The Other Side of the Pillow...

It never fails that you went to sleep finally and then at about 2 A.M. to 3 A.M. I will wake up and it seems like there is no chance of going to sleep...
Only one thing will allow me to go back to sleep for some reason.
I just turn my pillow over and it is all of a sudden cooler and it feels so much better. I'm not sure what it is about having the side of the pillow on your face that is a few degrees cooler, which is really minimal. I'm not sure why, but I will just go right to sleep within 5 to 10 minutes and not wake up till morning. Maybe it is different for other people, but this seems to be the sure way to get me back to sleep.
Have some other ways that you can get back to sleep? A couple others for me is either getting up and turning the air on or getting a glass of water. It seems like I just have to cool down many times after getting hot. Share your ideas please!

It is such a lovely feeling that coldness of the pillow. I turn my pillow several times till I put myself to sleep. What is it that it turns out to be a sleep inducer? I bet no sleeping pill (I don'[ take any though) will match this most unassuming, humble pillow!

The pillow that I am referring to is not the one I sleep on but the one I hug!

I also find myself turning over the pillow several times until I finally go to sleep after a little while. It does seem to be better than a pill to go to sleep, though like you I am not one to take sleeping pills either! I also have a pillow on my side that I have then the one above. This is how I always am able to go to sleep the easiest!

I'll have to try that. Things that help:
antacid (if stomach is gassy)
chamomile tea
warm milk (yuck)

I read that people will naturally wake in the middle of the night, and in previous times would have taken that time to read, write a letter, have a little nooky or whatever. Then they'd go back to sleep for the rest of the night.
I always wake in the early hours. I pick up my Kindle, and before I know it it's nearly morning and it's not worth trying to go back to sleep!

I used to be abe to sleep only when television was off and the light too. It jst had to be quiet and even a tv in another room would bother me if it was turned on.
But I've changed and it may be an old age thingy. I wear a sleep mask, and have the television on but turned down very low so that I cannot distinguish the words but there is a murmuring of voices. I sometimes have to take a sleep aid too.
My ceiling fan is on full blast over my bed as I rarely use the ac because of the expense incurred.
But who knows? I may change again in my sleeping habits

I do the same, it is odd. The pillow feels different when you flip it over! Then you can relax again!
As for suggestion... not too sure except maybe change your sleep schedule a bit?

One of my favorite sports anchors on ESPN has that line after a very cool sports clip plays. He'll say, "cooler than the other side of the pillow." I do that too. For some reason it is soothing. Usually when I wake up I'll turn over my pillow, but also have to change positions. If I'm on my side I'll have to go to my back because the previous position is no longer comfortable.

I, too, find that turning the pillow is a wonderful comfort and feels so good!
When I wake up I'm often up for a long time. If I'm still sleepy enough I can get back to sleep if I take care of whatever woke me up and then I have to close my eyes and try to get back to sleep. That can be very difficult. What often works is following the shapes I can see when my eyes are closed, it's very relaxing to follow a cloud or a star behind my eyelids into infinity and it usually puts me to sleep.
