Do you feel that God speaks to you?

I don't mean like someone sitting across from you and actually talking to you, that's not how He does things usually. I mean the little, tiny voice that is very aggressive and overrides your thoughts and actions.
I recently won a Visa gift card from a survey I took that I screened out of within the first few questions. I opened the envelope and saw what it was and was struck with the feeling that it was not mine. Long story short, I ended up giving it away and felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. In between receiving it and getting rid of it, thoughts like "that is not yours" and "it belongs elsewhere" intruded every time I passed it where it lay on the dining room table.
So, does God ever speak to you? It's happened to me often in my life and I'm wondering if any myLotters have had this experience.

This is why I tell people to pay attention. If we look back on things we can usually see why they happened. Why not get away from the mind noise long enough
to see the warnings up front. For me, it comes as a surprise, when I realize the reason everything seems off is because I am not listening or watching what is usually there right in front of me if I will only pay attention. A hopefull thing is the more you stop and train yourself to be aware the easier it gets. Blessings.

I do believe we have so overwhelmed ourselves with noise and petty occupations that we don't listen, either to God or our intuition or whatever one calls it. I remember as a child I had a lot of time to dream and loaf around, study nature and just enjoy things. The adults seemed to have more time for that, too, although they worked hard. Now we are surrounded by distractions and miss so much of what we should be listening to.

I agree, we're always aided with instincts which should be trusted if we trust our own philosophy. Our philosophy is how we perceive the world, and that's our reality, and that's what God is. We should strengthen our philosophy enough, so we can trust our instincts and play our roles confidently.

Spiritually, I feel God is within me. I may not talk to him up front, but I just feel his presence. He is one of my best friend and learning to know him better while reading his words in the bible. He may not speak as we wanted to, the presence is always there.

I agree with you. This communication was not a voice, just a feeling, and I believe God works through our own convictions, sins, or whatever will serve His purpose. A strong feeling, I think, can be the voice of God just as much as an actual great booming voice from the sky. We usually must listen very carefully--and be still enough to do so--if we want to hear Him.

Many of the best decisions in my life have been because I have listened to what God was saying. You are not alone in this.

God told me where to go to college and I will say that I learned so many things and got a chance to develop more spiritually and emotionally. What I learned there came in great use later when I faced hard times.

When I was college age I wasn't listening to God. I was an atheist then and I sure did make a lot of mistakes! I feel I have grown more since I accepted God into my life around age 31 than I had in all the years before then. With God, there are very few truly hard times.

Well, I do get that little voice telling me things occasionally but I call it my conscience.
Still, it doesn't matter what we call that little voice as long as we listen to it and heed it, for the most part. Wherever it's coming from, it's usually right, at least in my case it is.
I'd have probably done the same as you and give that card away. It's not often that we get "paid" for surveys we don't complete. I have to agree with you that they sent it to you by mistake, probably a computer error. Even if you did earn it legitimately, that was a very kind thing you did in passing it on.

I won a drawing once before and deposited the card in my savings account. I felt perfectly fine doing it. This one was very different.
Conscience is a wonderful thing! I have been saved from many bad consequences by listening to my conscience. I think it is a gift that we don't appreciate enough.
Hey, how is the snow there? It looked so beautiful, is it still there and how deep did it get? Or did I miss notification of a further mention of it? I'm just now able to get the car out of the garage!

It's still mostly all white around here but it's ice for the most part. We've had a lot of sleet in-between the snow showers and even some freezing rain. With the temps hovering just around freezing, the sun has melted the top layer during the day which then freezes overnight so we have a crisp layer of ice over what snow is left. It's murder on the eyes while driving! I can definitely appreciate the full meaning of "snow blindness"! Sunglasses don't help much.
But, so far, we've had maybe a grand total of 6 inches of snow. We got 4 inches of sleet in one storm. (I think that was the storm that gave you guys so much snow.) My dogs were upset about that. They LOVE playing in snow, saw all this white stuff outside, went running out to play in it and both made an instant U-turn and came right back in the house. It was comical! I had to laugh, although they were not amused. lol Apparently, ice is nowhere near as fun as snow to play in. It's been much colder than "average" this season so far but not too bad in the snow department. February is our big snow month, at least based on history. The weather has been pretty screwed up in recent years so there's no telling what is ahead of us.
I'm glad to hear you were able to get the car out. I know what that's like! Two years ago we got over 8 feet of snow for the season and I hope we NEVER repeat that!

