Things that make me say Hmmmmm?!!!!

A discussion that I started four weeks ago has suddenly, in the last three days, taken off. It went from around twenty five responses to almost one hundred. Of the new responses at least sixty five of the new responders have a rating of (10). It feels almost eerie, really. I have not been here for a couple of days, I have been traveling and this is probably innocent, but all those low rated users make me feel like something is going on. I will, of course, go in and comment on the next seventy responses that have been added in the last two days. I will see the rest of you, my friends, when I finish that task. I am sure there are other strange things that happen here, and I would love to hear you share them. I am just hoping this is not two or three users with multiple accounts.

Well, the responses are not identical, I would think maybe there were ten or more responders at least. It just seems beyond coincidental.

I was just about to make a discussion about this , I had a discussion started last month and suddenly it seems like its gone viral lol .. I suddenly have over 80 respond in two days and all the user have small numbers beside their names . have the same rating as you mention .
I am feeling not to respond as they will all get delete and waste my time , I dont know what to do .

I guess I am glad that I am not the only one. I know that some of the responses are genuine but some of them may be bogus, or all under one common friend. I looked at the link that was posted and only recognized some of the responders. It does all seem to center around work related training. Maybe that is the connection.

It could be related to some education , I hope so because its really weird .
Gerty I am also glad I am not alone . I really like some of the responses too and they really seems to take time on most of them .

If the discussion is legitimate I will be paid for all of my comments to the responses on this discussion. That is the part we get paid for. It feels good to see the interest, though. I do usually have a core of people who respond to my discussions and these people are new to me.

Do you really think this is someone with multiple accounts try to bog you down with that so you can't start other discussions? That would be mean. That many all of sudden is rather odd. But to have a rating of 10 they must be singular accounts. I would think anyway.

I do not think it is aimed at bogging me down. If it is one, or a number of connected users or duplicate accounts it is more likely that someone thinks they will make a lot by doing this, or there is one lead person who has all these people beneath them so that they can get referral earnings.

Oh! That was a strange thing that I saw in your discussion. OMG! 96 responses?? Had I got so many responses, i would have fainted and fallen in front of my PC itself. But then, I too like others feel that it could be the same person having multiple accounts who is trying to take full advantage of the referral program here. But may be they are different people. I would suggest you to report to the admin, may be he could check out the profiles and decide about it regarding what is to be done.
Still, I am looking forward to seeing 100 responses to your discussion, if only that could happen. It is the first time I am coming across something like this on Mylot.

I have had other discussions that have gotten lots of responses. Not usually all in two days though. I will comment on all responses, because if they are real, even if it is a school exercise, they all deserve to be commented back. It feels suspicious, and I just was at a loss to know what to report exactly. The first twenty or so responses are genuine, they are my usual friends and responders. I would hate to have the whole thing deleted.

yeah, they do deserve to be responded back. I would appreciate your patience on this thing. Usually, when i get responses more than 20, I would lose all my interest in the discussion itself and I would become lazy to comment back to those responses. I guess, I should learn it from you. I guess only the responses from the fake profiles will be deleted. Not the whole discussions.

You are not wrong to be leerie as it sounds a little off to me too. Although treat it as though it is not because those may be real users that you're bringing in and what a neat thing that would be! So best of luck in responding to all those new users and discuss with them

I sort of favor that solution, as the responses do not sound copy/paste, but it is just a lot of very new users who suddenly like my discussion. I do not think it is a guideline violation. The teacher may be put them on to me because I do comment back. I was indeed hoping that the Lamb and a few other sleuths would cover it.

A good mystery
There are few things more satisfying than a nice fat juicy mystery. This sounds like one such mystery.
I think what happened is someone entered a keyword which was on fire; meaning the keyword is getting a lot of attention. Entering keywords are important because they then show up on people's searches for conversations on MyLot. For example, the word "abortion" fires up the search engines like no body's business. Of course, "abortion" could be terminating a pregnancy or terminating an endeavor.

Training on the job does seem to be the phrase that attracts most of them and the idea that many of them are responding to. Some of the responders do not quite fit the mold though. The person Lamb pointed out to me has over 1100 friends so I hope they do not all respond to that discussion. Honestly, I am tired of it though.

