholic school, all of them are evil. And I truly mean that. I look at the church as a cult. A place where these evil entities go to pray to something that does not exist. As for the bible well, that is a fable. Like any other fiction. I have tried to read it, but it made no sense what so ever. Me, as you can tell, am not religious in any way shape or form. I think anyone who becomes consumed with these things are involved in a cult. These are my views. No one has to go to church to believe in what they believe in. Most people believe in something, no matter what it is, church has nothing to do with it.

I would not send you son to catholic school. Stay away from them. Really. You don't learn the same as with public school. They are more concerned with religion then anything else. And when it comes to science, they are not in favor of teaching it.

I think reading the Bible is a good thing, but even going to church is good for you, but if you read the Bible and have questions you can ask your preacher about it and he or she can explain it.
