It`s not easy to be a good leader.
True leaders need to understand and apply all the qualities of teamwork to be effective in their role. They must be people of ethical character, whose guiding principles, enthusiams, positive pride, communication skills, motivation, persistence and a positive outlook are visible in their actions for everyone on the team to clearly see and follow. They need to live the values for which the team stands.

I totally agree with you. Not all men are born leaders. It takes training but others are just so good at it. Leading a team is a difficult task. I'm having the same issue with our current team leader now. He doesn't seem to know how to handle his team. He's not often visible in the office. He comes to work everyday but doesn't normally show his self to us. He's not trasparent and one thing I dislike about him the most is his negative attitude. Everytime you ask him something or propose something to him if it's possible for him to cascade it to upper management for approval he just tells you it's not possible without him giving it a try. It's really frustrating. We tend to conflict a lot. Well not just me but to my other teammates too. He knows most of the people in our team do not like him... hahaha! But seriously, having a bad leader can sometimes deter your enthusiasm for work or even your eagerness to go to work. Sometimes, I think he's not for the people. I'm not looking for a lenient leader but someone who you're confident that will stand by you in terms of goals.
Talking about motivation, he doesn't even talk to us or keep us up-to-date about our performances or the things that we need to focus more to perform in our job well. If you ask him about your performance he'll just tell you that there's nothing to worry and that everything is okay. He can't give specific or detailed answers so we'd be at least aware of our performance in the team and if we can qualify for some performance appraisal. It's frustrating indeed! hahaha! I think I've said a lot already. hahaha! :D

Thanks! :D I really hope he'll realize his weaknesses and try to improve himself moving forward. We already had a brown bag discussion and I'm pretty sure he knows everyone's complain about him now. :)

I agree with you 100%. These are all great characteristics of a good leader. A good leader will want everyone on board with their goals. If everyone is on board with the same goal, there will be much success within the team as well as the goals that are wanted and needed within the team. Every good leader will lead by example and expect no less of him/herself.

Personally, for many people being a good leader is not easy. Many times there are a lot of people out there that can do wonderful jobs with things by themselves, but when it comes to being a leader they are not sure where to start. I work with one or two that are like this, and personally sometimes, I feel that they are just afraid to really take charge like they want too. Afraid of what others might think or say.

Hello dear Krausehome I´m happy to read you here. Yes it´s true, being a leader is not easy. Not at all. I think sometimes we have an attitude problem.
Charles Swindoll wrote "The long I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home... The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. We are incharged of our attitudes."

I personally believe leaders are born and not made. Great leaders like Hitler and Subash chandra Bose, had inherent qualities to control others and carried an air of charasma. Hitler despite him being short statured literally ruled the world.Yes honesty and the willingness to take risk are the two main quality a leader should possess. I hate to call today's politicians as leaders because they just dont fit the definition of a true leader

I'm not a good leader.
Yet, I've often found myself in leadership roles, class president, organization and fraternity head at university, and project team leads at work.
I am a good follower though. And when I see that nobody steps up, or that the prevailing leadership does not work, I often step in. And I just use the traits of a good follower as a style in my leadership.

Hello dear friend Bounce, I´m happy to know that you take some leadership roles. Being a leader is not an easy thing. I think that´s why many of us avoid taking that responsibility.
Somepeople are natural leaders, some of us try to do our best effort when we are set as leaders. Isn´t it?

A good leader needs to be a good follower too. The leader is a very essential position to make the team works in unison. It could be in actions and through words, a leader knows how to be a good listener and sensitive to the needs of other people.

Yes your are right girls! The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.
Blessings to both of you... dainy

Hi dainy.
You are right about all those qualities of a good leader. But as a leader the most difficult thing to do is to be unbiased and leave selfishness out. It is very difficult to make unbiased decisions. Also even if it goes against one's ego, he/she has to compromise for the sake of team. Only those who are capable of doing that can become a good and efficient leader. Anyways have a nice day ...

To become a Good Leader i think following below point is must important......
1) Always say "We" not "I". Because you are working as a team.
2) Motivate your Co-worker.
3) Encourage team member before starting any task.
4) Listen the problem of team member and try to solve it first. Stop all your task and try to solve that problem first.
5) Be confident about what you say in-front of your team member because if you are not confident than your team member will not response you well.
6) Be friendly with your team member.
7) Help them in their problem whether it's a personal or official.
8) Treat your team member as good as possible.
9) Also put some restriction between you and your team member.
10) Whenever some mistake happen with them try to solve them politely and make them understood how to get away from that problem so that he can't make same mistake again rather than to scold him.
Thanks.

Hello Ali, I´m glad to know you are a leader, being a good leader isn´t easy at all.
The character of leaders involves more than words. Their actions will reflect their true character. Being a leader of character is the choice you make to do what is right, regardless of the outcome. Everyone has the opportunity to make choices based on truth, integrity, responsibility, and loyalty - all of which are necesarry to develop and maintain character.
Being a good leader isn´t easy at all.
