Have you encountered people who always ask for data? Yes, every sentence is backed with data. Well I texted a friend that I got invited to be at a sort of chat show on a small local TV wherein we are going to talk about our shopping experiences, etc. Guess what? This friend immediately responded that we better back everything we say with DATA. Wow! These are just 4 women talking about shopping nightmares and hassles and we need complete data for this? What sort of data do we need to avoid getting into trouble because it seems like he is suggesting that we might get into trouble if we don't have data (the big word for him). So texted back that we are only sharing our own personal experiences on shopping.
I think people who are always asking for data are boring. What do you think?

I feel what you say. Yes people who are worried too much about the exact data seem to do more harm then help keep the situation entertaining and fun. I wouldn't personally worry too much about being exact to the detail and fact unless in cases like court case or giving details of a event to a police. :D

Haha, yep, I would call them "data slaves". Its unfortunate actually. And all we can do is to tell them to relax and have fun with a life worry free of data sometimes.

Yes and some people want to know the ins and outs of every minutae detail and are not satisfied if you skim around the answer and don't tell them the full facts! Seems everything has statistics attached to them. It's kind of like OCD in a way. I don't think I am this kind of person.

Data was the name of a character in Star Trek The Next Generation. Other than that, I see not reason why you started this discussion in "Watching Television".

I thought so but that's the reality in it. If you want to convince people to believe into something, you have to back it up with data. In your case, wherein you only have to talk about your personal experience in shopping, you don't need to data because its a subjective topic. But if you will be talking about, for example, the satisfaction of customers shopping in XYZ store then you have to back it up with data. In some cases, data is needed to convince people that what you are saying is true. Yes, people who are always asking for data maybe boring but they are the kind of people who think objectively.
