Embrassing Things we Do

In the afternoons when the weather is nice, above 30, I go for a walk. I live in the country and very seldom see other people while I'm out. So I when I walk I listen to music on an mp3 player. While I was out I walked passed an older woman. Said hello and went on my way. On the way back home I passed her again and realized she was laughing. So I look around and can't figure out what she could be laughing at. Then to my horror I realize its me. I got so carried away listening to music that I was singing out loud. All I could think was at least it was no one I know. Still it was very embrassing. It got me to thinking I wonder how often people embrass themselves and don't even realize it?

I embarrass myself often without realizing until afterwords. I once went to get a drink from a water fountain and someone was at the taller one, so I bent to use the shorter one. After straightening and starting to walk away I realized that the one at the taller fountain was laughing at me. This is when I realized how ridiculous I must have looked.

hi MaylaJay, Glad to know I'm not the only one out in public embrassing myself. Unfortnatly for me I could go to the little kids fountain and no one would even blink an eye. I'm only about 5'1 so I don't have that problem. Thanks for sharing.

You can't feel embarrassed without realizing it. You feel embarrassed and then you confirm the realization. Maybe she's even more embarrassing than you. Hello, poor breeding. She's much more laughable than you, you were showing a weird thing you have when you are walking in the street, she was merely making a fool of herself over a stranger. But it's also pretty embarrassing on your part. I had my share of singing moments of my own, with incriminating results.

I tend to burst forth into song without thinking too, but only when I am alone. I have noticed that my daughter does it too, so maybe it is hereditary. It is only slightly embarrassing though and people are amused by it or maybe they like to hear someone singing... I would be much more embarrassed is I was caught out being unkind, or indecent! Keep up the good work I think your singing made that stranger's day.

Think you might be on to something. My daughter ofter sings to herself. Especailly when she is playing in her room a lone. So maybe it is something that we inherit. Interesting thought.

I'm sure I've done things like that but I can't think of a single one! Maybe I don't embarrass as easily as I think. If it had been me, I would have laughed with her and gone on singing. Singing and music are expressions of how we feel and should never be apologized for! At least in my opinion.

She was very nice about the whole thing just laughed at me which I laughed about it later when I told my hubby. Of course he got a lot of amusement out of it too. Its all good just rather embrassing at the time.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand how embarrassing that moment must have been after discovering that u were actually singing very loud. I think u should forget whatever happened with u as she was just a stranger and her remarks does not matter much. U should make it a point that such things are not repeated otherwise u would feel embarrassed again. What say?

Yeah learned that lesson the hard way. Next time all keep my singing in the privacy of my own home.

When I was at school I hurried to the washing since the break was short and many students there.I ran into a boy and suddenly found that I went to the men's room for a mistake. Hah.Now what you said reminded me of this case and I think this is a special experience in our life. Your case will make you laugh in the future, maybe.

Thanks for sharing your embrassing moment with me. I felt better about it when I was telling my hubby when he got home from work and my 11 yr has to chime in and say jeez only my mom could embrass me when I'm not around. Someone I know could have heard you. So I told him thanks kiddo my check list for today is complete. CHECK LIST: 1. Embrass kids (done) I had a good laugh about it after that.