The conscience is right when we trust our philosophy. In most cases we do trust our philosophy regardless of how practical it is. In my opinion, if we all go through life purely and confidently, our philosophy would be no different than anyone else's. When that happens we can trust our conscience more than we trust anything else. We have one thing in common, our conscience is right.

God has often given me the words I need when responding to those misrepresenting Him. Of course, He said He would do that.
Luke 12: 11,12 ESV
11 "And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

That is very good advice. Every time I read the Bible I learn something that I had not known before, even if I'm reading something I've read before. It truly is a font of knowledge and a handbook for life!

It usually happens to me in dreams.
And the rememberance of the dream, and sometimes the dream itself, will not go away until I do or say what I am suppose to do or say.

I have experienced the same thing. My grandfather is the one to deliver the message. It's not like he says, "God wants you to do this or that" but he shows me things. I also have other dreams--many times I dream of an accident and avoid that route and boom, there is one there at the time I would have been there.
I always feel privileged and humble when God speaks to me.

I feel there are many times in my life where God has spoken to me. Since I am always Praying, and believing and Trusting god in even the small things, there are times things have happened and I know it was God talking to me. It is important if you want to be Happy to have a comforter to trust and believe in, and help you with every choice that you might make.

I don't think that he talks directly to me. But because of my upbringing I subscribe to a group of morals and ethics that colour everything that I do. If something doesn't seem the right thing to do then better that I don't do it. This is an interesting question. As you know I spend a lot of time in an ancient Cathedral. I find the whole place spiritually uplifting but is this God talking to me or my subconscious recognising the effort that the builders put into correcting this great stone palace 800 years ago in their attempt to build something worthy of their creator?

A conscience is a wonderful thing! Morals and ethics guide us through life and make it a smoother journey than it otherwise would be.
It could be that you are picking up residual energy that was very strong when the cathedral was built as well as the reverence of people who have worshiped there. Then again, God could be please that you are there and sharing some love with you, who knows? I really don't think He cares what we build as long as we keep Him in our hearts.
I love old churches but very few move me to feel that reverence, isn't that strange?

hi dear dragon54u thats awesome. Things like this happened to me a few times that little aggressive voice telling me to write to someone or do something.
I guess something like this happened to me yesterday. We had our dinner quite late around 9:30 pm and as I got up in the kitchen to get me something, dont even remember what it was, I saw blue lights flashing, so I wondered Police. or ambulance ? A little later the firefighters came so there was a fire up there......
Normally I would only have said, oh sh..... but a while later when we had finished eating I said to my husband its cold and maybe they are out there without a coat after being rescued.... and I nagged him a bit and he got out to check and came back saying they were all brought to the hospital for check up, everything is okay. No one stands in the cold out there.
(maybe you ask now why didnt you check yourself but I have water retention in the legs which gets worse over the day time and I need about 5 minutes minimum to get into my shoes so he was much quicker getting down there and checking).

We should always be concerned about our neighbors, "love thy neighbor as thyself". It did not occur to me to ask why you did not go yourself! These days, sadly, it pays to be careful. God wants us to take care of each other and gives us a nudge sometimes!

NO the little voice inside of my head that is my conscious it talks to everyone so I don't see that as being god since god doesn't have a voice that anyone knows of. He is suppose to send signs as his way of communicating to people.
So when i'm doing something wrong or something and that little voice comes in to play that is just my brain talking to me trying to get me to do the better thing vs the wrong things.