I can't comment on the "10" but perhaps the conversation perked the ears of people from the Philippines...
I'm not good at mysteries I'm afraid.

I was curious to see which discussion you were talking about but could not find it. I'm always surprised when an old discussion attracts new responses and I've often forgotten all about it! And I see that this one has drawn dozens of comments, as well--you interest a lot of people! You can skip comments to me--you must be busier than a one-armed paper hanger!

I find it very odd. I started on page 8 and noticed several responders with exactly 10 activities to their credit. All in their early 20's and either from the Philippines or country unspecified. All with numbers in their names. So I checked a couple of pages back and such posters were there, too. I think either someone has a lot of aliases, a few someones do, or your discussion is host to a very unlikely coincidence.
Well, at least you got to type a lot of words that will help with your earnings, although it can almost hurt the brain to think of all those different replies to so many people!

I do hope that you have not to some with multiple accounts. But do not sell yourself short' as you do make great discussions and I just feel bad that I do not think I responded. Sol am going to make that right right now.[

Hatley, you were the first one to respond on that discussion, four weeks ago. You talked about CNA training. I know you always come to my discussions if you see them. If you were not number one on it, you were the second or third. All this activity has happened in the last three days.

She probably does get her percentage, that is okay with me. It gave me something to bring up my earnings by concentrating on going back to them. I hope they are getting some education from responding to me. I do not mind coming back and responding and commenting to them. Some of them may come to like the site.

That would me me go hmmm too! Maybe all your friends were away for a couple days. I'm playing catchup because i keep going MIA. Trying to be more consistent with visiting atleast once or twice a week (my only new years resolution and its one i can track!)
I've had a couple discussions that have gotten 40 responses and then a couple weeks later have gotten deleted - it told me it was a duplicate discussion but i went through the category and checked to see and there were none that matched! I wondered why it was let to get as long as it did before it got deleted.

That discussion continues to grow, with users with 10, and we are pretty certain it is a teacher assigning them to come. That is okay by me. I have not been back for a few days as I am working outside of the home every day to cover for someone in the hospital. I have not got much energy to do anything else. I will be checking it some more. Maybe on your "duplicate discussion" it grew rapidly. . . I would say any discussion about current events is liable to get labeled as duplicate, and there are a few other categories I avoid making as well.

Definitely fishy in my opinion. don't bother to respond. I've only noticed one thing with mylot and this is odd really as I do ot look often but my earnings has stayed the same since last Monday although I have been active. I have never had my earnings transferred to a paypal acount as I messed up myn paypal account and cannot sort it out. So the sum involved is nearly US$200 but it remains the same - no oncrease this week. Odd don;t you think?

I have not been on much all week, but this is Thursday and I did not have a Wednesday update. Usually they will tell me %0.00 earnings if I had no activity. I am sure it is another glitch. Can you not just start a new PayPal account and put that in your preferences here at MyLot? My hubby needs to put a different one in as we shared ours previously. He has only cashed out once in all these years, but must be getting close now.

Few months back, I think the same 'teacher' encouraged her students to sign up here as her referrals. The problem was they all flooded many pages by starting new discussion with similar 'on-the-job training' topic. So perhaps the teacher guided her students with a different approach this time to avoid violating guideline.
By the way GG, you hit 40+k now and getting closer in catching up with Hatley!

I will never catch up to Hatley. I know I have some high numbers, but I cannot be here as much as she is.I think it is more appropriate and educational if they are students for them to read and respond. I hope they make good grades.

I've checked through the said discussion and noticed that the new. members who responded are from unspecified countries. This made me suspect that this is the job of the same person. I have similar case in one of my old discussion. But that one was a genuine case as those who responded are old timers who have huge figures to their names. The responses were over ten pages earned over a period of few days.

Your discussion must have been very interesting to attract so many old users. Some of the users on my discussion mention their country, at least one said something about being in China. That may be why they would not want to list their country.

It is a little odd, but I think the explanation of a class might be the correct one. It does not violate the rules and they get to practice their English.
