I was goind to the nutriciologist to help me out with a diet. But yesterday I checked at the hospital via internet and everyone is on vacations until March. So I booked an appointment for March and decided I`d do something by myself meanwhile. Today is my first day. I weighted myself and wrote it in the calendar. And then I checked and then downloaded help for the Mediterranean diet, one of the best there are and easier to follow. You don`t slim down quickly, but it stays. Wish me luck, friends. And pray that I will not be tempted. I like almost any eatable thing. Do you have any New Year`s intention with regards of your health? Share!

hi marguicha. it is great that you are starting with your diet today as most of the people i know often say that they will start dieting tomorrow and it seems tomorrow never comes. lol! anyway, i'll look up the mediterranean diet and see if it fits me. i did the general motors diet and i did lose weight following the plan. right now, i eat what i want but eat only a portion of the food. i also try to limit my sugar intake. plus i drink a lot of water as well. exercising and other physical activities also take up most of my schedule after work. i really don't have a new year's resolution about my health. i just want to have a better over-all health and maintain my ideal weight for the course of the year. again, good luck marguicha! keep us updated. cheers!!!

I don`t mind if I shed a pound or less in a month, as long as it`s constant.

You`d make a resolution about your weight if you had my tummy. I used to have a nice body. Only a couple of years ago things got out of hand. I`ll see if I can put it under control again.

I want to increase my body weight this year because I reduces almost 10 founds due to lack of relax and sleep. I want to eat every meal because most of the time I eat not in the right schedule of meal. I will listen my family to eat with them because I always refuse due to some works

In my case I love to eat but I don't like to cook. The reason, I don't know some food menu that my family love to eat. Instead I push my wife to cook for us

I love to cook and to eat, so unluckily I have never been in need to eat more.

I just intend to eat what I can find. I don't worry enough about special diets, but when I go to Thailand in the spring (possibly not until late April or early May) I will just start eating local foods again and that will get me back in shape. I wouldn't worry about an occasional temptation because if you resist then you will want to splurge and then you will feel guilty. If you want something not on your diet, try to do it in very small amounts so you get the taste and get it out of your system but just don't overdo it. Good luck with that! Have a great weekend!!!

Hi dearest! The good thing about the Mediterranean diet is that they don`t forbid anything. But, as you say, some food must be eaten in small amounts. I have never gone to the East because air fares are too expensive. But it seems that obesity problems are not as terrible as the ones we have in this side of the world. Take care!

You might remember that a few weeks ago I wrote about the fact that I was having a hard time eating right and one of the things that I've been trying to do for myself this year is to try to eat right. Now this really hasn't been something that has been easy for me because it is quite hard to teach yourself to eat again when you haven't really been eating right for a long time. However, I do feel like I am finally taking steps in the right direction when it comes to my eating habits.

It´s a good thing that I started this during our Summer. In Summer I prefer cold food, lots of fruit and veggies.

I got my blood parameters checked which I do occasionally and see that I need to take care of my cholesterol. I have been quite lax about my food but I now know what needs to be done. I will start my oats again, reduce eating eggs specially the yellow part. I am also on cod liver oil pearls and hopefully things should work for me. I shall get my blood checked again may be around March. You seem to have your head on your shoulders and therefore will stick to doing what you have in mind.

My mom is not allowed to uuse many egg yolks, so she makes omelettes with the whites. I think that smoothies and veggetables as a way of partly filling your tummy will help your cholesterol levels.

I really don't have any resolutions, I just want to eat more fruits and vegetables. We eat a lot right now, but you know what they say "strive for five, but nine is divine" We should strive to eat at least a combination of 9 fruits and vegetables a day. I do have a goal of fitting into this really cute summer dress by May.

For me it is not a New Year´s resolution, but a real need. My doctor wants me slimmer.Fortunatly foe me, I have started my diet in Summer. During this season I crave more for fruits and veggies and less for hot meals with fried ingredients in them. In 2 months I have an appointment with a nutricionologist, but I´d like to go there with a couple of kilos less.