I used to feel the same way at your age. As I learned to listen with my heart, He became louder. But I agree, many times it is our conscience speaking to us and our conscience is a gift without which our lives would be dark indeed.

So if you feel the same way that I do at my age then how do you know how old I am since I never mentioned it at all?
I don't think a person age has anything do with it or not. It's what you feel, I don't let some person that I can't see control my life or try to tell me what is right or wrong when the answer are right in from of me from my own head. I don't hear any voice and if I did I think I might be crazy and would see a doctor at least for myself because some people hear voice and those voice aren't good even when they tell you to do good things.
The little tiny voice in my head is my own brain another little voice in there at all.

For me GOD is my PARENTS. And i can say proudly that YES i speak to God. PARENTS are send by God to take care of us. God can't reach everywhere so he make Parents. So respect them, take care about them, help them, etc........ If you do all this i will say definetly that you can speak to real God one day............

That is one way that God influences us and lets us feel His love. I agree with you that we should love and respect our parents, I miss mine every day. But they are with God so the separation is temporary. God is the ultimate, perfect parent.

I quite agree with you immaterial which faith you are but you are human. Yes, God can hear clear and loud. This feeling, you can get, when you are true to yourself. You get a crystal clear conscious and as human, sometimes temptation comes faster than you think, but your conscious immediately blocks it. We have earned this gift from God, because we love and respect everything he has created in front of us. This gift of God you have earned in his eyes, and a humble thank you God and he will love you more. Let me prove to you an incident which is very true from my heart and in the name of God.
Quote
After many years of celebrating religious occasions, where normally elders give money to youngsters as Gift. I have stayed away from my family for nearly 30 years. One such occasion, I thought to myself who is there to give me gift, a bit sad. Next day dawn for the celebration. I got a call from an old family friend after many years, that she wants to come and see me. I said, you are most welcome. She came home, and the first thing she did, is put $100 note in my hand and said this is a gift for you. I was so shocked, and thought to myself, "did Almighty hear me, Yes he did". I cried and said I love you until I die. So please do not have any doubts about your feelings. Amen

That is a wonderful story! Sometimes God speaks to us through other people and shares His love. I always remember to thank Him, in fact I send up prayers of thanks and gratitude several times a day. He is always there for us and if we listen, He speaks to us--just not in a physical voice.

Your acceptance is so true. All I can say, you a person of strong principal, and steadfast in what God has taught to be right. Ask forgiveness when mistakes are done. You love giving charity to people who you think needs it. Feed a person who is in hunger. Why traveling, when you sense the person has no money, you quite slip some money to that person's hand and walk away without any introduction. Animals, you love them, you dont ignore any injured ones, you will try your best to treat the fellow. Sometimes carry them home if they are too weak.
You thank God for everything he bless you from family, food, water and everything around you. You are from a family who struggle to come up but today going through all that, you can hear God. (I hope, I am not mistaken) because you can feel the pain of others.

God does speak to all of us, after all God resides in us. We all have an inner voice who guides us at times, inspires us and directs us to take certain decisions. Most of us ignore and don't listen to our inner voice which is nothing else but God himself speaking to us. The more we listen to our inner self, the closer we feel to God. Some call it intuition, some call it consciousness, others call it the higher self. What ever the name may be, God is within us all the time.

I think that many people do not hear God because they are too busy--always connected to their phones, televisions, or computers. It seems that it is rare that anyone tunes out the noise of the world and listens to that still voice in their soul that will speak to them if they'll only be quiet inside.

That is the problem with life nowadays--we crowd our lives with texts, games, all manner of distractions so that we can barely have an uninterrupted conversation with a child, spouse, or business associate, let along our Creator. We need silent time in our lives to rest, reflect, and listen to God's voice.

