So you lose your train of thought while posting?

Hi everyone: I am asking this, as it has happened to me. I will strt posting, have in my mind what I want to say, and then all of a sudden it is gone. I get to doing other things, then when I get back to posting, my mind has gone a total blank. I hate it when that happens, especially when I have good ideas what to say, and then, poof, just like that, it is gone. I try to keep my mind on what I am doing so i don't lose my train of though, but alas, it is gone again. you know though, whether I still have my train of thought or not, I still enjoy being here, if only to read and not post. Please share your experiences.

Yesterday I went out and tried to myLot using my mobile. I was responding to a topic and when I tried to submit it failed. All I wrote were gone and I didn't even feel like gathering them all back in my mind to rewrite everything either.

I have had that happen before, but not with my cellphone, but with my laptop. I would be typing what i want to say, then all of a sudden, it was all gone and had a blank box to post into again. I don't know if I hit the delete on my keyboard by accident or hit something else, but it sure was frustrating. I had to try to remember what I had typed and do it again. I know I never put it down the same way again, but i did finally get my point across. Thanks for responding, have a good day, and take care.

It happens to me too! Sometimes when I'm teaching I get an idea to write on Mylot, by looking at the students, listening to their stories, and so on. I have even been able to write on my mind at that moment. I always think like, wow, this is fab! However, when I get home and get distracted a bit, suddenly I think that my idea isn't that fab anymore. And it's always like that. I always find the greatest idea just when I'm not online!! It's killing me.

Yea, I hear you there, as that has happened to me as well. It is frustrating too, as I would rather get the ideas when I am online, without all the distractions, which I do get those too. I never write my ideas down, and maybe if i did, and then go do something else, then I can go back and see what I wrote, and add to it, and then post it. thank you for responding, and have a great day.

I have a hard time coming up with ideas for a post and then when I do, I make a note and by the time I get it on to the screen, it seems daft or silly or embarrassing. Therefore, I spend most of my time reading and then the rest of my time responding. I quite often delete responses too if they don't come out right. I like being here too but I'm not very good at this sort of thing. I keep trying though.

You do just fine. Yesterday, I was typing a response to a discussion, and jsut about had it doen, when all of a sudden, I ended up with a blank screen again, and I couldn't figure out what happened, so I wrote it again, and I know I didn't exactly write what I had before it vanished. I did get my point across though. I think, though, that I am going to have to write things down first on a tablet so I don't lose what I was trying to say, and then when I get back to it, I don't have to start over again, should my post vanish into thin air. Thanks for responding, and have a very good day.

It's happened to me, too. Since currently I am working at home (I'm unemployed), there are many things to do at the same time. So, very often the same - I start writing something, then something comes up urgently, so I leave the post in the middle and get to finish the other thing. When I return to the post, the idea is gone... This happens because there are too many distractions around is and even we're sunk into only one occupation, there always will be something else to catch our attention. I got used to it, but I also taight myself not to leave what I do in the midst of the job. Whatever else came up, it can wait a minute until I finish my thought.

that certainly does make sense to complete your thought before moving onto other things, that way you don't have to worry about losing your train of thought. I am going to do that too, even though I have other things to do, I will have to complete what I am doing first, then go on and do something else. I am just glad though tat it doesn't happen all that much, or I would be in serious trouble. thanks for responding and take care.

Thank you, too, for posting such a reasonable topic and be well! :)

It is handy to keep a notebook on which to put a few reminders of these brilliant ideas that flash into our minds and then flash out again so quickly. It only takes a couple of words written down to remind you of where you left off and think of the time it will save you racking your brains. I tend to get these great ideas for discussions just as I am falling asleep and in spite of my best intentions I can never recall what they were. Some of the discussion here get a little boring but I try to stick to the ones that hold my interest and that works best for me.

Sometimes, I will get ideas while in bed, but when I go to put them down, they are gone. I do think it is a good idea to put the ideas down first, so that when the time comes, the ideas are still there. I don't start all that many discussions, because I have a hard time coming up with ideas to post. I will use the ideas that others have given me, so I won't lose my posts. Thanks for responding, and have a great day.

not really lose my thoughts but more like lose my courage or patience. like, do i really want to answer this topic again? do i want to explain myself further here? am i ready for the reactions this might receive? sometimes hours after i've left the pc, my mind would belated come up with a wittier response or comment than the one i originally posted. drat! but like you sometimes i'm just entertained by the hilarious exchanges here.

I have to make sure that I don't repeat myself when I post, but I don't think I have that problem to much. I know what you mean about your mind going back to what you posted and realizing that you had more ideas and just didn't get them posted. I have done that too, a few times. After I would post, I would realize that I had more to say, or that somethings I said, I really didn't want to say them. I do my best though, as I am sure we all do, but as long as we get our point across, and it goes along with the discussion, then it is okay. thank you for responding, have a very good day, and take care.

Oh yes, this has happened to me a couple of times and not just when posting here on mylot. Sometimes I would be in a middle of a conversation and just paused for a while to read a text message for example, and then when I try to pick up where I left off I just can't recall where or what I am going on about! Everyone would say I am too young to have trains getting derailed, all I can say is sorry! Brain fart!

that is funny, but on the other hand, I am older, and I guess it comes from age. As a person gets older, it seems t6hat our minds go blank quite often, and it sucks, but it does happen. I do keep trying though, as I love to post in here, and so I will just do the best I can and hope that my posts pertain to the discussion or the responses I receive. I wish my mind didn't go blank so much, but ehy, at least I do have fun anyway. Thanks for responding, and have a great day.

It always happens to me. It's like you're in a good mood to write and start a discussion then suddenly when you start typing, nothing comes out of your head anymore. Then I just find myself staring at the white space of the discussion box and ended up deleting what I've started.

If my mind goes blank, then I just stop, and hopefully, i will get my train of thought back. It really sucks when that happens, as like you, I start typing a good response, get sidetracked and poof, my mind is gone, and so is my post. I am really glad that it doesn't happen all that much, thank goodness. Thanks for responding and have a great day.