Good luck with your diet! Let's not call it a diet. Let's call it a lifestyle change. That's harder than a diet, but much more effective. I too need to watch what I eat and make sure I exercise more. I haven't made any new years resolutions, but I tell myself several times a year that I need to eat more fruit and veggies and less grains, and I do for a while, but then I get lazy, don't want to spend that much time in the kitchen and it seems high carb meals are easier to prepare.

You are right. I should call it a change of life style. Then I will not feel so deprived.

It's been my experience that slow is the best way to lose weight. I have tried so many diets and found if you lose it fast, it comes back even faster. Really one must look at this as a life style change and say goodbye to all those wonderful little goodies that make the pounds creep back on. I have found, that once I have been off white food for a while it just doesn't taste good anymore. Good luck and stay strong.

I hope it works now. I have never been this overweight, but I have never led this kind of non energy life either. I kind of hate chemotherapy and cancer. After the main treatment, I was so happy to be able to eat more "nasty" and "unhealthy" food, that I went for them

wish you luck my friend, I have no weight problems, my weight had been the same since I was 25 or 27 years old, that's why I could still climb our roof as i always did if i need to get things done and many more that people my age would find very difficult to do, it's one of the blessings I always thank god for everyday

I put on some weight when I quit smoking some years ago, but I had a good muscle mass until last year. I was very sedentary while on chemo and I`m still far from being active.

I understand that eating in a healthy way is good for your entire health. But I also hope to shed some of my extra pounds as they stop me from being more energetic.

Hi marguicha, I'd also want to start the year with a daily exercise because I'm slowly feeling my weight and it's not good. The simplest way that I thought of is walking with the dogs. We have dogs at home that needs the exercise as well. Walking each dog separately makes it even a longer walk. I just hope that I won't get lazy.

Walking is a good exercise. I guess I would be healthier if I had been less sedentary this last year.

I know a lot of girls who all tell me they need to slim down. I look at them and I honestly don't see anything wrong with them. But I tell them if you're really going to go on a diet don't, please don't make it so you eat less, just eat healthier things, with less calories, unless you do sports and need more calories. I'd tell you this, but it looks like you already are aware. Anyway, I wish you good luck :)

My doctor also wants me to get some weight off my body, elsino. And the diet I have chosen until the appointment with the doctor is a very healthy one. It helps a lot that we are in Summer here now. I can eat lots of veggies and fruits and will not crave hot dishes with lots of fat.

Dear Marguicha. Diet is not a good option to become slim. Better to increase your daily physical work out. If you lose your weight by Diet, your weight increase when you start eating more. That's why am suggesting you to go for more and more physical work out like...swimming,cycling,dancing,gym etc..... Hope this info will guide you. My best wishes is with you.

I see you are new to mylot and also a young person, narbahadur. I don´t have much energy to exercise because I am on a follow up treatment (chemotheraphy) for cancer. Besides that, I´m 67 years old. I haven´t been on a bicycle for decades. My arthritis will not make me do many of those exercises you suggest, if I had the energy to do them. Meanwhile, I´ll eat less of a well balanced diet.

Good luck... I'll pray for you. I also have the intention to start my diet. I just came home from the hospital wherein blood samples were taken for my blood chem. My doctor used to tell me that I should refrain from eating meat and other foods containing cholesterol, etc.. Now, I decided to really follow my doctor's advice. You're not alone, I will search for that Mediterranean diet that you mentioned in your discussion.

Hi! I am glad to hear that you are determined and started by yourself. Mediterranean diet is great and it is full of vitamines! Don't pressure yourself and I am sure that you will make it if you take small steps and lose the weight gradually! My tip is to use a small plate instead of a big one at home. This way I eat smaller portions. And I always eat a lot of vegetables, they really help! Good luck!

I don`t expect to slim down in two days. But even if I shed a pound in a month, it will be a good result. This diet, as most diets, asks for a lot of veggies and fruit.

happy to know!, to lose weight is really hard keeping yourself from all the good stuff to eat and fighting some cravings like eating a lot of carbohydrates and delicious sinful foods ha ha. Actually, I really want to lose weight and keep healthy veggie food but I failed from the third day after new year I can't resist these enticing amazing food prepared from the table so I plan to start next week hopefully. Good luck and always be motivated :) happy lotting!