That might be true but a messenger can be many things. I've seen people do things that caused a person to give themselves to God but it was nothing direct like the person actually speaking a message.
God works in mysterious ways and however He pleases. I doubt His behavior is bound by a book, however holy, that was written and edited and censored by men.

Dear friend, the experience that you mentioned, sounds like you conscience was telling what is right and wrong and that the stuff may not belongs to you. I don't see the relationship to God though. I experienced that all the time, my heart and conscience always tells me what is right and what is wrong. I would feel really bad if I am to do something bad which can cause serious harm to others. That is my conscience. I have not experienced God talking to me before. It's not like I'm not a believer, but I have not experienced God yet so far.

You probably have experienced God's voice and not known it. The conscience is a God given part of being human--no other creature on earth has a conscience, or so they say. My conscience has never been this intrusive and has never interrupted my thoughts as this message has. I can't explain it properly, but I know how my conscience feels and this was not it.
I have spent the past few years mostly alone, getting closer to God and nourishing my spirit. This was essential to my future since I have been so hurt that I had to isolate myself for awhile. Not everyone can take time off to develop spiritually but if you spend a few minutes a day in quiet prayer you will be closer to God.

You are referring between evil and angel who are around us. Remember that evil has billion in number as what the revelations said 10,000 of 10,0000 of 10,000 that 1/3 of angel who followed satan to fight with God have been cast away. and that is the reason why World are full of evil people. I do experience the same thing when I think of evil and prayed to God to always let my heart follow Him and don't let my heart defeat with evil but only His will. and I do feel His presence I don't see Him,I just realize it when I feel it and remember that I prayed to Him and He hears my prayers. When i think OF evil there is also idea in my mind thaT i THINK of God and thinking the consequence of what will I do although my purpose is just to revenge. and there were things o incident that how do i feel on that day and then I will read on the internet the bible quotes which is exactly referring to my situation or problem with that day. God always sent angel to guide us. remember He listen to those who are sincerely need His Help. He knows everyone's heart and so as I .. and that is the reason now I am not as the same as before..because of the angerness in my heart i always return before the bad thing that people made to me. I still received karma. and then I realize that it's a way of God speaking with me too. and really instant karma. even If i do good I received good things too. and you know. God always save me.and correct me when I do wrong. I also had video 1 video and 1 audio that when i replay it then there is voice or just like in video second show up of bones who tickling me when I zoom it although I am alone. and that is a proved that there are thing that we don't see in our eyes but are with us. and yes that is evil.so it doesn't need that we need to look in our eye in order to prove that a thing is real. but we just feel it .

I have felt God's presence before. I was so deep in sorrow that I was barely aware of where I was. But I felt an arm around my shoulder and a love so overwhelming that my tears dried up. It was as if a light shone in me and I had to let it loose before it consumed me in brightness. I have never felt love like that before and it still humbles me to recall it. In fact, I think of it every time I feel all alone and I know that God is there for me always.

When I was considering whether or not to marry my husband, (he wasn't proposing at that time, but we were talking about getting married), I clearly heard a Voice that could only be from God, saying; 'Trust Me, he is the right person for you'.
My husband proposed shortly after that. I am so glad I listened to that Voice. My husband and I have been happily married for over 25 years. My husband is also grateful that I listened to that Voice. It was so clear - I still remember it today.
I don't often have God speak to me in such a 'loud, clear and booming' voice like that very often. Sometimes, it is in little ways and in quiet ways that I hear God speaking. And yes, I have had 'nagging' thoughts that would not leave me alone until I have done or said something that is what I need to do or say.
I do feel that these nagging thoughts do come from God because they are indeed the right and loving things to do or say.

I've never heard an actual voice, just a tugging at the heart or soul or an unmistakeable sign. Once a total stranger passed close to me and said, "You need to do it" then stopped and said "I have no idea why I said that to you, I'm sorry!" but I was thinking of moving. Things like that are not random, though people say they are. I don't believe in coincidence anymore.
I'm so happy for you, having someone to share love with for all that time! God is good.
